Spigen Neo one case on flip 8

Love this case ! Makes the color pop, fits well and feels nice. Maybe not the grippiest case but with a PopSocket it doesn’t really matter 😬

For everyone who has got the Flip 8, how's your battery doing?

Screen time, battery usage and any settings enabled, please?

I'm getting 4-5 hours ish SOT with light use (no gaming but lots of spotify) 5 days into owning the phone

Adaptive battery off, Charging 100-20, Light mode, Most apps in deep sleep that I don't use, 5G disabled cuz i don't need it, Battery saving mode when phone is closed

Do these phones get extremely hot or is it just me?

Out of all of the phones I had this phone gets blazing hot whether its charging, on carplay or rarely when Im just using it. Why is that?? I have a z flip 6 btw maybe the flip 7 and 8 are better at this.

Move from iPhone…

Any thoughts on moving from a 16 Pro to the flip 7 or 8? I’m well ingrained in the Apple universe so this would be me dipping my toe in 😅

Flip 8 case.

Got my Flip 8 last week and have been using the free case from Samsung. I bought a XUNDD case with a hinge protector, and it looks super bulky. Also, it feels like there's tension on the hinge when I try opening and closing it. I'm now looking for a MagSafe case without a hinge. Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

This is normal correct?

Is the phone meant to be a little bent or flat? Either way its cool no big deal. Just wanted to hear others opinions

Using a flip phone on a motorbike?

Does anyone use a flip phone on the motorbike as a gps? I just got my flip 8 today after many ups delays. Ive always used my normal slab phone as a gps but im wondering would this be a bad idea with the flip due to the screen being the way it is.

Anyone have experience with this? I have one of those phone holders where the phone is in a small clear pocket thats clamped shut. Ive had no issues with any of my other phones but obviously for my first phone over 500€ i am a bit worried.

If anyone uses a secondary phone as a gps instead id love to hear your thoughts. But the thought of moving sim from phone to phone sounds awful.

Cover Screen

Question, I just got the flip 8. (Had a 5 years ago so I'm somewhat familiar.) I've been watching YouTube videos for tips and tricks and the most common videos are for the 7 which i know is similar.

On the cover screen in videos, you could scroll back to the unlock screen/time. I also remember being able to do this. But it appears on the 8 its not an option now? You have to lock the phone to go back to the home screen.

Is there a setting im missing or was this ability removed?

Successful Credit Card Dispute on Uncovered Repair!

So I successfully disputed Samsung's repair charge with my credit card! Resolved in my favor, saved $350.

I had texted Samsung support and we went back and forth about the damage. I requested pictures and they gave me one which was of the top of the screen. I requested more and the damaged parts and they refused. When I got the phone back the repair was listed as hinge replacement, not screen.

My advice:

  1. screenshot every step in the process. My phone was approved for free repair, then denied due to the phone not powering on, then I was told there was screen damage, and finally hinge.

  2. Request pictures of your damage and get support to say specifically what the damage is.

  3. Request your damaged parts back.

My Flip 4 just broke for the... 4th time. I'm replacing it again, but also looking to move on, please help.

So, I have a very particular phone wishlist, and I know the exact phone I want does not exist and probably never will again.

My favorite phones I’ve ever owned were:

  • HTC G2 Slide, which is what my memory insists on calling it. I think it was officially the T-Mobile G2 / HTC Vision? Uncontested. Pound for pound the best phone I have ever owned for me. It’s okay if you disagree.

  • Galaxy S5. Full breakable screen, sure, but the textured back meant my essential tremor didn’t make me constantly feel like I was going to drop it.

  • Moto X. Ridiculous little phone, but I loved the size and the complete lack of fuss.

  • BlackBerry Curve, or whichever one had the trackball around 2008.

My point is that I’ve loved a lot of different phones over the years, in different sizes and with different hardware.

