My mate and I made a card game, and 24 hours after launching we’re 69% funded!
Hey everyone!
My mate Ryan and I have spent the last few years designing a card game called Primordials, and yesterday we finally took the terrifying step of putting it out into the world.
We launched our first crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound and, as I’m writing this, we’ve already hit 69% of our funding goal!
Primordials is a fast-paced, take-that set collection card game for 2–6 players, with games taking around 20–30 minutes.
The goal is simple:
Collect one of each of the 8 Primordials or collect 5 of the same type.
Of course, everyone else is trying to do exactly the same thing, and they're probably going to mess with you along the way.
There’s stealing, swapping, blocking, destroying, temporary alliances and usually a point where everyone at the table collectively decides that one person needs to be stopped.
We designed Primordials to be really easy to teach and quick to get to the table, but with enough interaction that you're always paying attention to what everyone else is doing rather than just waiting for your next turn.
This has been a massive passion project for us, so seeing people we've never met actually backing something we created has been pretty surreal.
We're currently at 69%, so we're not there yet.
If Primordials sounds like something your gaming group would enjoy, we'd love for you to check out the campaign. Even just following it or sharing it with someone who might enjoy it helps us get closer to actually making this thing!
And because this is our first crowdfunding campaign, I'm more than happy to answer any questions about the game, the design process, manufacturing, artwork or what we've learned trying to bring our first game to life.
Hopefully the next update I get to write is:
“Holy shit, thanks for helping us get to 100%.”
