games stuck on white screen

games stuck on white screen

I am using a R4 clone running woodr4 and some games when I try to open them (Assasins Creed, NSMB, Band Hero, Chrono Trigger, Any Kirby Game, Any Pokemon Ranger Game) will just white screen, whereas others work perfectly fine (All main line pokemon games, Final Fantasy XII, Mario Kart, Need for Speed MW), they work with NDS forwarder on the home screen but I was hoping to use this on an original ds, is there a fix for this? I have access to any OS

EZ Flash/Pokemon Cart Experts Unite

Hi friends, I've been lurking the sub for a week now learning from some wise folks. I would like some help understanding the following two carts.EZ Flash Air & JR

My aim is to play Gen 1 through Gen 3 Pokemon exclusively. I'm not interested in a DS or newer gens. I'll be playing these on a GBA SP. I would like to eventually trade Pokemon within my different games. So, I would need two carts and two consoles. In the beginning, I will acquire a SP and play Gen 1. I understand I would need a JR to play Gen 1 on my SP. Now, I don't understand why I can play, not emulate, Gen 1/2 on an Air cart on my SP? Someone was telling me about a physical switch being hit when using the two diff types of carts for GB/GC games VS GBA games. I'm not wrapping my head around this properly and I would like some help clarifying the logic behind all of this. I would like to natively play all 3 gens, not emulate (if possible), I would eventually need 2 carts to trade between my games (trading between all 3 gens), and eventually need another console to facilitate the trades. Please Ask any clarifying questions if needed. Any help would be appreciated.

Dead R4?

Since some time ago, my R4 flashcart refused to boot up correctly. I often have to remove and re-insert the microSD card to get past the "No card" screen, and after that I just get an endless white screen.

I flashed TWiLight Menu++ in place of the original firmware, so there's no timebomb (which used to go off in 2009 on the original firmware).

The flashcart was bought from the official online store back in the day, so it's maybe around 20 years old now.

Is this R4 definitely dead or is there some hope?

DsPico Launch Problem

Bit of a strange one, hopefully someone has the answer. I have a modded dslite which auto boots games on startup but for some reason the pico wont launch. I have tried with an old 2014 R4 and that works fine but the pico has problems. I currently have it flashed with hybrid firmware. Any suggestions please let me know!

Error: Data Abort! on Ace3dsXtd

Hello! After updating Twilightmenu++, I wanted to test the opening cutscene of Chrono Trigger, becauce it used to freeze before. Sure enough something happened, but not what I expected. Problems with freezing and weird textures used to happen in different games as well (Hotel Dusk: room 215 f.e.). My roms are from Myrient before it closed down. Im not sure if the problem is caused by my sd card or the roms (I think that the software is not a problem). Any help is appreciated!

(UPDATE): Changing the roms seems to have fixed the issues that I had.

How to fix white-screen on a ds lite with dspico?

I installed everything off of the DSpico GitHub page and followed all of the directions from the page but am still getting white screens whenever I launch a game. I’m using the SD card provided by DSpico.

Here are the solutions I have tried from my own research:

  1. Installing decrypted .NDS files
  2. Installing the Bios and firmware files and putting them on the SD card
  3. Installing DSiWare and trying to launch games with that/ tried the file dump

None of these have worked for me and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated!

M3 DSsimply

Picked up an M3 DSsimply for £3 on Vinted and it came with v1.02 beta of the kernel.

Think I’m going to keep this one as-is :)

I've had this flashcart for a while and only now it's showing a red light, is it supposed to do that?

Price DSpico

I’ve seen older threads where people said they bought a DSpico for as little as $2, but now I’m seeing it on AliExpress for around €18,99 (or $21.64). Why has the price increased so much?

Is it because of the same factors affecting storage and RAM prices, because the DSpico has become more popular, because availability is limited or is it a combination of those factors?

At the moment, I have TWiLight Menu++ running on my DSi XL. It works well, but it does take a while to boot and I’m curious about the DSpico and its future potential. I’ve also read that the DSpico consumes less power, which could mean longer play sessions between charges.

I recently bought a used DSi XL, so I’m not sure what the battery health is exactly. I might replace the battery as well.

So my main question. Is the DSpico worth buying for $21.64 if I already have TWiLight Menu++ installed on my DSi XL?

Buy DS Pico or keep this?

I have an old R4 that works fine. I've been using my ds quite a lot lately and I was wondering if there are benefits on buying a DS Pico.

Is it fastest? Maybe safer for storing save files? Better menus?

Also I've seen prices on Ali have increased :(

Edit: I have a DS Lite

RELEASE: N64ever - the definite flashcard menu based onN64FlashMenu-N64ever

https://github.com/bjerreman/N64FlashcartMenu-N64ever

Noobs: download sc64menu.n64 and put it on the root folder of your SD card.

