Does anyone know this cat in Highbury?

I spotted her today and was concerned about how skinny she is and she seemed weak. She was hanging out with 2 other cats (one Ginger and one Black). Anyone know anything about her or who might own her? Neighbours did not know

What’s it like living near the stadium? (Arsenal)

For background I’m looking at a property not far from the football stadium and I was wondering if any locals could answer the following:

How loud/bright does it get on match days?

Do lots of fans end up wandering the back streets pre/post match or do people tend to move on to pubs & the main roads quickly?

How difficult is it to travel in & out on match days (I know the stations can have a bit of disruption but aside from that).

What are the upsides and downsides of the area beyond the stadium itself?

If someone can please do me a solid and post this on other socials that would be amazing, I am not on any other platform but really hope to find the rightful owner

Mandeville Houses, Mantell Street, Islington. Looking south-west. (What is now Sainsbury's next to Chapel Market)

Mandeville Houses, N1

There is a bit of information in the link above.

This is where my dad and his siblings grew up before my nan and grandad were relocated and moved up to Bride Street because the flats were being demolished to make way for the big Sainsbury's store in 1980.

Here is also a bit about Toldpuddle Street.

In 1982, construction commenced on the Culpeper link-road, which was later renamed Tolpuddle Street upon its completion in 1986. This new route provided faster access between Liverpool Road and Penton Street, replacing two existing residential roads: Mantell Street (previously Sermon Lane) and Culpeper Street (previously Albert Street). The street’s name commemorated the 150th anniversary of a celebratory dinner at the White Conduit House, marking the remission of sentences against the Tolpuddle Martyrs, who had received substantial local support two years earlier. The south side of the street served as car parking areas for several years.

Beneath Tolpuddle Street, the car park and Liverpool Road lies the Islington Tunnel of the Regent’s Canal. This 960-yard brick-lined tunnel represented the canal’s most ambitious engineering project, tunnelling under both Islington Hill and the New River. The tunnel was designed by James Morgan, the canal’s engineer, who specified a 17 ft-wide horseshoe vault constructed over a brick invert.

The tunnel’s construction, which primarily took place in 1815, progressed from west to east using direct labour. At the time, the northern section of Pentonville consisted mainly of open land, providing adequate space for a construction depot and multiple construction shafts from which different tunnel sections were built. The tunnel became operational alongside the canal in 1820.

Are you a Special Someone with a strobe torch in Highbury?

You are doing my nut in.

How do I report this special person? They’re sat in their garden strobing into the sky and random peoples windows.

Where do i buy seasonal fruit & veg in islington?

it's been bugging me for ages. You hear it's rhubarb season but it's hard to know which one of the local grocers or markets actually has it, or if they're any better than big supermarket stuff.

I've started trying to map it myself, still very early stage: https://seasonal.fromearth.co/

Would this be useful to anyone else or are am I overthinking it?

Cream chargers

How do you flag something like this to the council? This is Essex Road N1. Utterly utterly depressing.

Help! package delivered to old address!

Hi guys! I recently had a little package delivered to my old address in N7 (I think it’s a card and a book as graduation gift from my mum - nothing expensive but more sentimental). I’ve moved out of London and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to check at the house it’s been delivered to and could keep it safe for me until I visit in July?

I would be eternally grateful and gift you chocolate and/or booze xxxxxxxx

Conveyancing Solicitor recco’s

Hi Islingtonians,

Hoping for some sage recco’s.
I had a bad experience with the last solicitor I used to purchase property, don’t have many friends who are homeowners to ask for recommendations and don’t trust blindly using my estate agent’s recco so was hoping someone might be able to share one they’ve had a good experience with.

I’m not buying anything worth millions so trying to find a conservatively priced but reliable solicitor for this purchase. I’d love this part of the process to be a no brainer and someone I can trust instead of crawling Google reviews every night and hoping for the best!

Thanks so much in advance.

Anyone use Just Eat delivery from Waitrose?

Ordered 2 x litres of their own brand gazpacho (due to the weather, obv) and a small Jason's sourdough loaf from their Clerkenwell branch earlier. The gazpacho is out of stock, I did state I didn't want a replacement. Just Eat have told me that they will refund the money for the soup... within 7 days. So I've just paid a little under 6 quid for a loaf that would have cost me about £2.40 in store. Won't be doing that again but you live and learn I guess. The delivery fella was very pleasant mind...

Update regarding the 19/38 proposed bus changes

Update 26 June 2026

"We would like to thank you for taking part on the consultation on proposals for changes to routes 19, 38 and 10.

Having analysed your responses, we have decided to go ahead with some of the changes we proposed, but with some changes to help respond to the concerns that have been raised.

In summary, the key adjustments and mitigations we are making to the original proposals are:

  • All the service changes will be kept under review, with particular focus on ensuring that sufficient capacity continues to be provided on the Essex Road to Holborn corridor

We are going ahead with curtailing route 38 so that it runs between Clapton Pond and Holborn, New Oxford Street instead of Victoria. We will also go ahead with withdrawing the short leg on route 38 to Clapton Garage. To better match demand, services will now run every 10 minutes instead of every 5 minutes on Saturdays and every 10 minutes instead of every 7-8 minutes on Sundays, early mornings and evenings, as set out in our original proposal.

To respond to the concerns about losing early morning and late evening through services to Victoria from Hackney, and to preserve affordable late night and early morning access to and from the West End, Night Bus route N38 will operate about an hour earlier in the evening and later in the morning all week.

We are going ahead with rerouting route 19 after Hyde Park to serve Victoria station instead of Battersea Bridge. We will also go ahead with increasing early morning Sunday frequencies on route 19 from every 15 minutes to a service running every 12 minutes.

We will go ahead with introducing new route 10 – but will extend it to Newington Green (south side) instead of terminating at Mildmay Park, as had been proposed. This change will help respond to concerns raised in consultation and provides a new service to residents of Newington Green. This means the new route will now run between Newington Green and Battersea Bridge, with services running every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 12 minutes on Sundays and all evenings.

We know this outcome might not be what everyone wanted to see, but the changes will improve reliability on routes 19 and 38, which are both currently not meeting their reliability targets, and will better match service levels to demand. The changes will reduce duplication and over-provision in areas where we are running more buses than are needed, which will help us create a more financially sustainable network. We are also providing new journey opportunities with the introduction of route 10 at Newington Green.

We recognise that these changes will mean that some customers will need to change buses to complete their journeys. Same-stop interchange is available between routes 10, 19 and 38 at Angel station, where shelters, good lighting and real time information are available. The Mayor’s Hopper Fare allows customers to change buses for no extra charge within an hour of first touching in.

We will keep all the service changes under review, with particular focus on ensuring that sufficient capacity continues to be provided on the Essex Road to Holborn corridor. Passenger loading surveys will be undertaken following implementation.

Our ambition is for London’s bus network to be the best of any city in the world. That’s why we are reshaping the network to ensure it can continue to deliver for the changing needs of Londoners now and into the future. This means providing an attractive, reliable, green bus service which reflects how Londoners travel today, offers better customer experience, and is financially sustainable. London is constantly changing and, as our most flexible form of public transport, our bus network must change too."

Tldr; The 38 will be revised to run between Clapton Pond to Holborn (New Oxford Street), no longer running between Tottenham Court Road and Victoria.

The 19 will be revised to run between Finsbury Park to Victoria, taking up the south section of the 38. This route will no longer run between Hyde Park Corner and Battersea Bridge, South Side.

A new bus route (10) will be introduced to run between Newington Green to Battersea Bridge, (South Side), taking up the south section of the 19.

The routing of N19 and N38 will remain unchanged.
