I built Mac+ : a lightweight native app that brings your Mac desktop to life (animated wallpapers, folder icons, widgets).

Hey everyone 👋

I'm the solo developer behind Mac+ (macplus.pro). Up front: this is my own app, and I'd really like your honest feedback.

The itch I was scratching: I was tired of staring at the same frozen wallpaper all day. The macOS desktop feels kind of… static. So I built the thing I actually wanted a native, lightweight app that makes the desktop feel alive withoutturning my Mac into a space heater.

What it does:

  • 15 animated scenes rendered on the GPU with Metal (aurora, plasma, waves, rain, snow, fog…)
  • 44 color palettes + a custom palette creator recolor any scene live
  • Use your own video or image as a living background
  • 52 folder-icon patterns stamped onto the real macOS folder shape or import your own image, and apply it to many folders at once
  • 12 desktop widgets (clock, date, focus timer, season, year progress…) you can drag anywhere
  • Little companions that wander across your screen
  • Multi-display, and it now speaks 4 languages (EN / FR / DE / ES)

Why it won't wreck your Mac:

  • 100% GPU rendering (no CPU video decoding), 30 FPS by default, capped resolution
  • Auto-pauses when the screen sleeps or when a fullscreen app covers the desktop
  • Driven entirely from a tiny menu-bar item

Honest about pricing: there's a free tier (a handful of scenes, palettes, icons and widgets) so you can try it for real before paying. Pro unlocks everything 7-day free trial, then €1.99/month, or €9.99 once (lifetime, no subscription).

Here is a promo code : « LAUNCH30 » :)

Enhancing Productivity on Your Mac with a Personal Touch

I'll never forget the day I upgraded to a new Mac. It was love at first sight, but then I realized it was just sitting there staring back at me - a blank canvas waiting for some personality. As someone who's passionate about making the most out of my tech, I knew I had to give it some flair. That's when I started experimenting with different wallpapers, icon sets, and widgets to create a space that reflected my style. But, let's be real, even the best-looking desk can't boost productivity if you're not inspired by what's around you.

Wetter Icons

Hallo zusammen

Wie kann ich einstellen, dass die wöchentlichen Wettersymbole nur tagsüber und nicht nachts angezeigt werden?

I made a dynamic widget that brings a new flower to your Home Screen and Lock Screen every single day!

Hey everyone!

A few months ago, a few friends and I launched Flora, an iOS app born from a simple idea: bringing a little piece of nature to our daily digital life.
The core of the app is its dynamic Home & Lock Screen widgets. Every single morning, the widget automatically updates to reveal a new flower of the day, showing its common name, Latin name, a fun fact, and a short, beautifully written story. Once the day ends, that flower disappears.

We wanted to create something peaceful and non-intrusive, so the app has zero ads, no tracking, and requires no account.

Since the launch, we've been blown away by the community feedback (currently sitting at a 4.9 rating with 1,000+ downloads in three months).
One user recently reviewed it saying it's a "breath of freshness... giving little petals of joy everyday", and another said they'll keep the widget on their lock screen "until the end of time", which absolutely made our day as indie devs :).
We're continuously maintaining it and keeping the botanical library growing. I'd love to hear what you think of the widget design or if there are any specific styles you'd like to see!

Widgy widgets working.

Sometimes I install some Widgy widgets sometimes they don’t work. Is there a way to get them to work? Shortcuts?? Need help. There are a lot of nice widgets that I want to add to my homescreen to make it pop. Thanks in advance.
