Keke Palmer is CRAZY

literally 4 minutes in and busting out laughing. How is she allowed to be SO genuinely likeable. OMG. She is actually a crazy concept of a human - THAT BEAUTIFUL TOO? It's unfair.

Rant over.

Amy's effort and intelligence show

I'm generally not a podcast person; I get aggravated waiting for it to be my turn to talk. I always watch the video version like it's a talk show.

I think a critical element of why I enjoy Good Hang but not other podcasts is because even though the tone is so light, Amy is clearly taking it seriously. She's well prepared and well read. In a way the show feels like it's filling the void left of shows like (pre finding out he was awful) Charlie Rose. It's a very informed compassion.

rosie odonnell was SO GOOD

ep was so funny and touching, I was laughing the whole time.

I’m a 90s baby old enough to know who Rosie is from her talk show, but was unfamiliar with her game as a whole. Fucking hilariousssss.

And also so thoughtful. and real.

she gained a new millennial fan/follower!

Nostalgic for Early Good Hang

When Good Hang first launched, it quickly became a regular part of my weekly listening. Amy Poehler is an absolute icon, and those early episodes really felt effortless, grounded, and genuinely authentic.

Lately, though, it feels like the direction of the show has shifted away from that organic core. It’s starting to resemble the standard celebrity press junket circuit that so many podcasts eventually turn into.

Instead of those spontaneous, insightful moments, there’s a lot of relentless, top-level praise. Every guest's current project is treated as revolutionary and every conversation is kept strictly safe and promotional. Combined with a much heavier commercial presence, that original intimacy gets lost.

I don't say this to trash the show or Amy. Her talent and baseline warmth is still there. It’s more of a quiet disappointment because of how much potential the initial concept had. It was nice to have a celebrity spearhead a grounded refuge from the typical Hollywood PR machine rather than becoming another gear in it.

Have others here have noticed a similar shift?

June Diane Rapheal

She was on the legally blonde series which I didn’t love but I love June. The talk nicely behind someone’s back should be her husband Paul Scheer. Paul and Jason would be fun. But I would love to be the one to talk nicely behind junes back.

Top 3

If you were to recommend Good Hang to a newbie, what three episodes would you use to introduce them? For me, it’s:

  1. Carol Burnett
  2. June Squibb
  3. Rosie O’Donnell

Intro observation

Ok this is a silly observation, but it throws me every time. So Amy starts by talking about what was discussed during the good hang with her official guest. Then, it cuts to her saying hello to the zoom guest. But that zoom guest convo happens before the actual guest, right? So it’s set up like this:

Amy does her intro about the official guest and what was discussed (so episode was already recorded)

Amy says “hi so and so” over zoom (this happens BEFORE recording, at least I would think so, because Amy needs her question from them)

Start episode

Idk why, that sequence just throws me off 😆 I don’t care at all, I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this?

Sabrina Carptner

I know she has nothing new to promote. But she would be such a fun hang on the podcast. Sabrina is so fun. She’s so funny like that is the popstar I want on the podcast so badly.

Live show questions!

Just got a last minute ticket to the live show in NYC tonight (SO EXCITED!). For anyone who's been to one of the prior live shows, about how long was the show in total? Also did they make you put your phones in those locked pouches or were you able to snap a picture?

Tom Holland Scene Discussion

For those of you who listened to his episode and saw Spiderman Brand New Day, what scene with him and Zendaya do you think he was talking about? I dont think it was the one on the rooftop where he gets faked out because that's just plot, but I also dont think it's the scene where he sees she found the letter.

Anyone else have any ideas?
