Born blind in right eye, gained sight?

Very straightforward, I just want people's opinions as the eye Dr's I've seen have not figured it out.

I was born with no sight in my right eye due to no optic nerve developing (the original diagnosis, which recently I've been told there's some, but not enough for me to see). When I was 11, I went from seeing nothing in that eye to just black, which everyone told me was what I was supposed to 'see' when I was blind. This later progressed to me seeing white spots and then being able to make out colours. I was taken to an optician at the time who said I was faking it for attention 😒.

I'm now able to see shapes and make out objects clearly enough to know what they are, but I am still considered legally blind in that eye. I've seen two eye drs (I can't spell the actual word), and the first was too confused, so referred me for a second opinion. The second one told me I'm visually hallucinating, which I tried to argue, was asked if I focus on it, does it become clearer, which yes, it does, and apparently, that was confirmation.

I've never heard of anything like this happening and can't find anything online, so I was wondering what people think. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just a theory or explanation of why this happened.

Thank you.

Want to Itch My Eyeball Out of my Head

34 Female. On lexapro 10mg. Woke up this morning to itchy eyes. Progressively got worse to feeling like there is something in my eye with itching and burning. Tried all kinds of eye drops and took Benadryl and it’s not really helping. Thoughts?

Eye shape changing throughout the day

I'm attaching photos from morning, noon, and night.

For the last 3.5 years, my eyelids have been changing shape throughout the day.

Morning: mostly hooded/single eyelids.

Noon: double eyelid starts appearing.

Night: multiple folds/triple eyelid appearance.

The change is significant enough that people often ask if I'm sick or comment that my eyes suddenly look different. It affects my entire facial appearance and has become a major source of distress.

Additional observations:

Wind exposure seems to increase the swelling and eyelid changes.

When I'm sleepy or fatigued, the swelling is usually worse.

Strangely, when I lie down on my bed, the swelling often improves temporarily, but later returns.

This pattern has remained fairly consistent for about 3.5 years.

One thing I'd specifically ask Reddit:

Could this be related to eyelid edema/fluid shifts, allergies, dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, lymphatic drainage issues, or a mechanical eyelid problem rather than sinusitis?

Medical background:

History of chronic sinus inflammation (no deviated septum).

Have seen 2 ophthalmologists.

Was told it was related to sinus issues and dry eyes.

Used prescribed medications and dry eye drops.

Even when sinus symptoms improve, the eyelid changes continue.

No lasting improvement from treatment.

Other details:

For years I regularly applied almond oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera gel around my eyelashes and eyelids.

Not sure if that is relevant.

Questions:

What conditions can cause eyelids to change shape this much throughout the day?

Could this be fluid retention, allergies, inflammation, dry eye, blepharitis, ptosis, or something else?

Has anyone experienced eyelids becoming less hooded as the day progresses and developing extra eyelid folds?

What specialist would be most appropriate—oculoplastic surgeon, neuro-ophthalmologist, allergist, or ENT?

Any ideas would be appreciated because this has been going on for years and I still don't have an explanation.

Should I see an eye doctor for dry eyes?

I'm curious how you decide when chronic dry eyes warrant an eye dr. visit. I've had dry eyes infrequently over the years, and now, i have daily dryness. After hours of looking at screens at work, i feel the need to use eye drops on an increasingly frequent basis. They provide relief, but the relief doesn't last.

I don't know if this is will continue to worsen, slowly impacting my quality of life. I would hate to learn this could have been preventable if i had just seen an eye doctor.

if you have dealt with this, what was your deciding factor for making your first appt? did you get a clear diagnosis, or were you given treatment recommendations for your dry eye?
