[Islander] Babylon - my newest field watch
Finally got the Islander Babylon
I was looking for something pretty specific and this ended up ticking all the boxes for me.
I needed a hardened titanium case because my work involves handling tools regularly, on top of technical meetings with C-levels, so I wanted something lightweight but able to take a bit of abuse.
I also specifically wanted solar. I just don’t want to babysit an automatic watch or worry about setting it if I haven’t worn it for a while. I had fond memories of my (now sold) Citizen eco drive.
The other requirements were:
-White dial with really strong legibility — I’m always on the move and don’t have the patience to spend extra seconds figuring out the time.
-No date — I honestly don’t care about the date and always find it annoying on watches.
-100m water resistance — nothing crazy, I just didn’t want the watch lacking in that department.
-20mm lugs so I can switch out NATOs easily
So far, it’s pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
Lightweight, practical and still nice enough to wear into a meeting. After 10 years of collecting, and refining my taste, this is the culmination of my watch hunting experience. It feels good. Really good.
