70s Jazz-Funk Recommendations

I’m a huge fan of the sound of early 70s Japanese jazz-funk. Does anyone have any recommendations for albums or artists that have a similar sound?

Think Sadao Watanabe’s Mbali Africa, Toshiaki Yokota’s Flute Adventure, Jiro Inagaki’s Funky Stuff, Kiyoshi Sugimoto’s Our Time.

I’d love to hear what experienced listeners have to recommend. Thanks in advance.

Turning 1987 Japanese Jazz-fusion into a funkier flip. Built from Himiko Kikuchi’s Flying Beagle on Koala Sampler.

Flip of look your back! Very funny to play with this song and exploring the fusion side of Himiko.

Great Wall of Japan...which one's your favorite? I just got the George Otsuka Quintet "In Concert!" the other day. It's super deep, check it out. Also, "Straight Ahead" by the New Herd is hard to beat. But then there's the incredible funkiness of "Green Caterpillar"...why is Japanese jazz so good?
