Hi everyone,
A group of us is planning to visit North Goa around 9–10 July. We’ve already checked IMD, Apple Weather, Google Weather, AccuWeather, etc., but they’re all showing different forecasts, so we’re a bit confused.
We’re not looking for an exact weather prediction
we know forecasts change quickly during the monsoon.
We’d love to hear from locals or anyone who’s been there recently:
Is it raining all day, or are there dry breaks?
Are beaches, cafés, and sightseeing still enjoyable?
Would you recommend visiting, or should we postpone?

I am listing down where they actually are.

Not the official "26 locations" nonsense the govt announced. I cross-referenced news reports, RTO circulars, and drove past a few myself last week. These are the confirmed active spots as of now.

NORTH GOA

- Merces main junction

- Mapusa — Tara Bastora, Akoi Village, Duler (3 cameras in one town, brutal)

- Dona Paula near Raj Bhavan

- Patradevi border (GoVA auto-checks your docs)

- Keri border (same, don't cross without valid insurance/PUC)

SOUTH GOA (where most of them are, because of course)

- Verna — Birla Cross, Titan, IFB, Ravi Café (basically the entire Verna stretch is watched)

- Margao — Old Market, Power House Circle, Munj Vihar Circle

- Fatorda

- Nuvem — Tata Showroom, Goa Ceramics, Gorvotti, Bypass (4 cameras, wtf)

- Loutolim — Missing Link

- Navelim, Arlem, Bolshe Circle

- Vasco — VP Chicalim

- Betalbatim, Colva — Green House

- Benaulim — Maria Hall

What actually gets you caught:

Speed, red light jumping, no helmet, no seatbelt, phone in hand, triple riding, wrong side, illegal parking, "dangerous driving" (vague enough to cover anything).

The border thing is new and nasty. Even if nobody waves you down, the camera reads your plate, pulls your VAHAN data, checks registration + insurance + PUC. Invalid = challan lands in your SMS. No human interaction needed.

If you get caught:

SMS comes from VAHAN only. Pay at echallan.parivahan.gov.in

I've been driving Goa for years. These cameras don't mess around. The Verna stretch alone will fund the state's budget if everyone keeps doing 80 in a 50 zone. And the Nuvem cluster? That's just mean.

If you're visiting Goa in July/August, save this. Share it with whoever's renting you a scooter. Most rental guys won't tell you because they don't care — the challan hits owners phone, not theirs.

Note: Yes the title says 26, list has 31. Govt counted "corridors," I counted junctions. Some are 200m apart and grouped officially. All 31 are real though.

I and my friends are planning a 4 days trip to goa. And it is the first visit to Goa. we are actually looking for the place that is safe to stay for girls has good beaches and also places to explore. If there is any hidden gem as well.

Our tentative plan:

-Duration: 3 nights, 4 day

Thinking of spending 2/3 nights in South Goa and 1 night in North Goa.

Budget:

-Strictly under ₹8,000 per person, including travel, stay, food, and local transport. We'd really prefer not to exceed this.

Accommodation:

-Completely okay with hostels (female dorms are fine).

-Clean, safe, and budget-friendly is more important.

Transport:

-None of us have a driving licence, so renting scooters or bikes isn't an option.

-We would like recommendations for the cheapest and safest way to get around using buses, shared transport, or any other affordable options.

-We're looking for suggestions on:

•Affordable hostels in South and North Goa.