I used to care a lot more about staying on top of smartphone technology. One of the reasons I didn’t want an iPhone in the beginning was how often I saw people breaking the screens. For years, despite owning smartphones, I somehow avoided that problem.

Then I moved on from the S5 and suddenly I could not stop eventually breaking phones. Not immediately, and not because I was throwing them across rooms, but sooner or later something would happen and there went the glass, either front or back. The Moto X was my reprieve on that front, although I vaguely remember it developing some other bizarre problem instead.

Then Samsung announced the Flip... I was SO happy. All I wanted was a phone where I could physically protect or shut away the screen when I wasn’t using it. I patiently waited several generations for the hinge problems to calm down, then finally bought the Flip4.

I love this stupid phone and am apparently stuck with it. I won't upgrade because Samsung finally made a phone that protected its giant touchscreen without requiring an enormous shell case, then immediately decided the logical next step was to turn the entire outside of the phone into... another screen.

So I keep using Flip4s. I am currently on Flip4 number four. This one has lasted the longest at just over a year. Every previous failure except one has involved the hinge. The exception was a freak drop where it landed perfectly on a protruding rock and smashed the screen despite having a case.

This time it is still hinge-related, but I may actually get to keep THIS phone. I think the battery flex cable is failing rather than the hinge itself mechanically breaking. It powers off at the same point when I start closing it, but stays on if it’s plugged in. So maybe somebody can actually repair the cable. We’ll see.

But as I stare down the possibility of Flip4 Number Five: Attack of the Clones, and wonder how much longer T-Mobile is going to keep finding these things to replace mine with, I’ve started thinking seriously about what comes next.

In a perfect world, my dream phone would have:

  • A full touchscreen with an actual protective bezel around it

  • A slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard

  • Android

  • NFC / Google Wallet

  • T-Mobile compatibility

Basically, give me the G2 again with modern radios and tap-to-pay and I will leave the smartphone industry alone for another decade.

I also no longer care very much about camera improvements. I think we've mostly plateaued in that field, despite the number of lenses that keep being added. If a phone can take a nice picture in daylight, I am satisfied.

So what is out there for somebody who wants some combination of the following?

  • Physical keyboard

  • Google Wallet / tap-to-pay

  • Works reliably on T-Mobile

  • Not completely made of glass on the front AND back

  • Either genuinely small or almost comically large

That last one sounds ridiculous, but I’ve realized I apparently want no middle ground. Either give me something I can comfortably use one-handed, or give me enough screen that I can remote into my work computer through Jump Desktop on the train and click on a filename without squinting so hard I give myself a headache.

After falling down this rabbit hole tonight, I have developed several sudden phone crushes:

  1. iKKO MindOne + keyboard

Conceptually, I LOVE this thing. Tiny square phone, modular physical keyboard, headphone jack with an actual DAC, rotating single camera instead of seventeen lenses. Unfortunately, what I’m reading makes it sound like the real-world software experience still has some rough edges.

  1. Unihertz Titan 2 Elite

I want it. This may be the closest thing to a modern BlackBerry I’ve seen. My main hesitation is T-Mobile compatibility and Unihertz’s return policy if I buy it and discover the network situation isn’t good enough.

  1. TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro

Possibly the most tempting practical option right now because I can literally get it through T-Mobile. The ability to switch the display into paper-like or monochrome reading modes sounds fantastic for commuting. It is also just pretty.

  1. Unihertz Tank 4 Pro

Comically overpowered for anything I need in daily life. Enormous battery. Rugged. Night vision. Built-in projector?! I love that it exists. I vaguely remember discovering that it was missing one of my actual requirements, though.

  1. Galaxy Z Flip6 or Flip7 FE

These are the phones where I keep trying to convince myself, “Maybe you’ll get over the bigger exterior screen.” But sometimes I just want to close my phone and have it show me a little picture of my daughter, the time, and maybe that I got a text. I do not need the closed phone to become a second place where every app can yell at me.

