Failed delivery - CS doesn’t seem to care.

We’ve used hellofresh for about 6 years now and rarely have any problems - last weekend, our box with 7 meals went missing due to damage (or so we were told) and after waiting all day just got an email at 6pm saying we aren’t getting jack shit. I contacted CS via chat and talked to two representatives, one of whom i believe was an actual person. Since they couldn’t ship anything else to us, they offered a refund (which is to be expected) free shipping on our next box and nothing else. I’m not someone who complains a lot but I was shocked that they didn’t seem to care of offer any other compensation. Is this normal for hellofresh customer service now? In the past they’ve refunded whole meals just for having an ingredient missing so their lack of concern (and a lack of compensation) was a surprise.

Will box be delivered Memorial Day?

I have a box scheduled for arrival Monday but I see it’s a holiday. will that have any effect on delaying its departure?

Beef albondigas & patatas bravas

10/10 this was really flavorful and delicious. The sauce with the meatballs was so yummy my husband drank all the sauce haha. The salad wasn’t bad just a little too vinegary.

P.s
I watch shows on my phone while I’m cooking so my camera is always blurry oops

They can’t be serious

How is this the same as a full priced meal. Who is picking this as an option???! Just chicken thighs and sauce for dinner! I’m pretty sure at the end of every order you can add meat and it’s usually pretty reasonable, this is ridiculous.

Came back 4 years later to try again

I used HelloFresh for 1-2 years, starting around 2020. I really enjoyed the recipes and the experience, but eventually decided to cancel for a bit because I wasn't always making the meal quickly enough and was being drawn towards grocery shopping and more freedom. I figured I'd come back eventually when I got tired of grocery shopping again.

Fast forward almost 5 years, and I decided to get it back for a bit. The packaging and system still work great, and I was excited about newer selling points that didn't exist last time, like more breakfast and additional protein options. But when my first box came, I was fairly disappointed. I had selected some of my favorite recipes from 2020, and while they were still easy to cook and tasted well enough, it was clear that their philosophy towards their recipes had changed quite a bit. It was very obvious that they had moved to a model of including as few ingredients as possible to lower their costs. I understand that, with current levels of inflation, they are likely trying not to toe the line between keeping costs down for consumers and maintaining a decent margin, but the recipes just don't work as well and feel like they're missing something.

I understand that even in 2020, popular dishes could change slightly from week to week based on availability. Bakk then, you might get the Tuscan Italian dish zucchini and chicken sausage one week, and then with pork sausage the following week, but the main sauce ingredients and the recipe weren't really changing. Now that I've come back, it's clear they're subbing in cheap alternative ingredients. Like seemingly putting cream cheese and tomato paste in every red sauce and no longer including the cubed tomato or tomato puree. I'm sure there are other examples too, but I gave up pretty quickly. It's too bad American food companies always degrade over time in order to cut costs. It's what we see every time a popular small business sells to one of the main food conglomerates.

Hong Kong-ish Style Manwich Pork Chops

I have probably had over 300 delivery service meals across at least 6 companies and at least 10 years. This Dish was one of only 3 dishes ever to be unanimously inedible, and the only to make everyone who tried it feel genuinely ill.

It's like they had all the ingredients right (except that it's missing Shaoxing wine) but the proportions were WAY off. Though I still blame myself partially. I should've known better. 2 tsp of Five Spice Powder for 20oz of pork is absolutely insane, and I should've tasted the ketchup before using it because whatever brand used makes Great Value blush. That's it. That's all you taste.

Now I want to make the real thing out of spite. Because whatever this is, is not HK Rice. It's Manwich over a mouthful of five spice. People like Manwich, I guess. But that's not what I pay Hello Fresh for. Fortunately this is my first complaint through HF and they comped it. But wow.

Curry-roasted half chicken

A ton of food. Not to hard to prep. Tasted great ❤️

Smoky Paprika Shrimp Fideua

I love this one. You probably don’t need all the aioli sauce. You will want to use all the water suggested to get the noodles done.

Paid a premium price for this 😭

Look at these sad purple sweet potatoes. I'm suppose to make a mash with those. Here's a screenshot of dish cause they also didn't give me a recipe card.

Creamy cilantro steak bowls

Excellent! Not sure what ranch streak is but my cut was good. I picked the jalapeño with lime and sugar.

Chicken thighs fat cutting

Anyone else cut most of the white fat bits off? Or do you leave it on... The main reason I normally opt for breast over thighs is the extra time it takes to trim it.

Pork Sausage Rigatoni Rosa

This turned out good. Added an extra clove of garlic and seasoning to the pork. Used heavy cream and finished with pasta water to coat.

Love the easy one!!
