My wife and I have been doing a project were calling 'Avid Field Enthusiasts'. It's a style of IDM that is a bit more introspective and atmospheric.

We do many styles of experimental electronic music, from aggressive jungle and breakcore, to nostalgic sounding electronic lullabies.

But for 'Avid Field Enthusiasts', we are focusing more on introspective, thought provoking melodies and tonalities, finely diced percussion, and maybe a little bit of nostalgia thrown in for good measure.

For this piece, we attempted to mix the sound of old classical/chamber music, with some minor plunderphonics, and some breaks.

Cheers to you from Delco PA!!

Could someone recommend me albums like Immunity by Jon Hopkins?

I usually listen to Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher but I recently found this album which is very good to listen to while working out.

If you know this album could you recommend me similar ones to listen while working out? Thanks in advance

Serious question, but are most of us likely autistic?

I have a clinical aspergers diagnosis and idm blew my mind the moment I first heard it and I never went back. It's sometimes like I'm on drugs when I listen to it, especially in my car if the windows are up and the music sounds better. It feels otherworldly, like it feeds drugs into my brain from my ears and the creative juices start flowing big time. It's when I get my best creative ideas and my synesthesia goes crazy (autists are more likely to have it. I have it, and Aphex has it)

And yet, I never met anyone who is remotely close to loving it. At best, they like the softer idm that is less glitchy and with simplistic percussion, but not enough to want to listen to it again. Everyone hates the harder stuff, like drill and bass, and wouldn't consider the generative and experimental material like post-1998 Autechre as music.

I know about the guy whose autism assessor asked him if he liked idm, and I know that it's a running joke here that we call each other autists, but how much truth do you think there actually is to it?

Are you a diagnosed autist? If not, do you even suspect it? Do you rule it out completely? Just curious.

We need AI labels on Spotify and Apple Music

Since the start of 2026, the music world has changed
AI Music has now made up at least 28% up to 40% of daily uploads onto these platforms, and a decent chunk belongs to people pushing out AI music solely for profit over any form of creativity

With the addition of Spotify "carefully" labeling real musicians who do not use AI Generation, their requirements have left many musicians who don’t use any AI Generation and just below this requirement in the dust.

I feel that two additions to both of these platforms will let users / listeners who use these music platforms daily be able to fully understand in a complete transparent way on WHO they are listening to and WHAT they are listening to.

If there is enough evidence to show that the artist on this platform is AI Generated and not a real-life musician, it should have an "May Contain AI Generation" label on the artist profile itself, similar to how Spotify now has "Verified By Spotify" so the listener understands that the person behind the songs they are listening to with full transparency.
If there is enough evidence to show that the song on this platform is AI Generated, it should be listed next to the artist name on these platforms with "May Contain AI Generation", so if a listener finds the song on a "Mix" or a "Radio" they are listening to, they are able to view that the song could have AI Generation involved with it.
Considering that both of these platforms have allowed AI Generated Music to be put on the platform and have started to implement a crude method to verify musicians who don’t use AI at all, we need to at least have full transparency that the track was either made by a real human or made by an AI or an Hybrid AI/Human track

Any Like A Tim fans?

First heard Like a Tim on the Reflex compilation “Reflexions” and this led me to check his personal releases.

Love his stuff, especially the release I’ve added, “I like it when you don’t like it”. Can hardly find anything online about him and wanted to see if there were many fans kicking about.

Most of his stuff is up on most streaming I’m pretty sure.

Cavalry IDM music video

I recently got into Cavalry, and I'm having a lot of fun with it! There are still a lot of stuff I don't get about the workflow, and some things I wish were different, but I'll probably get used to it.

During some experimentation I ended up with an odd looking loop, and decided to do some sound design for it in Ableton Live, and some strange rhythms emerged!

The animation initially informed the sound design, but then it turned somewhat musical, so I went back and expanded the animation quite a bit, adding sections to it as if it were a piece of music.

Then I went back and forth between Live and Cavalry a few times, and ended up with this strange piece of art. Enjoy!

New track started

In the process of getting my upcoming 12”, As you were ment to go on pressed and released.

Moving into writing new tracks and exploring the connection between Renoise and Ableton Link. I’ve not used Ableton much for anything but live remixes though that might change with this recent exploration.

Thanks for listening
