The Future of Danny as Ghost Fist & His New Powers

As of… pretty much all the time, I’ve been thinking a lot about Danny and the new role he inhabits as Ghost Fist. I know it’s a divisive change, but I personally really like it so far. It, ironically given the circumstances of how it came to be, has breathed new life into the character.

Specifically, his new powers. Sure, he has a new grape flavoured Iron Fist equivalent, but also energy constructs, intangibility, invisibility, exorcism, necromancy & more. He feels less like a martial artist with a flaming fist, and more like a martial artist and full blown sorcerer, at least to me.

Thinking to the future of the character, I know a lot of you understandably want him to return to the role of Iron Fist (and I myself am not opposed to it), but seeing as Ghost Fist may be his primary role for the next few years, what do you hope to see from Danny as Ghost Fist? Whether that be further expansion upon his new powerset, narrative decisions or anything that comes to mind, really.

Personally speaking, I’m very interested in the differences in cultivating and growing his new powers compared to his old ones. I also think it’s time he gets a new love interest, him needing to return to the Underworld to “recharge” as it were, could provide some interesting drama if he had a romantic partner.

Iron Fist of the Ming Dynasty by DYNAM! Official

I got a my friend (who’s a fellow martial artist/historical reenactor.) to draw me Iron Fist (not Danny Rand) in any dynasty of his choosing. He choose the Ming dynasty, as they didn’t allow anyone to own armor. I really dig the design and I’ll probably have him color it and do more stuff.

I find it frustrated people call Danny Rand a “white savior” figure when he spent most of his first few years in a equal partnership with Luke Cage

While his backstory is of white boy who became a Asian martial art champion but he spent around 72 issues in a co leading a book with Luke Cage and was in one of Marvel’s first inter racial relationship with Misty Knight.

They where both characters made to capitalize on the popularity of popular movie genres of Kung Fu and Blaxploitation who where put together to save them both from cancellation.

Their friendship is among my favorites in comics. They’re a very odd couple: street smart framed ex con turned social worker and millionaire industrialist with a spiritual background and a heart of gold. Both them and Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen are among my favorite friendships in comics, just two fellas who come from completely different backgrounds and lifestyles, but would have each other’s back in a heartbeat.

Far from being superior to people of color he was seen as a equal to Luke

Who is your favorite side character in the Defenders saga?

Mine is Ward. His storyline was very unusual and dark for mcu. He was also a spotlight for me in the Iron Fist show. I hope they will reveal the result of their adventure in Japan with Danny or at least mension him in the upcoming dd ba s3

I love this! Luke and Danny, same scene, separate times, haha

The first two panels are from Doctor Strange: The Oath. The second two are from Doctor Strange and the Sorcerers Supreme #7. I love that they revisited the Oath scene and gave Luke his own version of it, haha.

Finished Iron Fist on Netflix.. wish there was more

I know I am late to the table but finally got to binge watch all of the Netflix Defenders shows in order. I wasn't sure if I would like Iron Fist it sounded like Arrow but it really isn't. I really loved Iron Fist, Danny was annoying at first but I grew to really like him, but I loved the Colleen and Walker/Mary/? mystery personality and cranky Ward characters. What a big let down when I saw Colleen with her sword and glowing with the Iron Fist at the end. It really made me want a season 3 to follow her story. Also the vibe with all the characters had really come together. I thought Netflix did a good job, with all the Defenders. Each series held their own and I loved the Defenders together. The casting was great. I loved how Misty Knight crossed back and forth as well as others. But now I have questions since I have been left hanging.. What ends up happening to Colleen? Does she end up with her own comic or storyline? What about Walker/Mary/?

HELP. This is Iron Fists cameo in Doctor Strange: The Oath...

A few years later, they did the exact same cameo but with Luke Cage in a different book, but for the life of me, I can't remember where I saw it. Google is giving me either the run around or nothing. I know I'm not crazy!

Does anyone remember where Luke's cameo was from?? Thanks in advance!

Just finished Defenders!

This Show was insanely awesome. The fact the fans will gripe at a show like this is insane. This show is any Netflix marvel fans wet dream, if you have any problems with it grow up and enjoy the show. People need to just enjoy it because it was amazing. I can understand if you think the plot is a little weak but come on? When do we see the amount of people in one show like this?
My Favorite things were:

The Characters: I mean come on? Every single one of the im portant characters in the defenders show makes at least one appearance in this one. It’s awesome. The banter we get is so funny and just makes the show worth it

The length: while this was more of a mini series having 5 less episodes than any other show the fan in me just screams for more, but honestly it did it justice, the shorter structure lead to no dragging at all and made the show very binge-able (finished it in 2 days)

Other things:

The hand: I really enjoyed seeing all 5 fingers of the hand team up, and seeing elektra again. Continuing madam gao, Bakudo, and Electras story line was nice to see.

Overall I really really enjoyed this show and think it was a great “reward” for watching all the other shows (although those are entertaining by themselves) seeing the hero’s fight together was awesome.

Please let me know your thoughts !

I hope Brenda gets brought back and fixed in an upcoming run, where they also commit to her relationship Danny.

I think Brenda's a really great character and it's annoying to see how Heart of the Dragon handled her. I'd love to see her return and actually become Danny's girlfriend despite everything, or at least a close friend.

I could imagine Danny sticking with her despite everything and helping her get over her vengeance, similar to how he did for Joy Meachum.

Best and worst runs?

I started with Immortal. Loved the first half and enjoyed the second half despite the lower quality. I then read living weapon and didn’t enjoy it too much, especially the end. I just wasn’t a fan of undoing Davos’ redemption which seems to be a reoccurring thing in later runs. I tried reading the following runs but either for design reasons or art reasons or especially writing reasons, I couldn’t finish them. I then read his marvel premiere and solo run from the 70’s. Those are second and third to immortal for me. I wasn’t interested in his team up comics and appearances so i started his runs from the 90’s but i ended up skimming through them.

Overall he doesn’t have many good runs imo, though he is still my favorite marvel character. So I wanted to hear it from others. What are your favorite and least favorite runs? Are there any runs you think I should give a second chance?

Just Finished Iron Fist S1

I will say I know the show gets a lot of hate but I think it did more good than bad. I think my favorite character is ward, and honestly (maybe I’m just weird) I enjoyed the Rand business dealings part of the show more than the actual iron fist. I thought bakudo was a good villain and Harold was a good wild card. I did think it dragged late and felt like some of the episodes were unnecessary to the story line. Overall not a bad show but definitely the worst of the 4 defenders. Let me know your thoughts, also where does the hate for the show stem from?
