Hopesfall - Escape Pod For Intangibles

I've been getting into this band Hopesfall and they reminded me a lot of Hum. It turns out they featured Matt on vocals for one of their songs. Definitely check out this band if you like Hum and melodic metalcore.

I love Hum!

All of these albums have been on repeat for me this month, just discovered them! I love the rawness of E2K, the hooks and emotions of YPAA, the strangeness of DIH, and the hypnotic shoegaze of Inlet. Matt’s voice has got to be one of my favorites in music, how its softness can contrast the beautiful heaviness of the music, but can also be loud and raspy and strained too.

Just wanted to share my love for this new band to me l, I know most people here have probably been listening to them for a long time but they just got a new fan!

I have heard thousands of songs, Isle of the cheetah is one of the best I have ever heard.

that song couldnt have been written by a human, its just too perfect.. maybe i am glazing too hard, but please be patient with me. between the absolute gorgeous chord progressions in the chorus, and the high romanticism and impressionism that Hums lyrics are known for.. no band has ever made me feel like that except Failure with their spectacular songwriting.. Matt Talbott is an absolute poet, and the way he and his bandmates write music with such unconventional melodies and harmonies just proves how special they are. I wish they got bigger and not Deftones, i wont apologize for this statement. thank you for listening to my ranting.

The Summoning Drum Cover

Howdy. I Got a new to me snare recently and wanted to practice this song again. I looked and saw I already posted this a few months ago. It’s pretty neat to see the progress.

Thank you.

nothing/whirr/hum/she's green prints for sale

hi there! my name is Luke Ivanovich (@czukphoto on the gram), I am a photographer from the New Jersey area. You may have seen my work around in the press or from Slide Away or just in the zeitgeist. I've done a lot of work for bands like Nothing, Whirr, Lucid Express, Mx Lonely, Velvet, and many many other incredible shoegaze acts

I recently put together a print shop with some my abstract art pieces, as well as photos of Hum, Nothing, Whirr, Built to Spill, and She's Green. If you feel so inclined to buy something, it would really mean a lot. and if not, that's ok too. lots of love to the r/shoegaze community, thanks for always being cool and for keeping such a wonderful genre alive and well🖤

Digging out my old Earth Day 2000 shirt, when my old band played with Centaur!

I meant to post this on Earth Day, but couldn't find it. Good memories.

Inlet

I think I’ve listened to this album 10 times straight through in the last two days. I can’t stop. It’s perfect. And I say this as someone with a top 10 list comprised almost exclusively of what was once called classic rock but which is rapidly turning into the younger generations’ version of oldies.

At the risk of telling us all we already know, it’s a sci-fi story. A gutting, despairing one. Sadder than anything more cerebral from a band like Failure (whose Wild Type Droid I also class with perfection). But it could also simply be the innerspace navigation of an accomplished but just-embitterment-shy nostalgic psychonaut.

I’ve been knockdown, dragout arguing with the best life-partner I’ve ever had lately, and staring down a mountain of regret having done it, knowing what could so easily slip away, acting so stupidly and so against my better judgment yet. This album makes me love her more.

The Pod cover

Seeing HUM live 2 nights in a row is unforgettable! Playing banger after banger. It's even addicting especially once you start to learn how to play their songs and play them loud!

Vintage Hum Shirt Authenticity

I got both of these shirts on ebay (separately from different people) and i have no clue when they are from/if they are even authentic hum shirts. I have never seen the robot one before and i have never seen the benefits of astral projection one printed on that specific gildan tag. If anyone knows anything about them or has any information (or wants to sell me their hum shirts) please let me know!
