Local pharmacy recommendations

Does anyone have a go to pharmacy in Fort Greene? I'm trying to avoid CVS and honestly considering just sending prescriptions out to Costco since they have great prices.

Thank You Bishop Laughlin Staff & Students

Shoutout to the students and staff from Bishop Laughlin HS who were cleaning up trash under the BQE this morning. Your effort is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I hope that community members who did not see all of the hard work that you were doing will nonetheless appreciate it and will maybe think twice before they dump their trash on the street.

Starting or joining a casual Sunday night film club

Hi! I used to be part of a weekly film club where we'd watch a film out at a theatre, or someone's apartment if there was space and they felt comfortable hosting. I really miss the routine, and also have wanted to do it frequently Sunday nights to fight the Sunday scaries.

Does anyone know of any existing Sunday film clubs, or is interested in starting one together?

If starting, am thinking we would start with a few at a theatre in Brooklyn (we can choose once we have a critical mass and know everyone's commute), and maybe get a few drinks after if we are vibing.

cute hotels/"bed and breakfast"/ air b n bs near by for family to stay in?

Hi! I live in fort greene (small apartment) and my family is visiting in October and looking for somewhere to stay October 10-14 with 1-2 bathrooms, 1-2 bedrooms, kitchen, preferably outdoor space. And available parking. Since air b n b laws have changed since the last time they visited, they're having trouble finding anything that way. Does anyone have ideas of where they could stay that meets as much of that criteria as possible? Really going out on a limb here- but would anyone be interested in subletting their place for those days?

Found a small maltipoo type dog with a harness and leash still attached on Marcy/Lexington Friday, August 14. No collar or microchip. Seems to be less than a year old. Please reach out if you know anyone who might know the owner!

Hang with my dog during the work day?

I've worked remote for 5+ years, but I just got a new job that requires me in-office 4 days a week. My dog goes to daycare, but I'd love to find a human for her to chill with 1-3 days a week and get into a little routine dropping her off/picking her up.

About Pretzel:
10.5 years old
10 lbs
Mostly sleeps during the day but loves a good walk

Obviously will pay and we can talk about what feels fair!

Triangle (from the owners of Strange Delight around the corner) is going into the Island Shack space

The plans are a small room, 24 seats at tables and seven at the bar, open from noon to midnight each day. Background music indoors, no DJ or live music. It goes in front of the community board in September.

Lifetime fitness vs. Chelsea Piers?

Looking to join either Lifetime on Atlantic (Prospect heights) or Chelsea piers in downtown Brooklyn. I used to be an equinox member, so ideally something that has the same amenities and vibe.

I am also interested in using the childcare option for my 3 month old every once in a while.

Looking for anyone who has experience with either facility or better yet both. Thank you!

In Person *GASP* Moving Sale 8/15

I know that we all hate people and do not want to talk to each other without screens, but I have decided to host an in-person moving sale in my apartment. There are tons of things (not all is shown in photos), including furniture, small, decorative items, linens, organizational stuff, rugs, random kitchen things, and free puppies. If you are a murderer or have a deep contempt for humanity, I ask that you not join us on Saturday. 11 to 3, no early humans and no stealing my cats.

If I'm in a good mood on Saturday morning, there will also be lemonade.
Venmo or Zelle only.

If you want the address, please send me a message...

CSA/Farm Share

Hi neighbors! We are moving to the neighborhood soon (kinda on Fort Greene/Clinton Hill line) and I’m curious about recommendations for CSAs or farm shares! I have seen recommendations for Farm to People but don’t know much about it. I have also seen seasonal ones like Greene Harvest and Clinton Hill CSA. I know that the seasonal ones require sign ups for 2027 (when they open). Open to any thoughts or recommendations. Thank you!

PSA: Parents, do not do this

As a parent, this was deeply distressing to witness. Please do not citibike with your child strapped too low, while wearing flip flops, fiddling with your phone, and forgoing helmets for you and your infant.

Ruggable Rugs/Laundromat Recs?

Anyone have experience actually washing one that's larger than an entry mat or hallway runner? I have a 6'×9' medium pile, that I believe is just a tad too bulky for my washer at home and don't want to find out the hard way.

Please share your recs for a laundromat with GOOD, XL machines that can handle a rug that size. I drive, so I can theoretically get anywhere, but definitely would prefer places north of Flatbush, so I'm not traveling over 40 mins each way for this task.

Thanks.

  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Shuffleboard
  • Pétanque
  • Roller dance
  • Hockey
  • Disc golf

  • Canoeing
  • Guitar
  • Violin
  • Ukulele
  • DJing
  • Mushroom identification
  • Plant identification

  • Plus lots of recurring craft nights and open studios.

The full guide includes prices, neighborhoods, and start dates (there are 70+ listings across Brooklyn).

Hope many of you find it helpful or inspiring!

If I missed any great classes or recurring meetups, I'd love to add them for the next edition.

Off-Leash Reactive Dogs

If you’ve witnessed your dog get reactive towards another dog he should be kept on a leash for your dogs own safety.

As a dog owner myself I wouldn’t like our privileges to be taken away because of irresponsible dog owners. I understand people want their pets to enjoy some liberties but it makes it really difficult for the rest of us who have calm tempered dogs to interact with dogs that have clear issues.

Urgent Cat Foster Needed!

Hi everyone,

Reposting with a photo and more information! This kitty urgently needs a foster by this weekend! Her current fostering situation is about to expire and she needs someone to take her on short or long term!

You may recognize the kitty from Ft Greene Pl where she lived her whole life with her sister, who unfortunately passed away a few months ago. After her sister's death, the tabby was forced from her territory and struggled with grief, but now that she's in foster care, she is healthy, eating well, and relearning to trust.

Some information about her:

She is 8-10 years old, 7 pounds, vaccinated/spayed, disease and pest free, and litterbox trained. If you've met her, you'll know that she's a real sweetie, well-socialized, very friendly and affectionate, mild-mannered with a sense of humor. A sweet lap cat personality is in her future.

We can provide a litter box, litter, food, and anything else that may be needed.

If anyone has any leads, please comment or shoot me a message! Help give back to a kitty who gave the community so much!
