Gigabyte B760 Gaming X DDR4 + i5-14600KF : CPU LED stuck on, no display after BIOS flash

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with a new PC build and I'm running out of ideas. I've been troubleshooting this for more than two days now, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

My setup is:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 GAMING X DDR4 (Gen5)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-14600KF
  • RAM: 2 × 16 GB DDR4 (Corsair)
  • GPU: RTX 5060Ti

The build was done correctly as far as I can tell. However, on the very first boot, the CPU diagnostic LED on the motherboard turned solid orange. It doesn't blink. None of the other diagnostic LEDs (DRAM, VGA, etc.) are lit, as you can see in the pictures.

I connected the monitor to the GPU, but I get no display at all, not even the BIOS.

I also tried connecting the monitor directly to the motherboard's video output, but there was still no display. I believe this is expected anyway since the i5-14600KF doesn't have integrated graphics, but I tried it just to rule things out.

Things I've already tried

To rule out a RAM issue, I removed one of the two 8 GB sticks and left only one stick installed in the second RAM slot from the CPU (the recommended slot).

I had also read that some BIOS versions might not support the 14th-generation Intel CPUs, so I decided to update the BIOS using Gigabyte's Q-Flash feature. I flashed it to the latest version available at the time, F7b.

During the BIOS flash:

  • The Q-Flash LED initially blinked red quickly.
  • It then started blinking more slowly at intervals.
  • Eventually, the LED turned off.
  • The PC powered off once and then powered back on.
  • After roughly three minutes, it powered off again and never powered back on by itself.

The whole flashing procedure took around 5-6 minutes.

I waited more than 15 minutes after the final shutdown, but the PC never restarted.

When I tried to turn it back on using the case's power button, nothing happened, almost as if the motherboard had entered some kind of protection mode. I had to:

  1. Turn off the PSU.
  2. Wait about 10 seconds.
  3. Turn the PSU back on.
  4. Press the case power button.

The PC then started again, but I still had no display, and the CPU LED remained solid orange.

I also tried booting the PC with no RAM installed at all, just to see whether the DRAM diagnostic LED would turn on. However, the CPU LED remained solid orange and the DRAM LED never lit up.

I disconnected all unnecessary peripherals and devices from the motherboard to isolate the problem, but the result was exactly the same.

Finally, I removed the CPU to inspect the socket and the CPU itself. I checked for:

  • Bent or damaged socket pins
  • Dirt or debris
  • Anything unusual on the CPU pads
  • Anything that could potentially prevent proper contact

As you can see in the pictures, everything looks clean and undamaged to me.

I also try to clear the CMOS using the jumper and also by removing the battery. But nothing changed.

At this point, I'm really not sure what else I can try.

Could this be a BIOS/CPU compatibility issue, a motherboard problem, or something else I'm overlooking?

I've been trying to solve this for more than two days now and I'm completely stuck.

Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
