Most of you have probably noticed that the order of finish in the post-race table often does not match the order in which the finish line was crossed. I mostly notice this in the Race and Street classes. Since I like to see my parked vehicle get destroyed after the race, I can easily tell which car finished when, especially when I finish far ahead of the others. The ranking shown after the race can sometimes differ greatly.

I assume the original software programmers are unavailable to comment.

Does anyone have a plausible explanation for these obvious mistakes?

One of my assumptions was that this was done to give the closest competitor an advantage in the next races. Then, I thought that maybe the moment I crossed the finish line defined the final rankings. Neither of those seems to be the case.

No, it doesn't bother me. I'm just curious.
