Rural dog attacks
I'm a life long endurance cyclist, with several hundreds of thousands of km logged on Strava. Recently disabled, I started to handcycle on low traffic country roads in the U.S. SW. In 60 years of cycling, never a problem with dogs. Yesterday sent to the emergency room by a pitbull attacking from a roadside homeless encampment. Dogs seem much more aggressive towards handcycles due to being at eye level? Local sheriff advice is "don't ride." I've armed myself with bear spray and a 140 dB horn. Please share your experience and any suggestions for defensive measures. Thanks!
