Spain winning the Euro and Brazil dominating the FIFA rankings proves European tactical rigidity is closing the gap on raw South American flair.

I’ve been watching a ton of tape comparing Spain’s Euro 2026 championship run to Brazil’s latest international matches. It really feels like we're watching two entirely different philosophies reach perfection right now.Brazil relies so heavily on uncatchable 1v1 wingers who can break down an Ala on an island. Spain, on the other hand, plays like a highly calibrated machine where every block, overlap, and defensive switch is calculated down to the millisecond. Antonio Pérez's hat-trick in the Euro final was pure spatial awareness and execution of set routines rather than individual improvisation. If the two styles met on a neutral court tomorrow, which philosophy reigns supreme? Is the raw unpredictability of South American 1v1 mastery still the gold standard, or has European collective tactical drilling completely solved it?

What futsal ball do you guys playing with?

As title says. Some of my teammates likes Select more because of grippy texture which helps especially on dirty courts, some like Adidas more because is more soft while shooting.

Futsal’s Expansion is Hard to Ignore

Futsal is growing fast, even if it doesn’t always get mainstream attention. What used to be seen by some as a development tool for football is slowly becoming a serious global sport.

More countries are now investing in futsal programs, entering competitions, and building proper national setups. The gap between traditional powerhouses like Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and Argentina and the rest of the world is still there—but it’s starting to close in some regions.

Club futsal is also leveling up, especially in Europe and South America, where leagues are becoming more professional and tactical. Players are specializing in futsal from early on instead of treating it as a side sport.

On the pitch, the game itself is evolving—more structure, faster transitions, and smarter set plays.

The big question now is whether futsal can break fully into the mainstream or remain a strong but under-covered global sport.

Futsal is the mother of football, and the reason why South American footballer are so skilled.

Before anyone comes at me, hear me out first! Almost 90% of the most exciting, skillful and talented football players I have watched come from South America, mostly Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. These are players who will get you glued to the screen when you watch them. I swear, you wouldn't want any distractions.

I came to realize that futsal has been so popular in South America, and these players grew up playing futsal from a young age. The explosiveness, with the ball glued to the foot is all because of futsal. The foot-works leaving opponents behind or on the ground is all thanks to futsal.

I am sure if futsal was more popular, and paid better than football, many would stick to it than try to transition to professional football.

Why is futsal less popular over the world? Why aren't their star players not known like the soccer/football players?

How come the most entertaining and thrilling sport, even more than football/soccer itself (in my opinion) is not as popular, nor are it's star players known by most people over the globe?

If you asked most people to even name who won the futsal champions league last season, they wouldn't know. Most wouldn't even name a single futsal player.

This is quite unfair to be honest. Is it the funding, sponsors, TV rights, or the payments? This sport should be up there with football/soccer in my opinion.

Or maybe we should just market it ourselves to everyone around us.

Copa del Mundo Futsal 2026 will be hosted in Brazil from October 7–13, 2026, featuring six teams.

I can't wait to watch these games. I am sure they will be electric and entertaining. The best part about this is they will be played in Brazil.

Playing in Brazil against Brazil in futsal is the equivalent of playing football in Argentina against Argentina. The atmosphere, the pressure, the experience. Regardless of the result, this will develop most futsal players immensely.

I randomly watched futsal online and now I can't stop. How has this sport not taken over the world yet??

Genuinely didn't know what futsal was a few months ago. Stumbled across it online and figured I'd give it a few minutes. Two hours later I was still watching, completely hooked.

I don't even fully understand how it hasn't gone properly mainstream yet. The pace is absolutely relentless. There is not a single second of downtime — the moment a team loses the ball it's instantly a counter attack, and the court is so small that transitions happen in the blink of an eye. Compared to regular football, it feels like someone 2xed the speed.

The skill on display is just ridiculous. These players are controlling and passing in tight spaces that wouldn't even be seen in an 11-a-side game because someone's foot would literally be on the line. The close control, the one-twos, the quick pivots, all insane stuff.

This is where the real entertainment is at. This is where all the thrill is found. It's now a new favorite.

Is it just me or does futsal produce more technically clean players...

Every time I watch high-level futsal, I notice how composed the players are under pressure. Tight control, quick passing, constant movement, and crazy decision-making speed.

It honestly makes sense why so many elite footballers grew up playing it. You either improve technically or get exposed immediately

Chemi was the factor X of the Champions League final four

It’s fair to say that Chemi’s injury in the semifinal against Sporting defined the outcome of the Final Four.

He was a beast during the first period and at the start of the second. But when he got injured, I saw the faces of the Cartagena players drop.

The penalties were miraculous for Cartagena, and Chemi could have been their savior, because last year he faced Sporting in the third‑place match and kept a clean sheet in the second period, plus 3 saves out of 5 in the shootout.

Some fan of Cartagena in Pesaro thought the same...

To be honest, Cartagena would have lost against Palma, but that’s the story of this sport. Congratulations to Sporting.

What a game! Sporting CP wins the UEFA futsal champions league against Palma Futsal.

Props to Sporting CP man. That was an incredible game from them. Beating a Spanish team is always not easy but they did it, and to add the juice on it, they did it with a red card. How is that even possible?

Most teams would crumble after a red card, but Sporting held on and even scored another goal after being a man down. I believe this is just because the team is brilliant and has very talented players.

Zicky can have all the praise he wants, because that was a great display from him. Sporting are lucky to have him on their side.

What might be the issue and how can I solve it?

Ever since Friday yesterday I’ve been playing quite bad. My touches and decision makings has been especially bad. I do feel like it is my confidence but either way I do not know what to do. Yesterday I had a futsal game where I played bad and let a few goals in but it was fine because pre season games. What can I do to improve my decision making and solve the issue?

SPORTING DID IT

I just saw that sporting beat Palma 2-0 in the final to win the UEFA futsal champions league. Palma had won the last three in a row and sporting just ended their streak. Diogo Santos scored early and then they held on even after he got sent off. An own goal late sealed it. Zicky got player of the tournament too, feels like a huge moment for Portuguese futsal.

Our keeper moved away. No one else wanted the gloves, so I raised my hand. Big mistake.

First game back, I let in seven. Not even nice goals-a nutmeg, one that slipped through my fingers, another I just watched like a fan. My captain didn't yell. He just looked at me and said, "Dude… just stay big." I nodded like I knew what that meant.

I called my girlfriend after and told her I was quitting. She laughed and said, "You said the same thing when you tried to learn guitar." She's right. I'm gonna show up next week and probably get scored on again. But hey, someone's gotta do it.

Anyone else ever switch positions and feel like a rookie all over again? Tell me I'm not alone.
