I created 2,000+ hand-drawn 2D game assets, completely free under CC0

In '23/'24 I spent about a year creating hundreds of hand-drawn assets for a game-building product that never really found its feet.

Rather than let all that work disappear, I turned it into Kitbitz: 2,000+ illustrations across 13 themed kits, all completely free under CC0.

The assets were originally made for building little worlds, so everything is designed to mix and match. There are kits for nature, medieval, dungeons, pirates, cities, space, cyberpunk and a bunch more.

Everything is available as SVG + PNG, and there are full Figma kits built with reusable components, color variables and smart pinning so assets resize nicely.

I’m also building a terrain builder that can generate landscapes in the same style, so you can create a base world and then build on top of it with the assets.

No attribution, no signup, commercial use is fine. Take whatever you want and make something cool with it.

I built a new fast and portable texture atlas builder with a LibGDX exporter

Hey everyone, I was building this tool for my internal use, and thought I would spin it off as a full tool and sell it in case it was useful for anyone else. I wanted something extremely fast and with good CLI integration, and something very portable as well. So that's what I built, in Zig with a Dear ImGui interface.

I am mostly focusing on code-first environments right now, like LibGDX. This is the exporter I use for my own projects in Haxe/Heaps.io, as it uses the LibGDX format.

Anyway, thanks for checking it out. Let me know what you think.

3x5 Microfont: A Highly Legible 3x5 Pixel Font With Full ASCII Support (CC0)

So I know there are many, many of these. I also know that many of the characters are the same as other 3x5 fonts (sort of by necessity). But anyway...

I spent a stupid amount of time trying to make the best possible 3x5 pixel font for general use, and I wanted to share it with you all! Hopefully you like it enough to use it!

Features

  • It's a true 3x5 font.
    • There are no descenders or ascenders that go outside the 3x5 footprint.
    • This makes it suitable for use in sprite sheets that have each sprite take up only 3x5 pixels total.
    • It also means lines of text can be drawn closer together!
  • The baselines and midlines of all characters (mostly) match, which drastically improves legibility.
    • This took a LOT of trial and error. I'm still open to feedback.
  • An effort was made to unify the style of all characters, whenever possible.
    • A lot of 3x5 fonts, while often legible, sadly look like a jumbled box of letters from different typefaces. I wanted to make this look like a cohesive font, which actually improved legibility a surprising amount.
  • It supports all 94 printable ASCII characters!
  • It comes in 4 different sprite sheet formats, in addition to proportional and monospaced font files in 3 different formats each!

Demo

My GitHub Pages directory uses this font!

I made a small hand-painted dark fantasy icon pack — 15 icons are free

Hey everyone!

A while ago I started Forgotten Wilds, a portfolio project focused on hand-painted inventory icons, object design and worldbuilding for games.

I wanted the assets to feel like they belonged to a strange, hostile world, so I built them around a few simple rules: weapons are made from creature parts, food should look disgusting, every object should tell a little story, and the item descriptions are written as the journal of someone who doesn't belong in this world.

I put together a free Starter Pack with 15 icons as a small introduction to the world. It includes transparent PNGs in multiple resolutions and the accompanying item descriptions.

Free download: https://hamadiss.itch.io/forgotten-wilds-starter-pack

Hope some of them are useful for your projects!

Feedback is always welcome.

I made 75 chiptune tracks free for anyone's game — no attribution, and they can't be Content ID claimed

I've spent about nine months of evenings building a chiptune program, and it's written a hundred tracks. Seventy-five of them are free for anyone to use, and I'd rather they ended up in someone's game than sat on my drive.

The licence first, because it's the only part that decides whether this is any use to you: use them in anything, including commercial releases. Modify them however you like. Credit appreciated, not required. And they can't be registered with a content-ID system or a performing-rights society — so nobody can claim them on your trailer, your devlog or a stream of your game, and that includes me. The one restriction is you can't resell them as music.

https://renatachiptune.itch.io/the-hundred

What they sound like: YM2149 — the Atari ST chip — so three voices and a noise channel, bright and hard rather than the C64's fatter sound. About four and a half hours across the 75. You get MP3s, and the raw .ym chip files if you'd rather run them through an emulator. The track list gives key, BPM, mood and length for each one, so you're not auditioning all 75 to find something that fits.

Where they came from, plainly: the program composed them. No generative AI — there's no neural network in it and nothing trained to imitate a composer. It's rule-based: statistical tables fitted on public archives of real chiptunes, plus music theory. Closer to how a roguelike lays out a level than to Suno.

Not selling anything and there's nothing to sign up to. If it's useful, take it — I'll be in the thread if you've got licence questions.

36 free seamless space backgrounds — the parallax layers are real depth slices of a 3D volume, not separate images

All free, no attribution required, commercial use fine. License file is in every pack.

What's actually different: most parallax background packs (including my own first two) fake the depth — three separate 2D images scrolled at different speeds. They share no geometry, so nothing ever occludes anything correctly.

The Volumetric pack instead raymarches a camera through an actual 3D gas volume and cuts the result into depth slabs. Each layer you get is a genuine slice of one volume, so near dust really does sit in front of far gas and the parallax is geometrically correct with no tuning. 1920x1080, PNG with straight alpha, seamless horizontal tiling.

Colour is computed rather than picked: star colour comes from Planck's blackbody law at real stellar temperatures, the gas glows in the actual nebular emission lines (H-alpha, O-III, S-II), and dust follows Beer-Lambert extinction. Three treatments per pack — true colour, Hubble SHO narrowband, and HOO.

There's also a browser version where you can generate your own and save a PNG, if none of the presets fit: https://nebulakit.itch.io/nebula-forge

Not generative AI — no image model involved anywhere. It's a procedural raymarcher: deterministic maths, reproducible from a seed, and the seed ships with each render.

Happy to add resolutions or colour treatments if something's missing — tell me what you'd actually use.

Roadside Tales Free - Modular Bridge [Godot,Unity,Blend]

Hi everyone!

One of the most downloaded packs from my Roadside Tales series on the Unity Asset Store just made the jump to itch.io — and this release brings something extra: a native Godot project. Roadside Tales Free: Modular Bridge is here as a “name your own price” download, so grab it for free or toss in a coffee if you feel like it.

Roadside Tales Free - Modular Bridge [Godot,Unity,Blend] by EmaceArt

This is already my fifth pack rebuilt as a proper Godot project. If you work in Godot, that means scenes ready to drop straight into your world — no reimport gymnastics, no broken materials. Building in Unity? That version is in the box. Want to shape the source yourself? The raw .blend files are included as well.