I briefly considered book-style foldables because they would genuinely make working on the train easier, but then T-Mobile showed me the price and I screamed, laughed, and cried simultaneously. We are no longer discussing folds.

So... what have I missed?

Old models are absolutely welcome. I am not looking for “best flagship of 2026.” I don’t care if the processor is two generations old as long as the phone is still secure enough to use, runs the apps I need, and isn’t about to lose support immediately.

Thanks if you made it through all of this. Buying a new phone weirdly unnerves me now because, for better or worse, I rely on the thing for an absurd amount of my daily life.

Durable Case for Z-flip 7

Hello, I've been wanting a Z-flip7 for a while now and before getting one I want to get a case that can make this phone last. I do tend to drop my phone from time to time, resualting in me having more bulky phone cases and lots of screen protectors. I know its ironic wanting a phone so fragile but I still want to find a case that can absorb drops well enough and have hinge protection. A lot of cases I find have mixed reviews, but I mainly want to post here to see if theres a brand (or a few) that have reliable case protection for the flip 7. Also should I be looking into dist protection or should I just clean my case often?

Is it silly to do this switch?

Okay so I've been obsessing over the flips for so long now and I've always used android. I'm currently using an A54 and it's litteraly on the verge of breaking 😭 But people say my phone is better than a flip, which is annoying bc I want a flip...

Should I get a flip? I think it would probably be a 5 or 6 because my parents may not be able to afford 7 or 8 but I've seen all of these breakages and now I'm scared, I kind of torture my other phones but I'll be gentle with this one

Also one last question, should I get a case with or without hinge protection?

Thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing what you think.

I’m joining the ZFlip gang today!

The last Samsung phone I used was a Galaxy S8, and I throughly enjoyed it! After that, I switched to IPhone 11 and 14 plus. Today, I’m switching back to Samsung via the Galaxy ZFlip 3 5G! I know it’s an older model, but does anyone have any tips to make the most out of it?

Two weeks with the flip8

I've been with iPhone since 2012 and I switched two weeks ago to the flip 8, coming from an iPhone 15 pro max here are my thoughts.

Absolutely no regrets, im in love with this phone, with the android system and the camera. I've had no issues texting my iPhone friends and I videochat using WhatsApp or fb messenger for those that wish to see my face lol.

Battery life is amazing, so far haven't had any issues, im on my phone pretty much all day and even when sharing my Hotspot with my daughter's tablet on the go, playing music in the car and using Google maps at the same time, my battery stays strong!

I've gotten many compliments from my iPhone friends about the camera quality being really good but I also changed some settings to make it better/ I get really good lighting in my apartment.

I've always been techy so going from the simple iPhone system to android has been a breath of fresh air, I love how the possibilities are endless with what you can do with the phone, I don't think I'll ever go back to apple honestly.

I've very pleased, so happy I made the switch finally after contemplating on the flip7 since last year. :)

Joining the flip side - Z flip 7

Been using iphone 15 pro. Decided to give flip phone a try.

I've been swapping back and forth between iphone and Android, OS wise usually just need muscle memory adjustment.

Also this is probably the first time I actually like to put case to my phone. The flip 7 is so thin to the point it feels lacking to hold.

Putting pitaka case gave it enough thickness for my grip.

Overall loving the form factor quite a lot!

Need help

Hello everybody, I have a few questions.

I got my flip 8 yesterday and I was very excited to try it out. I was an iPhone user for forever and this is me dipping my toe to switch. Let me preface with I work in construction. This morning on my way to my job I had my phone plugged in for android and my GPS on and my phone kept turning off and wouldn't let me turn it back on. I had to hard reset it and it came on but it turned off 2 more times and ended up turning itself back on the last time and I've been fine the rest of the day. The other thing is my fiancee has an iPhone and when we text, our phones go back and forth between rcs texts and sms texts and we thought we checked all the settings but nothings working. Please help!
