Looking for luxury hybrid or PHEV in subcompact SUV size (~176 inches). Anything coming in spring 2027?
I'm looking for a luxury subcompact SUV — around 175 inches long — with a true hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain. Unless I'm missing something (and please let me know) it seems like there is a gap in market for luxury hybrids at this size.
I like the size and the features of the Volvo XC40, but it's only available as a mild hybrid. The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is the right size, but Subaru doesn't offer its higher tier features with the hybrid. My folks have a Toyota and I don't love it. Everything with a true hybrid or PHEV has the features I'm looking for -- Lexus NX, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 m -- is too big for city street parking.
Has anyone heard of anything coming in spring 2027 in this size class — luxury feel, true hybrid or PHEV, under 177 inches? Feels like there should be something but I can't find it.
I'd rather buy now, but if more options are being released in the Spring, I'd consider waiting. If not, I'm leaning toward the Volvo. I don't put a lot of miles on my car and I liked how it drives.
