I’m trying to find a small camera for home security, mainly for keeping an eye on my place when I’m not there. I’m not trying to record anyone in private areas or do anything weird, just something discreet for an entryway, living room, or checking on packages/pets.

I keep seeing tiny cameras online, but a lot of them look cheap or have terrible reviews. Battery life, clear video, decent night vision, and reliable motion alerts matter more to me than it being super tiny.

For anyone who uses a small discreet camera at home, what did you go with? Did it actually work well, or was it one of those things that looked better online than in real life?

What is the best detector I can bring with me on trips where I use a hotel or BNB? Or if there’s a link out there?

Open your phone's camera and go to your camera settings and switch it to night vision most phones have a IR filter built into the night vision setting you can test this feature with your tv remote make sure your using your rear facing phone camera and the room is as dark point the remote at your phone's camera and press a button and youll see a light as you press the remote button thay you can see with the naked eye then it can be used to slowly scan the room paying attention to air vents smoke detectors and outlets or another places you may think a camera would be boom alot of cameras use IR light to record at night or in the dark (IR =infrared)

I’ve lived in my home for 3 years now with my husband and child (1.5years old). During my maternity leave, I kept hearing vibration coming from my living room/couch. Every time I searched for it, it would stop.

However, today (like 15 mins ago) was the longest time I’ve heard the vibration go for. It sounded like a phone call but was set on vibrate. I’ve already check my internet carrier to see if there is an extra device connected to the wifi and everything is looking normal. I’ve deep cleaned the living room to look for it. And I was currently in the process of taking my couch cushions out to see if there is anything in there. My little one woke up before I had a chance to get into it.

What else can I do? I want to buy some kind of detector on Amazon but I’m not sure which one I should get.

I will say, the couch I bought was from a store, but it was one of those returned items and was heavily discounted. When we bought it, it was basically brand new but the first owners returned it for whatever reason.

and, all of a sudden, a question popped into my head that’s been bugging me ever since.

In a few days’ time, I’ll be spending a month away from home: two weeks in a hotel and two weeks volunteering at a sort of informal commune.
It had never occurred to me before, but the idea of hidden cameras doesn’t seem entirely absurd to me.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, running iOS 26.5.
Is there any feature I can use to give me some peace of mind?

Last week I was at a wax studio getting a Brazilian wax, full legs and underarms. As I was getting dressed after getting waxed, I noticed a camera above the door pointing at the waxing table. The camera is not hidden and is in full view on the wall. This place is always booked with appts so how has no one ever noticed it? I wanted to ask the owner about it but when I came out, she was in the middle of a conversation with her next client. I don’t understand how it is allowed to have a camera in there. There was no notice to me that there was a camera. It looks like it’s a ring camera. Should I immediately report this or should I talk with owner first. Maybe it isn’t recording but why would it be in there if it isn’t recording?

I’m trying to figure out a way to get rid of these flock cameras infringing on our rights and taking our taxes for stuff we don’t want. Anyone know how much metals are inside those cameras and if u can turn a profit of scrapping them ?

I travel a lot for work. I’m in a hotel probably 20
Nights per month.

Would it be weird or inappropriate to leave a hidden camera in my room just to see what happens when I am not there?

I try to be a good guest; I put all of my personal things away so that when housekeeping does come in, you probably wouldn’t know I was there. All of my things are put in the closet inside my suitcase. I do hang my shirts in the closet so they aren’t as wrinkled.

A few times when I have returned to my room I’ve noticed that some of my things in the closet had been disturbed. I don’t want to make a big deal about it, but would it be inappropriate to place a hidden camera just to see what does happen when I am not there?
