Is this huitlacoche?

I’m hoping to have found fungal gold for my first time!

Can someone please confirm or otherwise ID?

If it is huitlacoche- what’s my harvesting timeline like?
Should I wait for the ear to grow more before harvesting?

Any advice appreciated! :D

[Academic] Help Test My AI Mushroom Recognition Web App (18+)

Hi everyone!

I’m currently completing the final stage of my Computing & IT degree and I’m looking for participants aged 18+ to test a prototype AI image-recognition application I’ve developed.

The app compares three different CNN models — Baseline CNN, ResNet18 and MobileNetV2 — using mushroom image recognition.

Testing only takes a few minutes:

  • Upload an image
  • Select whether it is a mushroom, not a mushroom, or you’re unsure
  • See how the three AI models classify it
  • Complete a short feedback form

You can use mushroom images from the internet, photographs you’ve taken yourself, or non-mushroom images to see how the models respond.

🍄 Need a mushroom image to test?
You can browse fungi on iNaturalist here:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?view=species&iconic_taxa=Fungi

This is also useful because you can see the identified mushroom alongside the image and compare it with what the AI predicts.

Please be honest with your feedback — positive or negative. If something is confusing, doesn’t work as expected, or you think something could be improved, that is genuinely useful for my project evaluation.

🤖 Test the app here:
https://tm470-mushroom-cnn.streamlit.app/

The application is an academic prototype only and must not be used to determine whether a mushroom is edible or safe.

Participation is voluntary and greatly appreciated. Thank you to anyone who gives it a try! 🍄

Is this fungus!? I have seen fairy circles with capped mushrooms , but not like this, EVER! Northeast Ohio, US

My friend and I were on a hike today in Cleveland Ohio, and we saw many many mushrooms. We saw ghost pipe, chicken of the woods, oyster mushrooms, and more! Twas a fun walk! But then we came across this basically perfect circle of white fungus( at least I’m assuming it was fungus) I couldn’t tell what else it could be up close. Let me know your thoughts and if you’ve seen this before. ⭕️⚪️⭕️⚪️⭕️ it kind of scared us. It was not paint. Like I said up close it was definitely some type of fungus or something growing. What weirded us out is that it’s in a perfect circle basically

Recommendations

Looking for good YouTube channels to learn about mushrooms 🍄
Hey everyone! I’ve recently become really interested in mushrooms and fungi, and I’d love to learn more about them beyond just the basics.
Does anyone know any good, trustworthy people on YouTube who make videos about mushrooms, fungi identification, foraging, mycology, or just interesting fungi in general?
I’m especially looking for channels where I can actually learn something and not just watch pretty mushroom video.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations! 🍄

Mushroom ID help — dog may have ingested a small piece

Found growing on the ground in a wooded/forest area in pelham bay park New York, next to exposed tree roots.

Mushroom was white to cream colored throughout. Underside had closely spaced white/cream gills. Stem was long, slender and white/cream, with a somewhat fibrous/scaly texture. I unfortunately don’t have a good photo of the intact cap because it broke apart. The stem/base is still in the ground in the attached photos.

My dog grabbed the mushroom and I immediately removed most/all of it from her mouth, but she may have swallowed a small amount. This happened about 2 hours ago and she currently has no symptoms.

Looking for help identifying the mushroom, particularly whether it could be a toxic species. Photos show the gills, broken cap and remaining stem/base.

My yard is a treasure trove of mushrooms.

After a great deal of rain, mushrooms have sprouted everywhere in my yard. These are just the ones from my front yard. I'm unsure of any ids if anyone wants to give an assist there.

Fairy Circle next to the house I cleaned today.

Had to be bigger than 5 foot in diameter. Didn’t have a banana for scale.-.

I’ve been looking at mushrooms for too long…. (See below)

This was on a subreddit completely unrelated
To mushrooms. I sat there a good 45 seconds trying to make sense of it. My brain was trying to convince me it was some weird mutation of enigma with penis envy caps sprouting from
It and little pieces of substrate on the caps.
Turns out it’s just a fucking cake. And not the kind you rehydrate for multiple flushes! I’m dying 😂💀
