I30N struggling to start

Hi all, wondering if anyone would know why my i30N is struggling to start. It doesn't always struggle but quite often will do what happens in the video. It's a 2019 pfl 42.8k miles which has had the recall for the HPFP and ECU update before. Once I started the car while it struggled and apparently a fair bit of fuel shot out of the exhaust so wondering if its the high pressure fuel pump is going or its something else like a leaky injector? Makes no difference with the amount of fuel in the car. I've got the car booked in as its under my 3 months warranty since purchasing from a hyundai dealer, but doubt they'll do anything to it so i want to know what i should be pushing them to look at and replace. Any advise/ suggestions?

Finally did the First 3 Laps at Green Hell

I already did 3 laps 3 years ago in my old 105hp Seat Ibiza but with Sonic the Hatchback (that’s how I named my i30N 😂) it was a whole different fun

Engine light of doom and despair

Ive had my FL i30n about 2 month now and the amber engine MIL came on a few weeks ago since then I’ve took it to the dealership 3 times and Halfords and none of them have been able to identify what’s causing it to come on.

The first time I took it to the dealership they done the HPFP replacement and the ECU software update and cleared the engine light then less than a day later it came back on. The second time they said it may have been the vacuum pump so they replaced it.

After that it didn’t come on for about 2 days so I took it to Halfords I thought maybe a different code reader could identify the cause but nope same thing came back with no codes stored.

It’s been intermittent since and I can’t identify the cause of when it comes on. It’s happened driving in eco, on smooth roads, came on when going over a bad pothole. It’s came on cruising in N mode and also driving harsh in N mode.

I had a ghost fitted a few days ago and they noticed some loose wires and after they secured them the light went off but again came back on a couple days later.

It seems no matter my driving habits it comes on and time between different aswell

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what could be causing it to come on or could point me in the right direction.

Seat lowering options question

Hello! I have a question about seat-lowering options.

I have a tall torso, and in my 2020 pre-facelift i30 N Fastback, I can't get the driver's seat low enough. Even with the seat adjusted as far down as it will go, my seating position is too high, which makes it difficult to see cars behind me properly in the rearview mirror.

I've been looking into ways to lower the seat while keeping the OEM seat, but I haven't found any options for the factory seat with electric lumbar support. Most aftermarket solutions I've come across are fixed-back racing seats, which aren't ideal because I share the car with my much shorter girlfriend and we both need to be able to adjust the seating position.

Has anyone found a good solution for lowering the OEM seat or improving the driving position without switching to a fixed racing seat? Or solutions that are adjustable and are comfy & good for spirited driving

Considering buying a 2026 i30 N as my first new car. Anything I should be aware of?

Hi all, currently in a position to buy my first brand new car and I've decided I want the i30 N. Is there anything I should be aware of? Any pitfalls or common issues to look out for?

I'd be going for the 8spd DCT Auto. While I can drive a manual I'm a bit sick of manually shifting in city traffic. Plus paddle shifters are cool af.

Anyway thanks for your input.

Brake discs and rotors

Looking to change front discs/rotors.

Can anyone say from experience how is DBA 3000series slotted rotors paired with DBA high performance brake pads?

Is it better than EBC Bluestuff + EBC rotors or OEM Hyundai brake set.

I am currently on Yellowstuff pads and OEM rotors.

Thanks

Any other suggestions?

Quality of life additions

First few days of ownership of a man 2022 hatch.

Unfortunately almost entirely rain so far which has fast tracked my annoyance findings for day to day driving.

What are some quality of life changes / additions you've done? What was worth it? what wasnt?

Im thinking:

- Wireless AA - ✅

- Window visors? to stop wet roof dripping in with the window down

- ceramic/hydrophobic coating on the reverse camera

- The road noise at 100+ is acceptable, but it could be better, maybe some sound deadening?

- If i do the sound deadening might as well do the amp and upgrade speakers

Is there some niggle i havent discovered yet thats absolutely worth changing?

RPM Axle Back Exhaust

Hello,

I have a pre facelift i30n and my valve spring has gone so in typical car idiot fashion that means the logical option is to replace the system😂

Been looking at RPM Performance as they seem to be quite prominent for exhaust parts for hyundai and are at a reasonable price. Also got my gpf delete from them and was good quality at a solid price no complaints thus far.

