I had the battery replaced ( from authorized service center)on my iPhone XR, but after 6–7 months, especially since updating to iOS 18, the phone has started heating up like crazy. Even with normal apps, it gets hot enough to feel like a hot iron.
Has anyone else experienced similar heating issues with an XR on iOS 18? It’s my secondary phone, which I mainly use for CarPlay, but the overheating is honestly becoming a headache.

This is an awesome phone. I really loved it. I bought it when it first came out, but I had to say goodbye to it. Thank you for all the love and memories, iPhone XR, you will be missed. 😔

im a 16yo girl, i have an iphone xr, and ive had it since december of 2021, i got it for christmas, and now? it SUCKS, it has a giant hole in the middle of it (its not giant actually its small) in like may of this year i got so pissed off bc my phone kept lagging like crazy that i took a metal perfume bottle and hit the middle of it, overestimating how strong the glass was, and now i cant use the top half of my screen at all, but now to things that arent caused by me.. every. single. day.. multiple times a day it’ll move on its own, open apps on its own, one time it turned on airplane mode and turned my wifi off, on its own, it will open imessage and call my boyfriend on its own, and it’ll happen at like 6am when hes asleep so he gets woken up by it! its SO annoying. My mom even said i NEED a new phone, but my dad refuses to buy it because he has ”no money” (he spends his money on expensive pre workout and shoes) and idk why my mom cant get it, and i REALLY want a pink iphone 13 so i can have ios 26 because i love the new layout design, uuugh i hate this phone so much, also sometimes when im putting my password in my phone will decide its a great time to act possessed and start putting in my password by itself which ultimately locks me out for 15+ minutes.🫩

edit: i forgot to mention, because i got this when i was 11, obviously i had parental controls.. and both my mom & stepdad had an iphone at the time, now they both have androids and my mom ditched her iphone and forgot to remove the controls, everything was taken off besides my ability to download apps without her permission, ive had to take drastic measures to download instagram on my phone using u3tools, but she cant even remember my screentime passcode because she would change it so much.

I use my XR as my primary work phone. Outlook, Teams, Intune, Authenticator - these are a must in my phone. Also, I use other apps like whatsapp, Google, gmail, and banking, shopping, cab apps.
How much longer will the ios 18 have support for these apps? Because while I feel I should upgrade, I haven’t been able to yet. I don’t want it to be a forced one. So I want to plan and see deals accordingly.

Would updating my iPhone XR from 15.4.7 to 18.7.9 be an absolute crazy decision or would the phone be able to handle it?

I don’t want to ruin my phone as it’s in great condition but I need certain apps for college that require ios17 and up.
