Destiny 2 player looking for something new. Is Fallout 76 worth it in 2026

Hey everyone,

Fallout 76 is on sale right now, and I'm debating whether it's worth picking up.

I'm mainly a Destiny 2 player. I love the looter-shooter/ MMO-lite style where you can grind for gear, level up your character, and always have something to work toward. I've also played Warframe and enjoyed a little bit of that.

I've been looking at Warhammer 40,000: Darktide as well, but I already have Killing Floor 3 for my horde shooter fix, so I'm wondering if Fallout 76 might scratch a different itch.
I'll be playing mainly solo, so I'm curious how good the solo experience is.

I'm mainly looking for something new because, as much as I still enjoy Destiny, I know it's not going to keep me hooked forever. The new update has been really good, but the game is at the end of its cycle.

A few questions:
Being a Destiny player, would it still scratch that itch?

Is there a good endgame and enough content to keep you busy?

How good is the solo experience?

Would you recommend it in 2026, especially if it's on sale?

Thanks!

Chessboard Display in the Atomic Shop today

Just want to remind people that there is a bundle in the weekend sale section called Season 16 C.A.M.P Bundle which includes the chessboard Display. It's an item I use all the time and I know there are people out there on the lookout. I think the bundle is 780 atoms right now and it's only available for 1 day it says. So grab it if you want it!

Even the world oldest profession isn't safe from AI

These auto-miners have faulty programming, wrong kind of "grinding" is going on in the Ash Heap...

I’m trying to learn every plan for caps, I’ve gone to all the train vendors and all the vendors in the white springs. Where else can I go?

Just desserts or just mean?

Was taking part in the meat cook and there were only 3 or so people actually doing anything. 1 of my teammates was AFKing on the barrels. We did manage to succeed at the event but then Bigfoot arrived and I noticed that my teammate was still AFK. So intentionally maneuvered bigfoot over to them, so Bigfoot would kill them. It didn't work the 1st time but the 2nd time it worked perfectly. So was I justified?

Found at a camp today!

Wore my glowing abe and patriotic suit all weekend using mostly a black powder rifle to grind primal cuts. Found this at a camp and their camp alley was stuck on the firework trigger. Had to take a pic and share!

Did enemies get buffed recently, or did the meta change that much?

I was gone for a little less than a month after finishing last season. Did I miss something?

For context, I run a full VATS build, and every armor set I had on was built for it. For example, I have a full set of Limit-Breaker’s. I was running with Dom Pedro, and all my perks were set up for that build.

We were doing Prime Meat, finished it, and then Bigfoot showed up. There were maybe five of us because it was late at night. I thought we would be fine since there were a few level 1500 players there, plus me at level 750.

Five minutes later, we had only done about 25% damage to Bigfoot. I was only doing around 200 normal damage, and sometimes I would see an 800 crit. Eventually, we all just left because it was taking too long.

Then the next day, I logged on and saw someone had popped a bounty. We had at least 10 people there, but all the 2-star and 3-star enemies took forever to kill. This time, I was running what used to be my raid-level power armor with a Gauss Minigun, and it still took forever.

So I’m wondering: what did they do to enemies, and what is the meta now? It kind of sucks being gone for less than a month and coming back to the meta feeling this different.

I’m honestly just getting tired of having to change my armor and guns every season. I would hate to be a fresh level 100 trying to play solo right now.

Edit: Thank you guys so much i thought i was going crazy! Was super quick! Turns out i was being dumb, and they just changed the tankyness of some enemies.

Pets in combat is one of the worst ideas so far

Whoever made this decision is so out of touch of this game and community, it's not even funny.

Fix known bugs first, give us more content/weapons/mods/raids but ditch this stupid idea no one asked for.

Can’t build excavator armor

Hello! I’m finally trying to complete Miner Miracles so I can have a PA station in my camp for other players. I don’t use PA normally but I wanted to have a station. I have all the mats needed and then some (fo1) but when I try to craft it at a station I can’t do anything. What am I missing? I have googled everything I can think of and found nothing. Tia

What are some things your are still finding out about even after lvl 300?

I just hit lvl 375 and had no clue about the critical bar and when to use it. This whole time I thought the yellow hit numbers were critical hits...

What are your favorite high power daily driver builds? Preferably high health human, wanting to change it up from my shotgun build.

Title. I've been playing a shotgun build for a while now as a high health human, and while it's fun I do get the itch to try something different, probably something either auto or semi auto or that isn't the combat shotgun/pepper shaker (I don't have the guass shotgun yet and I'm waiting until it gets sold in like a month or whenever), what would you recommend or what have you been enjoying?

Burning Springs disappointment

I’ve recently come back into my Fallout hyper-fixation phase and been playing everything I missed in Fo76. Just finished the Burning Springs expansion and was pretty disappointed. A few thoughts:

- Bullet sponges are a pain and completely ruin immersion
- Why was The Ghoul so hyped up for this and the face of all the promo when he had the smallest role imaginable and was utterly unnecessary
- Highway Town was really cool. Loved the concept, loved the execution. Could have had more named characters but overall was a very nice addition that felt very Fallout if that makes sense
- I’m not really a fan of the Rust Raiders taming Deathclaws. It hugely downplays one of the Enclave’s shows of strengths by taming and controlling Deathclaws to fight for them when some random group of raiders can do it to and seemingly more effective

And now for my main disappointment. The quest line was bad. It had great potential to be an epic quest line but instead was just kind of a flop. I loved the idea of gathering an army to take down the tyranny of the Rust King. But then it was just pathetically bad with the “army” being 4 people against an actual big army.

I’d have instead had the questline be longer. Gathering an army could depend on choices you’ve made throughout your gameplay. Yeah you recruit those 3 people from the expansion but then maybe you could go back to Appalachia and try to persuade allied factions to join the fight he before the Rust King invades. If you sided with Rahmani then maybe you can encourage the BoS to send a couple vertibirds for arial support. If you side with Shin he refuses because he doesn’t want the BoS helping people.

Perhaps you could recruit Crater or Foundation to send some fighters depending on who you allied with for the Vault 79 heist. If you’re a Ghoul you could recruit the Revenants.

Could even make it an event akin to Scorched Earth where it’s still a mission that plays a critical role in the story. You put a call-out to other Vault 76 residents to assist in taking down the tyrant.

But no. Get 3 people to help you take on a full fucking army.

I know it ended with the Rust Ming saying this isn’t the last time he’ll face the player but I don’t expect anything to come from that line beyond maybe one more extremely minor questline where nothing happens. I feel like almost every update they have an amazing opportunity and yet they very rarely hit the mark.
