I just hate new update of Instagram. I've never bought any followers. I've never used any third party website or app to boost my growth. Still I am losing 100s of followers daily because of Instagram bot removal algorithm. Some of them are people I know. I don't know how it works but it removed my 5000 followers in last week. I literally just hate it. I've lost all the interey😡

Hi all,

I run a small info page for people living in Germany. Today ~2,500 new accounts started following the page within about 10 minutes.

I looked through a sample and they all share the same pattern:

- Random English usernames ending in 3 digits

- Display name identical to the username minus the numbers

- Mismatched profile photos

- Nothing to do with my niche or language

I suspect it was done on purpose, but can't prove it.

So far I've only restricted tags/mentions and flagged a few accounts as spam. I haven't mass-removed anything.

Questions:

1. Does this kind of spike affect how my posts are shown?

2. Does Instagram clean these accounts up on its own? How long did it take for you?

3. Is it better to remove them in small batches, or wait?
