New to Georgetown

Before you scream we're full - I'm not looking to turn Georgetown into Austin, NYC, Cali or North Jersey (where we are being transferred from)

My wife is being transferred to Georgetown, and I am being tasked with finding a house. Kids are grown and flown (but would like a spare bedroom or 2) - any particular area I should start my search? Anything to stay away from? We're in our late 40s; and would like a chill place to call home for 2 or so years

My husband is missing.

UPDATE: We know he was wearing Camo pants, grey zip up hoodie, white shirt, brown playboy hat, purple self edge tote bag, green nike recycle running shoes,

My husband, Conner, has been missing for 48 hours and we have officially filed a missing person report with Austin Police. I’m posting here because I’m trying every possible avenue in case someone has seen him recently.

The last time I physically saw him was on 5/14/26 at 7AM. His last text was at 9:56AM Since then, he has completely stopped responding to calls, texts, and emails, which is extremely unlike him. He also no-call/no-showed work, which is very out of character. His stuff is all here.

We have contacted friends, family, coworkers, and anyone we know he may communicate with, but no one has heard from him.

Places I’ve checked include:
• AMC movie theaters
• Public libraries
• Bus stops around Austin
• Bluefin Sushi
• Planet K on south congress
• All the gas stations on South Lamar
• His job
• Hospitals and jail

30 / white male/ 5’9 / 140-150 / hair color: blonde but his beard is ginger / he could possibly have a small traders tote with him / no visible tattoos the ones he has can be hidden with a tshirt / on foot no car.

If anyone has seen him recently or has any information at all, please message me directly or contact Austin Police referencing the missing person report.

Please share if you can. Thank you.

EDIT: Flyer has the wrong year. Due to high stress moments we missed that, not able to delete and repost image. He was last seen May 14th 2026.

New homeowner looking for lawn mowing recommendations

Just moved into our first house in Georgetown and the yard is already more work than we expected. Looking for somebody local for basic mowing for a little while until we get more settled in.

Launching a “Screen-Free” physical adventure for kids on Monday. I think I am 90% there, what am I missing?

Hello fellows!

I'm a Product Manager by day, and next week I'm officially flipping the switch on Paper Portals, a 6-week physical mail adventure designed to get kids (ages 6–10) off their iPads and back into "dossiers and clues." This is kind of a pilot for summer vacation before I proceed with the full plan!

The Stack:
• Frontend: Carrd (Pro)
• Backend: Stripe (Collecting custom metadata for "Cadet Names")
• Fulfillment: Manual physical shipping of curated missions.

The Logistics:
I've wired a 100% no-code flow where parents enroll their kids, provide a "Cadet Name," and receive a physical envelope every week starting June 1st for 6 weeks.

Why I need your eyes:
This is my first launch and I am doing solo so I am not yet aware of my blind spots. Before I start my marketing push tomorrow, I'd love feedback on:

  1. Friction: Does the transition from the
"adventure story" to the Stripe checkout feel trustworthy? Is the content good sales pitch to parents?

  2. Clarity: Is the $30 one-time fee for a 6-week physical service clear enough?

  3. The FAQ: I've embedded a custom HTML/ CSS accordion-does it hold up on your mobile device?

  4. Do you see anyother issues?

Link: https://paperportals.fun

Thanks for the "pre-flight" help!

Jobs for someone in need?

Hello! I am helping out a woman who is currently jobless/homeless. The issue is that she does not have a current ID - she is working to get one, and finally got a SS card. What are her options for work, if any? She has housing options in the South Fork Wolf Ranch area (I live right next to the shopping center, and I’m letting her stay with me a few nights a week), or at I-35 and Leander. She does not have transportation. She’s otherwise able-bodied, very kind and motivated. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Job help

My family is moving to Georgetown in July. My husband is getting out of the military, so we’re moving back to his home state. I’m pretty desperate to have a job lined up so our income doesn’t stop. It is also required to have an offer letter to get approved for a rental home. We’re out of state, so it makes things harder and interviews will need to be done virtually. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have tons of customer service, serving experience, and health/ fitness experience. Thank you!

City of Georgetown pursues 30-year water agreement to meet future demand

Water availability is one of the biggest concerns about the city that we hear from Georgetown residents. If you're not a subscriber to the paper, here are some basic takeaways from the article. Let us know if you have any questions and I'll see if we can ask the city some follow ups to provide answers in the coming weeks:

• Georgetown City Council approved a term sheet for a Water Supply Agreement with Recharge Water LP to provide the city with a long-term groundwater supply starting in 2030.

• Through the agreement, the city will get 34,800 acre-feet of water per year for up to 30 years from the Carizo-Wilcox Aquifer.

• The cost of the water reservation fees will be kept confidential until the agreement is finalized later this year. The paper will report those terms once they're available through public records.

• This agreement will not decrease water rates, but should help make rate increases more predictable and manageable over time, according to the city.

Wolf Ranch Elementary

Hi everyone. My son is autistic and will be starting kindergarten soon at the school we are currently zoned for. I’m really nervous about the transition and would love to hear real experiences from other parents, especially parents of autistic or special needs children.

How has your experience been with the school’s SPED program, teachers, communication, inclusion, safety, and overall support? Did your child feel understood and cared for?

If you had a negative experience, I’d appreciate hearing that too. And if there are other elementary schools in the area that you strongly recommend looking into instead, I would really appreciate those recommendations as well.

This is all very new and overwhelming for me, and I just want to make the best decision possible for my son. Thank you so much!!

Undercover LE on the Square

Does anyone know what was going on at the courthouse this morning? Looked like maybe a funeral, everyone in suits coming out around 12:30pm with programs. What struck me odd was a large presence of undercover law enforcement. The guy in the suit had an ear piece and at times was talking into his lapel. The guy in checkered shirt also has ear piece and was packing. Also observed a guy in camo putting away what seemed to be a big ol rifle into a storage case parked by Juliet’s Kitchen. Anyways, my nosiness is peaked.

We've named her Opal

She's a barred screech owl and i only assume she is the same one we've had in the owl house the past few years. She always pokes her head out if we're out in the back yard near dusk or if I'm mowing. I expect there will be fledgelings soon.

Thank you to a commenter for correcting the species!

Looking for a hair stylist to help me transition to my natural graying color that isn’t super expensive.

Pretty much the title. I’m ready to grow out my graying natural color but I’ve only come across one stylist saying they could help and she quoted the first visit at $640. I’m willing to drive to surrounding areas, including Austin if there is someone that’s really good at these transitions. Thanks!

Georgetown Hiking Club: Updates and new GroupMe group... maybe.

Hello everyone. I am posting to see who would be interested in me setting up a GroupMe group for us to talk, plan, and have a single place to check for last-minute updates or cancellations.

I am also interested in seeing if anyone else is available to help lead some of the hikes, post online, or help in other ways.

I have been busy with life and stuff lately, but I have met a few of you out in the wild and have been asked if we are getting the group back together, so I wanted to post on here and see who is interested.

Post your thoughts and questions below.
