Year-round Stinkbugs

My mother has had stinkbugs in her home for years now. I've seen her use soapy water, sprayed peppermint and used mesh in the fireplace to keep them out, dryer sheets. vacuumed them up, flush them. One time one crawled in her coffee pot and she smelled it when she heated it up and had to throw the pot out. Sometimes she wakes up with them in her bed and the smell wakes her up. They are horrible. It's in the 70s here today, she lit a fire in the fireplace last night to try to deter them, and some crawled out this afternoon. She has another exterminator coming out next week. I can't believe that no one has invented a bait for these things. Don't they have nests? Where do they come from? I guess unless you've had this problem as a serious, long-term issue, or known someone that does, you can't know how invasive and ongoing the stress can be. She keeps things clean and has a nice home. I wish there was something more I could do. I am researching and finding out that amazingly, there is nothing left that she hasn't tried. She is talking about getting rid of her fireplace now but I don't even think that will help since they come in the windows sometimes. Advice? Thoughts? I followed the link for the info about them on other threads but it doesn't really tell me anything she hasn't tried.

Hello people smarter than me.

What is this bug? My wife and I find 2-3 of these a day, all the same size, usually around bathroom sink or kitchen counter. Every so often on wall or ceiling in another room.

RELEVANT INFO:

Brooklyn, NY
Started seeing them late summer to now
0-3 a day
Can fly, but usually stationary
Often found along seam/in shadow

Thank you.

Help me brainstorm designs for a “new species” of stag beetle that is both cool and believable.

I’m looking for features that are outlandish but can actually exist in nature (e.g. the growths on the carapace of samurai crabs, the rear femora of leaf-footed bugs, etc.) that would make it look obviously not real but still believable.

Bonus imaginary points if you have ecological justifications for the features.

Feel free to do edits on my sketch if it will help visualize your ideas.
