Upgrade

Hello there. I've used the S20 fe for almost 6 years, and it's a great phone, however it's time to change. I really like the Z flip 7. I was thinking on buying the dark blue, 512 GB. I really don't have many doubt about doing it, I think it's a gorgeous phone, with great capacities. Any comments on it?

Installed Ui 8.5 on Flip 6, now phone shuts down when I close lid

I just installed 8.5 and right after now whenever I close my screen, the phone shuts off. Is this coincidence and my phone is mechanically broken inside? or is the software causing the issue? I was planning on a factory reset but that wont fix the 8.5 operation system?

Something else I have noticed, the little top screen feels hot even though it is not on and the phone has been open running the main screen. I have deleted cache from One Ui home and also good lock and multistar which could be an issue. I put my phone in maintenance mode which disables all apps and it still shuts off when screen is closed.

something else, when the phone is CLOSED and power off, it recognizes USB cable plugged in and shows the charge status and battery percentage. so that makes me wonder is it more of a software issue?

New Update Bricked my Phone: Please, any help

My internal screen has been broken for about 7 months and I have been using only my external screen. I have made it work all his time but! the update last night is forcing me to open settings on the internal screen or it just locks me out.

I have heard of the plug-in screen method but I can't connect new bluetooth devices (i.e. a mouse) to change any of the settings.

Is there any way to set up external UI settings WITHOUT getting to the internal screen or any way to connect a bluetooth mouse when I can't get into the settings at all?

Please, I cannot get into the phone and its completely bricked now because I can't get to the apps I had on there without updating this settings problem...

Should I keep my Z Flip 7 or should I Return it?

Hey everyone i don't usually post on reddit but I'm stuck between keeping my ZFLP7 or Returning it. This is kind of a rant but I just wanted other perspectives of opinions.

For context I used to have an S25+ as my main phone but I had my eye on the ZFLP7 since it's release and while it was on sale I got one, 512G which is the same storage i have on my S25+.

Before anyone says 'owning two phones is greedy' i was planning on giving my sister my S25+ as she is planning to move from Apple to Samsung.

Reason why I'm even considering on returning my ZFLP7 is because I'm worried about the long-term, I don't drop my phone and since having the phone I've mostly used the cover screen where I can to avoid opening the phone to much and I have a good case with hinge protection.

In regards to what worries me about the long term is how long the screen will last before it goes, the hinge (despite it being in a good case), and update's as ive seen on here some people are having issues with apps on the cover screen.

There's nothing wrong with my ZFLP7 and I do love how small and compact the phone is and how some jacket's and jeans are more comfortable to wear without a 'Slab' in my pocket, I like the sleek feel and overall how cute the phone is and how comfortable it is holding it when closed.

I do miss the camera of my S25+ but I knew the camera situation with the ZFLP7 camera prior to purchasing so I think i just miss the 30x zoom which i didn't use frequently but it was a nice feature.

Obviously there's no interference difference's as both phones are practically identical in that sense.

The crease doesn't bother me on the ZFLP7 and i hardly notice it but as mentioned previously it does worry me when and if it will give up even though I'm careful when using the phone unfolded.

I do miss having 'fun' cases but I think its just the novelty of buying different cases and not thinking too much of its protection for the phone.

I know the ZFLP7 has some cute protective cases but I'm not too keen on them which is a fault on my part I know.

The cover screen is nice but I know that it's basically what my S25+ does without the flip part because really the only difference is a home screen. The cover screen is basically a lock screen, notifications and apps. A mini phone i guess? I know what I mean 😅

All in all if I had to send the ZFLP7 and go back to my S25+ I dont think it would bother me to much, and worse comes to worse I could just wait for the S27+ next year if i wanted to and from the fake leaks and such I do like the colours that could be a possibility such as the dark red that's been floating around but even if that didn't happen I'd most likely get what's available or stay with my S25+ till the S28+ or something.

Also If i did return my ZFLP7 no my sis isn't without a phone, her iPhone 14 Pro still works she's just tired of Apple and wants to switch, and as for 'why can't your sister have the flip?' She doesn't like it at all.

Any and all questions are welcomed and to any who respond, Thank you and ill try to reply soon as.

My Z flip 5 will charge but won't connect to external accessories? Including power banks. It will only charge via wall plug.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? It won't connect to external controllers, power banks via charging, anything external, but doesn't have any issue connecting to a wall plug?

Phone advice

Hello!!! I really want to get a modern flip phone but I've heard some bad things about both and I just want to ask which one is better?? I'll probably be getting a z flip 5/6 or a moto 2024/2024+ (cause their cheaper lol)

#must be customizable #must be able to withstand slamming shut (like they used to do with flip phones back in the day 😂) #must be durable for at least 4+ years #must be able to run heavy hitting games like cookie run kingdom

Has the Zflip screen improved significantly since 2023?

Seems like a silly question since it's been 3 years but I had one back then and loved it, but managed to bust the screen twice in a span of like a year from what I would consider normal use (an accidental drop and then the other time it just happened randomly). I'd say I'm still probably about the same amount of rough with my phone now, but I miss my zflip. Has it gotten stronger in more recent models?

