thoughts on marie's new release "blue"?
her new single dropped two hours ago. ive been a fan since iicmigq released and absolutely love the album to this day, but man the new stuff has been a disappointment for me. the new album and following singles and her general style as a person shifted and gives me this weird artificial wannabe celebrity energy and "blue" isn't much different. it has a bit more personality i'll give it that, the text feels little more like SHE actually wrote it compared her other new stuff, but still doesn't have that old Marie "straight from the heart" feeling, it still feels overly polished and inauthentic, even the mix and muddy vocals feel off (speaking as a musician myself). kinda underwhelming given the hype and her socials renaming shenanigans, what do yall think?
