What’s a travel mistake you’ll never make again?

I’ll start with mine — I used to always overpack “just in case” items. Every trip I’d end up dragging a half-empty suitcase around, and most of it never got used.

Now I’ve learned to pack way lighter and just buy small things locally if I really need them. It makes traveling so much easier, especially when you’re moving between cities or dealing with stairs, trains, or budget flights.

Curious what mistakes others have made — I feel like travel always teaches you something the hard way at least once.
