His box is actually impossible to scoop. He gets litter EVERYWHERE because he kicks and kicks and kicks and kicks, even with high sides. I'm losing my goddamn mind.

He's on Prednisone, we're still figuring shit out.

I waste so much litter because of this, the poop just CRUMBLES. It is in a billion pieces in the litter box. It sticks to the sides HORRIBLY when he pees.

My 10yo orange boy was just diagnosed with IBD a few weeks ago. Ive had him since he was 3 months old, and he’s always had intermittent vomiting (sometimes 3x a week, then goes months without it). I had a feeling he had IBD and my vet initially said let’s just watch him since he’s otherwise fine, then this past annual visit said let’s do the ultrasound. He had some thickening of his stomach and bowels, and underwent the biopsy surgery where they took five separate biopsies and confirmed eosinophilic IBD, no lymphoma. He’s also a urinary cat (has a blockage when he was 2.5) and so now is on the RC urinary and hydrolyzed combo dry food, and per vet recommendations we gave up his urinary wet food in place for the RC PR diet. He’s had no vomiting since his surgery and is on week 1 of prednisolone (it’s a compounded treat). So far, he doesn’t eat the treat normally and isn’t a big fan of pill pockets but I went ahead and put some Fortiflora on the pill pockets and break the treat up into two and give him three pill pockets w his dinner (one empty and two w treat) and he eats it typically — today he didn’t eat one of the pill pockets and I attempted to pill him and wasn’t successful, but then I just dunked the pill pockets in Fortiflora and he ate it and forgot the attempted pilling earlier.

I’m a bit nervous about continuing to pill him longterm bc while he’s very food motivated I can see him catching on (and we’re only in week 1). Any success stories of just dietary changes out here? He has never had diarrhea, he sometimes has more constipation/thick stools but again no changes throughout his life. He weighs 15.5lbs, this is his baseline. Eats everything and again the vomiting over years is what made me proceed with diagnostics. Thanks!!

My 8-month-old male Ragdoll has had chronic diarrhea/soft stools and intermittent vomiting since he started eating on his own. He has also had poor weight gain.

So far we have tried:

* Royal Canin Gastrointestinal
* Hill’s Gastrointestinal Biome
* Hill’s z/d
* rabbit + sweet potato diet
* Purina EN Gastrointestinal – currently tolerated best and significantly reduced vomiting
* probiotics, EnteroZoo, fiber and other supportive treatments
* metronidazole (Metrovis) for 2 weeks
* Septrin for 8 days
* fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) – no improvement
* Medrol (methylprednisolone) – some improvement, but he worsened significantly after the dose was reduced

Tests for Giardia, Cryptosporidium and Tritrichomonas were negative. FCoV PCR was positive. Pancreatic tests are currently normal. Previous bloodwork showed eosinophilia. Ultrasound in July was normal, but the latest ultrasound shows mild duodenal thickening, increased intestinal motility and a mildly enlarged/reactive lymph node. The gallbladder wall is also mildly thickened.

He recently had a severe flare with watery diarrhea, repeated vomiting, lethargy and poor appetite. He is currently back on Metrovis and anti-nausea medication.

IBD/chronic inflammatory enteropathy is currently suspected, but we do not have a biopsy confirmation yet.

My main question: has anyone had experience switching from methylprednisolone (Medrol) to another corticosteroid, such as budesonide, in a young cat with suspected IBD? Did budesonide work better or have fewer side effects? Would you recommend discussing this with the vet before considering biopsy?

Any experiences with similar cases would be greatly appreciated. ❤️
