Just got back from a few days exploring Thessaloniki and the surrounding coast, completely fell for Greece

Spent some time recently doing a loose road trip around Thessaloniki and I wasn't fully prepared for how much it would get under my skin
The food alone would have been enough, but then add the people, the pace of life, the weather, and beaches that just kept getting better the further we drove. Thessaloniki itself has this lived-in energy that feels genuinely different from the more tourist-heavy parts of Greece. Less performative, more real. In some of the beach shots you can just make out Mount Athos in the distance across the water, which adds something quietly remarkable to the whole setting
Already thinking about going back and want to see more of the country properly next time. If you've spent time in Greece and have places you'd actually recommend, not just the obvious ones - I'd love to hear them

Travelling to La Palma, Canary Islands to see the stars - advice please!

Hi all! I'm thinking of booking to take my wife and three kids to La Palma this summer to see the stars and do some hiking.

Can anyone recommend the best way of doing some star gazing and any good hikes. Would love to hike to the observatories in the evening and spend a few hours viewing the stars one night. Also the forests to the north look amazing. I've seen there are some star gazing tours available. Are these worth it or is it easy enough to do yourself?

There seem to be a lot of options so I guess hiring a car is a must.

Also, there are a few resorts around the island. Is any of them particularly well placed for access to routes and amenities or is the whole island pretty accessible?

Lastly, it seems only Tui fly from the UK, Thursday to Thursday. Is there any other options for getting there, i.e. flying to Gran Canaria / Tenerife and getting a transfer by boat or plane?

Sorry, lots of questions there but there is both lots of information our there on websites but very few specifics so i'm finding it a little difficult to plan.

Loveholidays family holiday turned in to nightmare

Our family holiday turned into a nightmare after we were denied boarding for our flight to Turkey despite travelling with valid Polish national ID documents, which are accepted for entry to Turkey.

The experience at the airport was humiliating, stressful, and financially damaging. We lost our holiday, incurred additional costs, and were left trying to understand how such a serious mistake could happen.

What shocked me even more was the response from loveholidays afterwards. Instead of showing genuine customer care or attempting to assist in resolving the situation, they quickly distanced themselves from any responsibility, stating they are “only a booking agent” and directing us elsewhere.

When customers book a package holiday, they expect support when something goes seriously wrong — especially when a family is stranded due to what appears to be incorrect handling of valid travel documentation.

I appreciate that airlines make boarding decisions, but the complete lack of meaningful assistance, accountability, or empathy from loveholidays has been deeply disappointing.

We are now pursuing the matter further with the airline, insurance providers, and additional complaint channels while keeping evidence confirming that Polish ID cards are accepted for travel to Turkey.

Based on this experience, I would think very carefully before booking through loveholidays again.

Single person traveller

Can anyone explain this to me please.

Looking at a holiday - how the fuck does this work. I can understand it being slightly more for a single traveler due to it being 1 person to a room, but £1225 extra to go alone.

I'd eat and drink less for starters!

Total cost for one person £5527

Total cost for two people £4302

???

My next question would be 'can I book it for two people and save over £1k and tell them they were in the loo all the time, or even take a disguise for a laugh, left-hand side male, right-hand side female...

Two Ronnie's style.

My family group chat turned into “what do we get mom?” panic mode, so I made a simple page with all the ideas I found while doomscrolling Amazon.

Stuff like heated mugs, silk pillowcases, candle warmers, digital frames, etc.

If anybody wants it I can drop the link.