Curious if anybody here has experience with the axle back on any model from RPM and how they perform?

Also wanting to go with the single silencer, actuator, and double wall burned tips. Do you find the lack of full back box makes it too loud?

And do you know if RPM will accommodate the burnt tips as theyre not a direct option however 5" tips do not fit the pfl so 4.5" double wall would be needed instead

Thanks

Any feedback is welcome

Dual zone climate control issue

Hi all, my air con is pretty weak, but does just about push out cold air. It may well need a re-gas but my issue is the passenger side temperature does not match - it doesn’t cool down like the drivers side.

Anyone have any experience of this and what it could be?

I will be getting a re-gas soon but figured if the drivers side side is noticeably cooler than the passenger it might be something else?

Any help greatly appreciated! Thank you

i30 N only makes sound from the right exhaust tip when in N Mode. The left exhaust tip doesn't produce any pops and bangs, and no exhaust gases come out of it during a cold start.

Anyone can tell me if yours do the same? Mine was sounding good from both exhausts but suddenly i came across this problem.

The model is i30 N Performance Facelift 275~280 HP from 2024 (Europe)

Ideen?

button Peeling - 2022 i30N Hatch

Hi fellow Hyundai owners,

I have a 2022 i30N Hatch (based in Australia) and 2 buttons on my centre console have peeling on them. See below for pictures.

https://imgur.com/a/0tEF5QD

Has anyone experienced this before? What are the changes it's a warranty item? Bought second hand so I'm unsure whether the previous owner dropped something on them or it's normal.

Just want to understand before I try and warranty claim with Hyundai.

Thank you.

I30N stumbles and sometimes dies on hot restart

When i drive my i30n it cold starts fine. It hot starts fine after a maximum of 30/40 minutes, but if i wait for 1.5 to 2 hours it starts fine then dies when trying to idle when i press the button again it starts and runs fine after a long crank.

Its a 2018.

If i give it some gas while starting it sounds like it runs on 3 cylinders for like 0.5sec then runs and idles okay.

Its 36c outside and when i tried to check my oil i burned my hand on the dipstick pull ring so heat might be an issue.

Myself im thinking heat soak/vapor lock has anyone else experienced this?

Edit : no mods! No tune

Theft prevention-from Vic Aus

What’s everyone doing for theft prevention? I’m from Victoria where car thefts are increasing I was looking at getting a kill switch but Hyundai has said if anything goes wrong the warranty may be voided but they did say I could get GPS with remote shutoff(helpful after it’s been stolen lol) any suggestions?

2023 i30N owners

Hey guys

Im looking to get an i30n ( Australian )

2026 model is costing around 62K AUD

2023 is 43K with 27, 000 kilometers.

All I want to know from 2023 owners - have you guys had any issues with your cars AND do you plan on selling your cars soon or keep them?

My main concern is reliability. Obviously its a 3 year old car and I dnt know how much its been thrashed by the previous owners but at the same time its like 20K cheaper than a brand new model.

Also - if anyone has 2021-2022 models, please input your opinions too. If I can save more with those models, I may just get the older models with less kms.

Thanks

I30N Sedan (2022)or BMW 330i Msport g20 (2020)

Hey guys,

I'm a 20-year-old male graduating at the end of this year, and I'll be starting work as a registered nurse. I'm looking at buying my first proper car and I'm torn between a 2022 Hyundai i30 N Sedan and a 2020 BMW 330i M Sport (G20).

My budget is around AUD $45k, and there seem to be plenty of clean examples of both with under 50,000 km.

My commute will usually be around 300 km per week, but about once a month it'll probably be closer to 500 km due to longer drives and visiting family.

I won't be doing anything crazy to whichever car I buy. The plan is just to keep it tasteful with:

Lowering springs

Tinted windows

A decent cat-back exhaust (nothing obnoxiously loud)

Maybe some wheels down the track

The car will be my daily, so reliability, fuel economy and running costs are definitely things I'm considering. At the same time, I'd like something that's fun to drive and still feels a bit special.

For those who've owned either (or both), which would you go for and why? Is the 330i worth the extra maintenance costs, or is the i30 N the better overall package for my situation?

Any advice or ownership experiences would be much appreciated.

Cheers!
