i was in the IB program in high school and want to drop some of the equivalent gen ed courses for FIT since my scores meet their equivalency requirements, but i emailed the registrar about it multiple times and they've just ghosted me </3

so has anyone else had to apply transfer credits from IB before and if so what worked? i'm going to try to visit the office of registrar in person after move-in but i'm just worried it's too late

does anyone know if we have to get a new student id card if you’re no longer a dorming student? i noticed that students who dorm have a red id card (mine is red), meanwhile commuter students’ id cards are purple.

i dormed for freshman year, but this year i will be commuting. does this mean i will have to get a new card/get my card renewed so that it’s purple instead of red?

hi again! just curious going into fit as a freshman would leasing an apartment to commute to fit back and forth from be more or less expensive than traditional dorming?

I’m an incoming freshman and I’ve been wondering what kinds of perks come with being a student at FIT that aren’t necessarily advertised heavily. Are there any subscriptions, memberships, discounts, or services that students get for free or at a significantly reduced price? And which are worth taking advantage of?

For example:
- Free WGSN access?
- Vogue/other fashion publication subscriptions?
- Adobe or other creative software?
- Discounts or free access to off-campus gyms, yoga studios, museums, galleries, etc?
- Student memberships to fashion organizations or industry publications?
- Any NYC-specific student perks that FIT has partnerships for?

was wondering if anyone would like to give some input on some quick drawn outfits so I could narrow down some stronger ideas to submit for project 2

I am an international student applying for Fashion Business Management for Spring 2027. Unfortunately, my overall GPA from high school is 2.87, and my transcript has all B’s with some A’s in my last year of high school. However, I’ve done many projects and worked in the fashion industry: my biggest project so far is modeling for Cipriani BOLLETTINO Fall 2025, and I’ve also worked as a sales assistant in several shops (3 years of experience). Since I attended an art high school, I also completed several photography and video-making projects. Do I have a chance? I’ve been working on my essay since January, and this is my dream school.

hey! i’m rlly interested in fit and it basically checks everything off on my lists i was just curious bc i never get an in depth idea of the social scene at fit. i know it’s not a traditional college there’s no frats or sororities i assume. like is there a welcome week? do people have like dorm parties? is it more of a bar school? and if so how are u guys getting into bars or clubs if ur under 21. also one last question lol, how’s the diversity regarding gender and race is it a balance is there more woman than men etc? lmk!! thanks!

I really wanna get into FIT but i got around 65% marks in my 12th grade , Do i have a chance? FIT is my dream college so im a bit tensed about it. Please lmk

I’m a senior this August and my gpa is a 3.6 but I don’t have many electives related to fashion/art. I haven’t taken any APs either. However I volunteer for a dog rescue, and have been working consistently through highschool. I started a fashion blog website and TikTok page (not through school) and I plan to get a retail fashion position soon. Aswell as volunteer at thrift donations as it will tie into my essay. I plan to write my essay about how growing up financially struggling made me more creative in styling my clothes I did have and how I used it to shape my identity. It would also include how I believe FIT is the perfect school for me because everyone in Nyc has such ambition and a strive to follow their dreams, and I want to be one of those people. That’s a very loose concept but I was just wondering what my chances of admission would be with that? Sorry I forgot to add I would be applying for fashion buisness not the design and art school

Do fit dorms have filtered water available on their floors (like a water dispenser)? Or do I need a britta?

I’m currently in the one year FD program. Is it recommended to get the locker for $30?

As the title says I'm a little confused on how meal swipes work..
I guess it's a little with the cafeteria overall as well.
For meal swipes does it count as one meal only? No snacks included nor drinks? Or if you add that, does it count as a meal swipe alongside with my main meal.

I just want to know what's included in a meal swipe so I don't seem silly if I take too much or too little.

Hi, I'm wondering if those tiny skincare fridges are allowed in Nagler Dorms. I've seen some people say yes and some people say no and I can't find anything mentioning them in the handbook I found online. Does anyone know for sure if they're allowed in the 2026-27 school year?

so i'm currently brainstorming for my essay to apply for fall 2027 in the fbm aas program, but all of the applicants i've seen online (youtube, tiktok, reddit, etc) have included some kind of fashion extracurriculars in their essays. i'm a little concerned about this since i didn't have the chance to engage in fashion related extracurriculars during high school and would love to hear from current or future students about how much this will actually affect my application. thanks!!

I’m starting the one year AAS for fashion design in a couple weeks and haven’t heard about any supplies I’ll need for my classes. Would I typically find out before classes start, or once classes begin?
