Living in Elkford

Anyone live and work in Elkford? I see the mines are hiring all kinds of positions. Is the work at the mines really tough, or is the atmosphere relaxed and focused on safety? I tried oil rigs a few years ago, and it was insanely tough 12 hour days with no breaks (yes, you read that right), and an oily mess. I'm 44, have been a carpenter for 20 years. I was an apprentice millwright for 2 years before that. I have a diploma in mechanical engineering technology from 2002. Just curious about Elkford. Looks nice and quiet, with affordable housing.

I'm still dreaming of buying a lot and building myself a nice little home, one day. I love snowboarding and hiking. I don't have much saved up after some stupid mistakes on the stock market.

Vaughn Palmer: B.C. Conservative leader dumps proven legislative leaders for her hard-right backers

Vaughn Palmer argues that the B.C. Conservative leader weakened the party’s effectiveness in the legislature by replacing experienced, capable leadership figures with MLAs whose primary qualification was loyalty to the party’s hard-right faction.
