I've never ventured into Dramione fics until now. I've just finished Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in love by isthisselfcare AND The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy by speechwriter and I'm completely obsessed.

Love, love, Loved Disappearances... What an absolutely fantastic story from start to finish.

I'm searching through ao3 based on Draco/Hermione pairings but I would appreciate any recommendations for stories that you know are good! The bar has been set really high with these two fics, so it would be nice to jump into some equally well written stories!

Alright y’all, I’m stuck between two fic ideas and I need the public to bully me into choosing.

Option 1: Gender‑swapped Draco (Draceana Malfoid, which you’ve probably heard of) which fixes some of the biggest issues of the story imho. Like wdym voldy dies because of a wand technicality? It’ll be slow burn and span all 7 years. (The reason I’m gender swapping Draco is because I suck at slash fics, and I don’t enjoy writing them. BUT that doesn’t mean I’m homophobic, it’s just not something I enjoy)

Option 2: Ten years post‑war murder mystery where Head Auror Harry teams up with forensic Daphne Greengrass after someone turns up dead with “NOT OVER YET, POTTER” carved into them, and the case slowly starts becoming more convoluted.

Which one should I cook first?

After more than a decade, I returned to the WW, and I am ready to write a war trilogy (which would be composed of changes to CoS, a different ending of DoM, and totally different HBP and DH). I have an outline.

The fic will be darker than what we have now. I will add and explain the wizarding economy, provide insight into sources of magic and its limitatons, including how self-sacrifice works, etc.

The fic will be specific because I will introduce PoVs of other characters, and I will change Voldemort's motives to leave the readers wondering whether he is actually a hero.

One of the subplots I want and need is a romantic subplot for Draco. I know the community likes Dramione (as do I), but I have this feeling that Ginny would get more depth if she was the one.

My question to you is who do you think would be a better fit for Draco, especially concerning his social circles. To clarify: which girl would Lucius and Narcissa more receptive of. If I recall well, Lucius sort of praised Hermione in CoS.

This is important in order to keep the subplot a subplot, and not add a romantic plot to the fic: the plot is war.

You must also know that my Ginny will be the first Weasley ever to be sorted into Slytherin (to that extent I am changing the series. I think a Slytherin Ginny, who is not dark!Ginny, would be more interesing as a character, and a clear demonstration that not all Slytherins are evil (although she does beat Harry at Quiditch! :-) )

I am new to fanfictions in general and have in fact only read two.

Im currently reading No love for the wicked and IM IN LOVEEE so far!

However, i found myself wanting to read something that gives harry a love interest, but doesnt go too nsfw.

Any reccs that are easy to read, funny but also sad at times, and also with a ship, preferably someone from slytherin?

I would also love something set back in time, like the Marauders era!
