lgbtqnation.comFriendship
Hey all, 42 yr old gay male from Ireland 🇮🇪 that moved to Saskatoon Canada 🇨🇦 17 months ago with my husband. We are the straightest gays you would ever meet.
Absolutely love it here, I have a great job and am confident, friendly (might not look it) but chat to me and you see the person I am.
I find it very hard here to make friends, not sure if it because of my age and everyone already have there friend groups.
I like a pint now and again but don’t like to be out drinking constantly.
I enjoy my work and work hard, love my dogs, walks and meeting people. I know a lot of people to see and say hi but that is as far as it goes.
To make a friend friend is very hard. Anyone have any ideas?

Gay Maine/NB in the 1980s
I have read the rules and believe this is ok, but please delete if questions from straight people are not welcome.
I am writing a book that takes place in Maine/New Brunswick in 1986. Two of my characters are closeted gay men (~ 17 and ~ 30) and I'm hoping to understand their experience better so that I can represent them well in the book. I'm eager for anyone who was gay in that area in the 80s to answer some questions, or just comment about their experience in general.
- Where/how did you first become aware of gay culture and gay spaces?
- What music/books/movies/media were impactful for you?
- For a closeted young man in a very rural place, were there places to travel to that would have felt freeing? For example, would he have gone into Bangor for parties or clubs? What was that scene like?
- If you remember when Charlie Howard was murdered, how did you learn about that crime? Did it impact the scene in Bangor? Beyond Bangor?
34M looking for chill dudes to chat with about life or whatever.
Grew up going to a conservative church. Down to chat with whoever about my experiences then and now. If you are Christian and want to discuss life with another Christian dude hit me up! Also open to non-Christian folks :)
Queer Urbaner Moved to Appalachia
Hi there,
Please feel free to delete this if not allowed! I had a small urban farm in Akron Ohio where I had a greenhouse, quail coops, and vegetables. I have since separated from my ex and moved to mountain Maryland. I LOVE it here but have seen quail is different to own here and with me in city limits I’m not supposed to have poultry. Any ideas on how I can change this?
Also— I have a four bedroom house in Cumberland Maryland and am currently trying to rent a room to someone if they’d like to come to the area too!
I’m a social worker (my specialty is crisis work but I’m currently a case manager). I work hybrid where I’m either in my attic bedroom with my dogs or out in the community. I have three small dogs and three cats, my pets are not anyone else’s responsibility but mine but they’re social and you’re more than welcome to interact with them. I’m not against a roommate having a pet but you need to have your pet up to date on vet care as my pets are essentially my children.
Shared spaces are my kitchen, dining room, bathroom, porch, backyard, and basement. I pay all utilities and am willing to work with budgets :) mountain Maryland has been such a gift to me and if anyone needs a room and wants to leave a red state you’re welcome to dm me.