New to Flip 7. Worried about the screen

Hey I'm new to the Flip series and gotten a Flip 7. I love it but the more I sit on the thought the more I feel anxious.

I'm a very clumsy person. I'm use to putting screen protectors onto my phones and hard cases all the time. So when I do drop it, my screen is safe. I know the Flip 7 comes with a screen protector but I also know I can't remove it without help.

I'm on contract with Three with the Flip 7. And I've only had it for a week and this has gotten me worried because I know myself and I know I am super clumsy.

Has anyone damaged their screen before? Gotten scratches etc? If so how easy was it to replace the screen?

I love it a lot but the thought of being clumsy and not being able to protect on my own it is making me a little nervous.

A flip 4 inner screen is acting crazy

I’ve been using the z flip 4 as my second phone and out of the blue, the adhesive on the back panel came off, the outer screen works fine but the inner screen is being weird, what diy fixes can I do to repair this? I can feel the haptics when I touch the back button on the bottom and the inner screen just throws different colours at me. I give up trying to call Samsung, if anyone has and home fix ideas, shoot!

I’m scared but excited

Had an iPhone since the 4 and in between upgrades tried phones like the Xperia Z1 compact and S25. I don’t mind android although most of my life has been upgrading through iPhones.

When the flips started coming out I was intrigued and find that it’s matured to a good point now. I ordered a Z flip 7 and coming from a 15 pro. I’m looking forward to pocketable compact as an old iPhone mini fan. I’m not huge on cameras mostly point and shoot is fine.

I am worried about the reliability and the durability although I will say there are a good amount of posts saying there haven’t been issues etc. any tips for me?

The new update isn't doing well on my end

Certain styles and layouts won't work like they used to. For example my recent apps layout has changed, and even when going through Goodluck to change the layout it won't work. Plus the update has taken away all stickers, widgets I've had on my home screen, and it took away a wallpaper I had on my cover screen. I've tried restarting my phone but nothing has changed. Is there a way I can fix this?

Flip 6 - Now 8.5?

Hi everyone! I have the Flip 6 and heard about 8.5 is coming to Canada on the 17th. It's currently the 19th(as I write this) and I still don't have the update.

Is anyone else experiencing this? How do I go around this?

I really like the new look for 8.5 too :( I'm a sucker for aesthetic stuff.

Flip 6 or 7?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about buying a new phone and I'm really considering to get the Samsung Flip. I can get the Flip 6 fairly cheap so I'm wondering if it's good enough or should I go for flip 7, which is a little bit more expensive but still something I can afford.

Thank you.

Best Screen Protector Replacement to buy for Z Flip 7

I'm getting some air bubbles on my screen near the fold, and want to change it.

There are no samsung stores close to me, and I'm not willing to mail it in for this small of a issue. I've gone to a few phone repair stops and none of them having the screen protectors in stock.

So what has been the best screen protector replacement you've used?

testing my luck and coming back to the flip

I have a z flip 6 that ended up having a flex issue and the inner screen stopped working after only 5 months of use. It was left aside for a year to be a lovely paper weight after samsung voided my warranty for no reason. Last week i decided to have it fixed in a third party repair shop. Hell, i love this phone. Hate samsung though.

Flip5 Cover screen controller?!

Hey guys! So, I've been rocking this Flip5 like this because the inner screen is broken. It works fine for what it is, but it's very cramped and the controls are over the game, so I am wondering if anyone knows of a controller that could fit either on the sides or under the phone. I am also open to any DIY ideas.

How much worse is the external display functionality compared to the Razr?

I currently have a Razr 60 Ultra, which is great. but lacks DeX - huge for me who's using AR glasses a lot. I've been hearing that the external screen on the Flip is a lot less capable, and been trying to find out how much of that you can hack around. As I understand it, you install Good Lock and enable what's functionally a widget that lets you launch apps. This is similar to native behavior on the Razr. Only the settings app is really prohibited from running externally on the Razr, so is that also the case on the Flip once you enable this widget?

The more advanced method on the Razr is to use an automation app like Tasker to intercept the launching of the APK that controls the external screen, and then launch another app in its place - like a full launcher. This lets you run any launcher on the Razr's external screen, with some quirks. I've not seen a similar hack mentioned on the Flip though?

need help choosing

A while back, my Flip 5 took a hard fall and a black spot appeared on the screen. The spot is getting bigger, and I’m not sure what to do next.

Should I save up to get the screen repaired, or sell the Flip 5 and buy an S24? I’m also thinking about buying a Flip 6, but now I’m afraid I’ll break that one too.

What's the longevity and battery like on the newer models? My flip 3 is 5 years old and still going strong but I may want an upgrade

My coworker told me I'm an outlier because she got a z flip 3 and it died within two years but I'm 5 years in and my only issue is the battery life is getting worse. I usually deal with that by just making sure I have a portable power bank with me. I'm kinda waiting for my phone to eventually die before upgrading because I don't see the point in getting a new phone if mine works fine, but I want to know how they compare.

How's the longevity on the never devices? How much of an improvement is the camera and battery life?
