UGAT EXAM EXPERIENCE

Hi everyone! I have a few questions about the UGAT (IIM Bangalore) exam experience from those who have already appeared for it:

  1. In which cities are the test centres available?
  2. What is the reporting time, and what time does the exam usually start?
  3. What is the total duration of the exam?
  4. Is there any sectional timing, or can you move freely between sections?
  5. In what order do the sections appear? (Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning)
  6. Are you allowed to revisit previous sections?
  7. How is the overall test-day experience at the centre (check-in, security, rough sheets, calculators, etc.)?
  8. Any tips or things that surprised you on the actual exam day?

Can I Qualify in UGAT?

I scored 95% in the 10th ICSE board and recently scored 91 marks in the UGAT 2025 PYP mock. I belong to the EWS category. What are my chances of qualifying for UGAT 2026 if I work hard from now on?

is iimb ug eco worth it?

so the iimb ug in econ stood out for me as i wanted to do econ as bachelor’s. I had other mumbai colleges in my list like NMIMS, etc. because i stay and study in mumbai. im currently in 12th and need y’all’s help in deciding if changing my state for this new ug degree worth it? i’m personally attracted a lot but seeing some people shifting to other colleges even after they got in here makes me wanna know if anything is wrong with IIMB UG.

Ipmat dropper here, planning to write all the exams, starting with iimb ug, is the math section similar to that of ipmats? Please do tell the differences, and also, are there sectional time limits/locks? Or can we freely navigate through the whole paper

Need honest advice: I got into IIM Bangalore's BSc (Hons) in Data Science and also BMSCE CSE. Which would you choose in 2026?

Hi everyone,

I'm in a genuine dilemma and would really appreciate advice from people who have experience in academia or the tech industry.

I recently got the offer letter to IIM Bangalore's BSc (Hons) in Data Science, and at the same time I also have admission to BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bengaluru, in Computer Science Engineering (CSE).

Initially, I was completely sure that I'd pursue engineering. BMSCE is a Tier-1 engineering college in Karnataka with a strong reputation, and getting CSE there felt like the obvious choice.

But now that I've received the IIM Bangalore offer, I'm confused.

My biggest concern is not prestige—it's which path will make me more relevant by the time I graduate in 2030.

With AI changing software engineering so rapidly, I'm wondering:

  • Will a traditional CSE degree still provide the best opportunities?
  • Does IIM Bangalore's Data Science program prepare students better for the future?
  • Is the curriculum industry-relevant enough?
  • How do employers view this degree compared to a B.Tech in CSE?
  • If you had these two options today, which would you choose and why?

I've attached screenshots of the IIM Bangalore curriculum so you can judge the course itself instead of relying on the brand name.

I'm specifically looking for opinions from:

  • Professors
  • Recruiters
  • Software engineers
  • Data scientists
  • People working in AI/ML
  • Anyone who has been through similar career decisions

Please don't tell me to choose one just because it's an IIM or just because it's engineering. I'd really appreciate objective reasoning about long-term career prospects, employability, flexibility, higher studies, and future-proofing.

Thanks a lot for your time—I genuinely appreciate any insights.

Gap year after 12

To note : i passed 12 this year only if i take gap it will be my first year of gap
*please help me please*
My situation:Hey so i am a 12 th pass with pcm this year only my 12th percentage is 77 which is not good for merit based admission and my jee percentile is also not good it was 51 percentile and i only have one college entrance which was siteee and got the same marks as jee mains same …. My cousins who went to the college told me don’t stress they will take you no matter what you just need to call them and stuff so I didn’t really prep for siteee and just gave it now i am realising it’s not that easy i have talked to them multiple times and they are saying we can’t upgrade you from civil as you have low marks and we have no seats available either so that was my only hope i was also getting nmims hyd but family said no point in going to hyd for nmims as it it is so far from where i live and not that great city in their opinion so i have no option for college in btech I didn’t apply to many because i was not aware of a lot of colleges and their deadlines just went by i have cuet score too but i am avoiding Delhi guru gram noida as there is no safety for girls I want to experience good college life where I can travel the city alone too and not worry about getting unwanted attention yes it is true fir almost all city in India but in Delhi area it is too much so I didn’t really apply to any colleges that side making my college list very small and now i litreally have no option for college this year

My question: so i have been exploring bba programs and was thinking to take a gap and prepare for ipmat and go to college next year but it is not an easy exam and you need to have backups as well so while talking to my sister she said ipmat is very tough you won’t get in it’s not easy you need to study 12 hrs a day and that’s just not possible if you couldn’t study in those 2 yrs in school how can you commit to ipmat and she is not wrong I don’t have that much discipline and that’s why kept safe options like Christ symbi Xavier Mumbai nmims Nirma and other but my sister said that if you have even a little bit of doubt that you can’t get into iim than you won’t your mind knows it but you don’t want to accept and after a gap you still go to Christ and these college it won’t matter that you took gap for these colleges and could have gotten in this year only better take in any college in our city and do some thing of your own if you take gap it will only be worth it if you go to the tier 1 colleges … I want to know your opinions and suggestion and any experience you have with gap years if i should do it or not since i am from pcm bg and going to a complete different field will it be hard ? I am so confused as to what should i do and already getting depressed for my gap and that is also one big worry but i think if i have a plan it will help right i feel lost
