What are these? I saw some bugs and other things in my couch. Chat gpt said carpet beetles and pantry beetles. I had a full freak out over carpet beetles but now I’m not so sure.

Am I crazy or this isn’t a water bug? [Southern Illinois]

To me (chemistry PhD student with no experience identifying insects) this looks like an American Cockroach. Do they nest indoors? Picture makes it look tiny this guy was like 2-3 in long. Um also sorry but he’s not with us anymore in the second photo. That’s what happens when you enter my crib unannounced and scuttle across my floor at midnight while I’m studying quantum chemistry lol

What crawled out from under this??

I am at work and moved this foot rest under my desk when all of a sudden some large insect comes crawling out! It was too dark under my desk to see it clearly, but it looked like the size of a quarter and was brown from what I could tell. I then flipped the foot rest over and found this possible web? Thinking this insect could have made this? Anyway, curious if anyone has ideas of what it could be! I tried to look for it, but it has crawled away to some other part of my office and I can’t find it. I am located in Connecticut!

Cockroach Nymph? Found on kitchen counter [New Jersey, USA]

This bug was crawling around the kitchen counter of a rural home I was visiting in New Jersey, USA. I think it’s a cockroach nymph, but I live in a major city nearby and have never seen one with a shell like this before. Apologies for the blurry photos; it wouldn’t sit still and the homeowner ended up crushing it in a paper towel.

found this under my deck outside. What is this?

I am concerned whether this is a fungi infestation or bugs. either way would really appreciate any feedback, perhaps some other forums i could visit. I live in the mediterranean, if that helps.

Insect cloud all summer in the same spot

This cloud of little fruit fly-looking things appears in the same spot every year and stays there all spring summer and fall. Not sure if it’s an air current thing or what. It’s always just there in front of our back porch, about 10 ft x 5 ft and about 5 ft off the ground. Ideas of what kind of fly it is, and why the cloud is always at the same spot? We’re in Quebec.