Here are the highlight:

  • Favorites Grid is the home screen — a masonry layout of cover art, not a file list.
  • Universal "More" menu (R) — one menu for everything: launch, favorite, per-game art, grid settings, hardware, history, settings, file browser.
  • Inspect popup (A) — cover + a 2+2 metadata block (name/developer over date/region) and a scrollable description sized to fit without scrolling for most games; sits on top of the grid.
  • Shrink-wrapped File Browser popup — favorite ROMs (single or whole folders), launch, with a live favorites counter. Full file management (Copy/Move/Paste, Delete, Rename + Create folder via an on-screen keyboard), reachable even in an empty folder.
  • ROM boot — optionally boot a chosen ROM on power-on after a cancellable art countdown (userland, no firmware autoboot; hold START at boot to disable).
  • 60 fps render with per-frame animations tuned to match; grid Tile: Square/Box sizing.
  • Great metadata support - don't sweat it.
  • Built-in text database — 445 games with title/developer/dates/description (100% have a title + a back-of-box description). Binary-searched by 3-char base code.
  • Special editions — ROMs that reuse another game's NUS code (e.g. OoT Master QuestSmash Remix) get their own name/date/description + art, matched on the filename.
  • Build-type labels — Demo / Prototype / Beta ROMs are recognised from their filename dump tags and flagged in Inspect (so a missing cover reads as "this is a demo", not a bug).
  • Blank-cart placeholders — an uncovered game shows a realistic label-removed N64 cart (or 64DD disk) instead of a generic placeholder.
  • 64DD disc support — expansion discs (e.g. F-Zero X Expansion Kit) link to a base cartridge; the link is a manual, per-region disclink config (English ⇄ Japanese cache independently), and launching an unlinked expansion disc from Files offers to link it.
  • Animated screensaver — idle cover-art marquee; also used as the live background of the redesigned Menu Information (one scrollable list in a rainbow popup, N64ever logo on top).
  • Cancel/abort — B aborts a folder-favorite (full undo) or an A-Z sort mid-run.
  • Game Metadata register — on-device diagnostic of which art/text sources exist per game.
  • Custom splash — user PNG as the boot splash.
  • Everything is a popup over the grid (except a few deliberately-black screens).
  • 2048-favorite cap.

Much love,
Bjerreman

R4 help

Hi team, I’ve got this R4 that I’ve been using since around 2010. I want to be able to play GBA and GBC games on my DS lite along with my NDS games.
The R4 was set up (minus games) when I originally bought it, so I have no idea what I’m doing. Can anyone help me figure out what I need to do?

EZ Flash Omega DE crashed while playing a game, now all my saves are gone.

Before I started playing the game I had issues booting up the game or my GBA not recognizing the cartridge. Once I got it working 2 mins in, my game freezes and I have to reset my GBA. I went back to the same game to play but my save had vanished without me deleting it. I had looked at other games on the cart, and they also had lost saves, I then went into a GBA emulator to see if it was just the cart acting weird, but nothing showed up when booting the .SAV files. What should I do? Are they lost forever?

Every Drayano ROM Hack Works But Sacred Gold

To start off:

Why not use Twilight Menu?

Twilight Menu++ does not boot from DSpico on my 3DS because it’s an unmodified console. And honestly it seems a bit much to hack my handheld just for one game. Especially since I was able get Blaze Black and Volt White to work.

Is the ROM file clean?

I went out of my way to patch the game with both English and European ROMs. I even tried anti-piracy and No-intro files. The patcher will give an error and not create the new file if the ROM is not compatible as ROM hacks are built off of specific releases.

Aren‘t there pre-patched versions of the game available on ROM websites?

Those don’t load on the DSpico. I tried. I had to patch the games myself to get them to work. I was so happy to see the jiggling Pokéball icons, proving the system recognizes them as DSi enhanced. Trading with legit games work as well.

Right now, Sacred Gold is the only one I just can’t get running. I feel like I tried every version of the vanilla rom and every version of the patcher. Would I have to go further back than v1.05? If so, why does the v1.1.2 version of Storm Silver work perfect? I feel like I’m so close. There must be something I haven’t tried.

Help with overall process!

Hello all!

I'm just now reading and learning about all this. I'm now an old man with a little girl and I want to give her some of the same experiences I had growing up.

So I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about all of this. If my understanding is correct, for a flash cart, I'd also have to load it with software/OS for it to run? (I'm thinking GBA SP if I can find one for her). Seems like the older gba sp's wouldn't need modding they should just read it? But I'm having trouble finding what to load onto these flash carts?

I've seen the common/recommended brands. Do these have their own software preinstalled or something? is that why I'm not finding gba recommendations there? Do I only need to worry about loading the flashcart with roms if I just go with a gba sp?

And then, less flashcart related question, looking for a gba sp seems really sketchy, hit and miss. I see refurbished ones on aliexpress and ebay. I'll check out all the local pawn shops soon. What is the most reliable way to get the best condition gba in my hands? Is it possible, or even feasible, to build one with parts? Then I'd have to load the gba OS on it right? Is that floating around on the internet somewhere?

Please and thank you :)
