I don't care if this post get downvotes but here me out, I am writing this with pure frustration and disappointment. I checked last year IIIT A placement stats, which was provided by the institute when RTI was filed, the below one.

In this, the total avg of all branch was mentioned as 33LPA. But individually, the branch-wise avg of IT - 30.83LPA, IT-BI - 32.09LPA and ECE - 27.14LPA. My instant process told me that's not at all possible since the total avg can't be more than highest branh-wise avg, which is of IT - BI.

Now coming to the reason of this discrepancy - I had asked this same doubt in the IIIT A telegram group, and there were few answers to it but none seemed satisfactory. Then one senior told me this

This is very misleading, ppl will seem to think the avg of the institute is very high but not knowing that they use multiple offers of candidate to calculate it. This doesn't look good upon them.

The reason of this post is not to prevent ppl from joining IIIT A or bad PR. This is to know that don't believe the numbers given by any institute blindly. This is also a part of my frustration since I had a plan of joining this clg thinking its placements were genuine, have even supported and defended some comments calling out the inflation of the stats earlier. Now I know that I have been on the wrong side.

Also, I don't know if they remove some low package students while calculating the branch-wise stats. Might be wrong on my side, but this is also one of the possible reason.

Confused between IIIT Allahabad (IT) and BITS Pilani (MnC, might get CS later) — need real seniors' input

Hey everyone,

Got an offer for B.Tech IT at IIIT Allahabad, and I'm also in the mix for BITS Pilani — currently sitting with Maths & Computing (MnC), with a shot at moving into CS in the next round.

I know this comparison probably comes up every year, but I'd genuinely value inputs from people who've actually lived through either campus rather than just going by rankings and Quora answers.

Brand-wise — does the BITS name actually carry more weight in placements/interviews than an IIIT tag, or is it more nuanced than that? And if the branch change doesn't work out and I'm stuck in MnC, does that brand advantage even hold up?

Placements — for IIIT-A IT folks, what's the placement reality been like — average package, kind of companies coming in, how many end up in actual dev/core roles vs service companies? And for BITS MnC (not CS) — anyone here who didn't get the branch change, how did placements turn out?

Hostel life — rooms, food, general upkeep at both. Also curious how Pilani's location (heat, connectivity, being a bit cut off) plays out vs IIIT-A.

Campus culture — BITS is famous for its fests and also its brutal relative grading. How's the pressure level compare to IIIT-A? And just generally — which campus has better day-to-day vibe/life outside academics?

Branch change — for anyone who went through MnC to CS at BITS, how tough was it really? What CGPA range should I be aiming for after first semester to have a decent shot?

Basically trying to figure out: guaranteed CS-adjacent branch at a strong IIIT vs a shot at BITS CS with real risk of being stuck in a less sought-after branch. Any honest experiences, including the not-so-great parts, would help a ton.

I got iiit allahabad IT in mock 1, mock 2, round 1 and round 2, i belong to obc category and i am considering two options iiit allahabad IT and mnnit allahabad cse. The obc category cutoff for Mnnit allahabad cse is less(in the sense i need a better rank to get mnnit allahabad cse). So I can get mnnit allahabad cse in upcoming rounds. But I am literally confused between these two, I asked several seniors from both college and most of them prefer the other college (means if they are studying in mnnit they prefer iiit), and some of them preferred mnnit despite being from mnnit. Now i am confused whether i should freeze this option (IIIT Allahabad IT) or float to

try for Mnnit allahabad cse.

From 29 Batch, only 1 year left for intern season seriously regretting for wasting 1st year . I had not not any project skills and no dsa done only did little cp till pupil(cp 31 till 1200) . What should I do now - start Dsa or continue cp or other webdev,Ai, or make project through ai other stuff etc etc .Seniors Please Guide mee seriously 🤧

Hello seniors,

I got Mnnit allahabad ece in this round but I am scared by its infra/hostels.

So I want to choose IiitA over it. should I choose it+MBA or ece. I want to share my thoughts on that please correct me if I am wrong.

Ece is a established course but it's way tough than It and the company hiring for core ece students are way lesser than It. So we have to prepare for tech also which probably sucks.

On the other hand It+MBA is a fresh, easy and more opportunistic course than ece only if it allows lateral exit. Otherwise MBA from iiit A is kind of nonsense. Does it has lateral exit option?

So should I go with ece or It+MBA and please tell me about its lateral exit options

Seniors please tell that how internship process will be like really cg matters more than DSA . As iam from ECE. Is there any threshold cg for internship. And how the recruitment process will be. How many ECE seniors got internships etc.. please helpp
