Do you expect more KoF characters in the future?

For COTW*

I feel like if 3 more seasons of DLC have been confirmed, many of those must come from those series. There are only like 4 more FF original characters I can see really coming back and being hype.

Duck King for fucking sure, Raiden could be interesting, Ryuji would be sick, and Yuri, but she is AoF, technically.

The only direction I see is KoF and guests...Am I tripping?

That could be incredibly cool

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol.1

Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol.1 here in all its 240p glory.

Just got the game. (Cotw)

Why is everyone just crazy online? I chose beginner but it doesn't seem to matter. I have some sf6 experience but it doesn't seem to matter. Trying to use basic fundamentals but it just doesn't matter. Everyone has these crazy confirms that sometimes goes for 20+ hits and can hit them consistently.

I lurked here a bit and I see some people saying new players don't need to focus on combos right now but I kinda think I do because I just can't compete with my opponents damage output no matter who I play against. I started with CR7 because I thought he was cool but I think he's a bit too technical for me so I switched to Precha and she feels alot better to play. I want to get better but Im not really learning anything when Im just looking at myself being put combos constantly.

Are the ACA NEOGEO Fatal Fury ports on Switch legit/good? Or am I overthinking the HAMSTER publisher thing?

Hey all, random question from someone newer to the older Fatal Fury games.

I was looking at Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and noticed the publisher/developer listed is HAMSTER instead of SNK.

Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but at first glance it felt a little weird/sus to me and made me wonder if these are actually legit official ports or some kind of low-quality emulation release.

Have people here bought these ACA NEOGEO versions on Switch? If so:
- are they considered good ports?
- accurate emulation/input-wise?
- worth buying?

Just wanted to sanity check before grabbing them. Cheers.

(8/26) Took getting PHD in charging, But Kain-ed to Legendary Wolf!

341 matches and a 51% winrate, feels about right.

Most fought character was Krauser Followed by Rock.

Less fought character was Ronaldo with 0 encounters.

Highest Winrate was against Mary, with 68.4% as any Spin Fall receives a Schwarze Lanze in reply

Lowest winrate to matchup ratio was Chun with 36.4% I just... Chuns scare me more for not having any idea what is behind their heads than the character itself, they did the most random shenanigans possible.

Kain was also a very fun character to use, but damn hard to get my head around his game plan, and I am glad I did this after his leg breaking, I studied what he could do and what he does now and the difference is very clear, even if nerfed he still has some very good tricks bellow the sleeve, and his most optimal antics require both very precise timings and awareness to what is happening.

But more important than anything else for anyone wanting to play Kain... You live and die by Schwarze Lanze, Schwarze Lanze is your best friend when you are down, your comfort food when tired of life, your bottle of Tequila after your soccer team loses and is eliminated off the tournament, Schwarze Lanze is the sole reason Kain is viable even with the nerfs, I just wish my brain connected the dots that no Krauser is ever safe to Tomahawk if Schwarze Lanze was on lock, and this move is the sole reason I learn Charge storing even if I stopped using it since I was dropping too many combos.

Oh yeah, Schwarze Rondo was also very cool, learning the orb set ups and watching my opponent be blown up by the mine was very damn fun, just hope they do a tiny ini bity reverse on Kain, Making his close HK on Counter push a tiny bit less so I don't need to practice micro steps to combo it into close HP.

In recent months, I played Fatal Fury Battle Archives 1 and 2. Here are a few thoughts.

(I've put in two images from Franco's ending in Real Bout 2, because it was quite a surprise to me to learn that Franco in orange is apparently just a body suit that Franco in blue is wearing.)

I had played the original Fatal Fury in an arcade once when I was a kid, and even though I sucked at it, it always kind of stuck out in my memory. I'm currently spending some time going through the classics from SNK. So far I've done both Fatal Fury Battle Archives, and in between them I did the Art of Fighting Anthology as well. On the horizon I have the KoF games from '94-'02, also Mark of the Wolves (in its Dreamcast form), and the Samurai Shodown Anthology as well.

I've been thinking of how I'd rank the games so far, and I think the way I've experienced them (all in quick succession) may have impacted my view of them a little. Near as I can tell, the Real Bout games are popularly held to be better than those in the original series (and then Mark of the Wolves seems like everyone's favorite, but I haven't gotten there yet). But I've got a slightly different feeling. I think my ranking would be:

  1. Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory

  2. Fatal Fury Special

  3. Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers

  4. Real Bout Fatal Fury Special

  5. Real Bout Fatal Fury

  6. Fatal Fury 2

  7. Fatal Fury: King of Fighters

So I've got the Real Bout series in the middle. But in truth, I was actually prepared to put the first Real Bout in last place. Ultimately I think its gameplay being clearly better than FF 1 and FF 2 has to keep it from that distinction, but after my Art of Fighting interlude I found Real Bout to be a bit of a letdown to come back to. Maybe it was the assets being reused from 3, it just didn't really feel like it was different to 3 aside from being harder. It's a superior game to FF 1 and FF 2 I'll say, but I think I enjoyed it the least before then moving on to the redesigns and in Real Bout Special and 2. I do think the Real Bout games improved with each iteration, with 2 in particular feeling like the moves were simplified in a good way.

It's a really tough call between FF Special and FF 3 for the top spot, but I found 3's gameplay to just flow a bit better. I loved the additions of Franco and Sokaku in 3, they both became favorites of mine. I'll say this, though: my top favorite character to play as across the series has been Joe Higashi, and I think he played better in Special than in 3. His low kick being a natural slide in 1, 2, and Special was a lifesaver for me, and beginning with 3 that changed to its own move.

The first game being at the bottom doesn't mean I think it's bad. I don't at all. I actually went back to it for just a little after getting through FF Special and, with a better feel for it, found it to be not as punishingly difficult as it had seemed at first. But it is definitely still a challenge.

From looking into it a bit, it seems like Rick Strowd has never been back after Real Bout 2, and Alfred Airhawk has barely been used, and I guess I'm not the first to say it but that's a real shame! I wasn't sure how I felt about Alfred's design at first, but I grew to like it a lot after fighting him at the end a couple of times. At first glance it seems like he has a cape, which feels like maybe just a bit too much, but I guess it's actually his flight scarf lending the appearance of a cape, which is kind of neat.

I'm looking forward to Mark of the Wolves a lot, but I'm going to take some time to try the KoF Orochi Saga next.

If you want people staying in the game stop this.

But why do so many good players stay at the beginner level or a low rank just to intimidate newcomers?

Do you want people to play the game or give it up? Is there some kind of private group that doesn’t want new players to join this game? Personally, I can handle it because I learned the hard way, but I just convinced a friend to start playing, and he got bullied by fake beginner players. Please explain this to me.

Kain R. Heinlein Color Edit as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil: Requiem (With a twist!)

Hello, boys! I'm BAAAACKKK!!!!

(In all seriousness, though, I'm finally back after Wolfgang Krauser's release and having fun with him. As for my Color Edit series, I have made this beautiful comeback set. Kain R. Heinlein as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil 9: Requiem with a twist: Hair and eye colors are from Angela Sant'albano (Grace's English-language VA). She has such adorable blue eyes.)
