Xbox and Potentially Steam Controller Holy Grail Profile

I have nearly perfected the Xbox controller support for Ground Branch. I also believe I know how to get it working with the Steam controller. The only major remaining bug is the Secondary Weapon switching bug, and it has been reported to the devs. You can unbind that one if you'd like to use a different binding for switching to secondary, or simply wait until it is fixed.

If you're using a Steam controller, in the steam controller settings, set it to function as an xbox controller, but with no community layout. Then, copy my Input.ini text into your Input.ini and save it, then start up the game. If you're using an xbox controller, it should be as simple as copying my Input.ini text into yours and saving it. Just make sure you have steam controller settings disabled.

The binding list is here, but rather than taking 15 minutes to copy individual bindings, copying the Input.ini file will get you the same results (the sensitivity settings are worth checking out though):

The real star of the show is the Input.ini. Save a copy of yours before proceeding if you want to be able to revert to what you had. Where to find it and how to copy mine is here:

Please try it out, and let me know if it works for you and any tweaks that you think may work better. The secondary weapon bug hits every time you attempt to lower your stance (B + Dpad Down) - it causes you to pull out your secondary - and there's no way around it other than rebinding for now.

If you're curious about the Secondary Weapon bug, here's my understanding of the likely cause:

This profile solves:
Start button not opening pause menu
Tablet binding not working (Y + Dpad Left)
Drop Item binding not working (Y + Dpad Down)
Raise/Lower Weapon not working (B + Dpad Right/Left)
Increase/Decrease Scope Zoom (LT + Dpad Up/Down)
Lean (LT + Left Stick/Right Stick Click)
Freelook (Right Bumper)
...and much more!

Happy gaming!

1.0 didn't stick. What's next?

I'm not sure exactly what was expected of what I can only call a premature 1.0 launch... I get it- we all have needs but now we're ALL right back to where we started.

If this was one last "Hail Mary" before the game hits the shelf can someone just be honest with the player base about it? Would be nice if someone talked to us like a valued customer whose money you already have. I bought my 3 copies so I've pulled my weight...

There are some cool features here- the weapon / kit customizations are probably the most authentic available for a game in this genre- evident since screenshots of stock setups and a few mods are all that you can find in the sub. Training ground? Always been a fan. No concerns there.

There's no doubt that there is some talent in play on the dev team- To keep clawing at the ceiling hoping for something to break open takes some balls.

There MUST be another outlet for it? Another game to merge with? A little "out with the old, in with the new?"

99% of us- me included- can have a vision with no ability or grit (or both) to execute... for any number of reasons. There's no shame in it- as someone fearsomely handsome and equally stupid once said: "Just try and do a little better each time."

But it's hard to get ahead when you leave yourselves behind.

So... what's next? Decisive plans for GB or are there bigger fries to fish?

What happened to the first example campaign mission?

The first iteration of the campaign mission had:

Open sandbox gameplay with multiple routes to objectives.
Numerous objectives.
Very basic mission progression but demonstrated the Ghost Recon gameplay that players have waited almost a decade to see.
Played into the strengths of Ground Branch's snail pace development; just an open map, a few scattered objectives, players come up with the fun, a nice little clip playing at the end for victory.

In 1.0 we got:

Two short missions.
They feel like an attempt at a Call of Duty cinematic single player mission but with no budget.
Less replay value, each mission usually plays out the same way.
On-rails gameplay, unlike the sandbox experience of Silent Reach, you move to point A, go to point B, mission ends, really shallow gameplay.
The expanded story and voiceover add immersion but the gameplay doesn't backup the spectacle.

What I'm getting at is how did the devs go from demonstrating Silent Reach over a year ago to what we ended up with in 1.0? It doesn't build on the aspects that were demonstrated to the player base in fact it looks like somebody mistook Ground Branch for Call of Duty.
