Has anyone else NOT bought fabric since the closing?

It isn't because I don't have local fabric options, it's just that buying fabric isn't fun for me anymore. I have a sinful stash, I am a casual sewing lady, but half of the fun for me was the enormous discount I would buy the fabric at and now that I know how cheap it was for me to buy I don't want to buy fabric for even sale prices because our employee discount was so good.

Same with yarn but I crochet a TON, so I have supplemented that along the way but the joy is also gone there. I buy what I need and move on; no more cart fulls of multiple projects at once.

Any one else going through anything similar?

Seeing Joann fabrics at Parisina

The Joann in North Houston was taken over by Mexican fabric store, Parisina, and they took over some of the leftover stock. It‘s a bit of a shock to see specific fabrics I bought in 1/4 yard strips due to cost going for $1.99 a yard clearance. The bolts still have the original labels. I definitely have been coming through and stocking up, my latest haul was ~17 yards of mostly embellished mesh and lace.

I will say the normal stock is priced more in line with value competitors. It‘s just the leftovers they’re trying to offload that’s so cheap.

"Place & Time" framed pin boards?

This is a long shot for sure! I bought these two "Place & Time" framed bulletin/display boards during my local JoAnn's clearance. I used them to make travel collages, and frankly, I should have purchased more. They are really nice, with pinnable fabric, glass coverage, and sturdy frames. There is a metallic accent around the inside of the frame, meaning the look isn't easily replaceable with a similar product. I have a bunch of Ireland trip mementos that are on a flimsy, non-protected bulletin board atm. I'd love one more of these frames, but obviously, JoAnn is toast.

Does anyone know if Place & Time got rebranded for sale elsewhere? Does anyone have one of these display frames I could purchase?

RIP JoAnn

The weather had enough of Joann sitting around 😔

The storm yesterday apparently was strong enough to do this.

I'm surprised no one has snatched this location up yet. But, well, atleast they won't have to worry about the sign, I guess.

Any interest in magazine archives?

Hi everyone!

My first time posting in this sub, I bought 2 Joann magazines from 2005 on ebay and really enjoyed the nostalgia flipping through the pages. I am taking them to a local print shop to scan all the pages and wanted to put them together and create some kind of archival blog. Would anyone be interested in seeing the blog once completed? I am pretty busy working and traveling but can definitely make an updated post once completed.

Does anyone recognize this fabric?

A few years ago, my ex threw away my baby blanket after his dog peed on it and he didn’t want to wash it. He didn’t end up telling me that until I had been looking for it for weeks.

I have been thinking about this blanket every day for the past three years. It is butter yellow felt - ish feeling fabric, with blue stars and moons, and puppies sleeping on clouds. I also attached a picture of it. I know it’s not a great picture, but it’s the only one I have.

I have Google image searched for it and searched eBay and Etsy.

If anyone happens to ever remember seeing this fabric in the early 2000s please let me know where! It might be a shot in the dark, but I would really love to find it and replicate my baby blanket.

I think it was most likely from Joann’s bc that was our local fabric shop.

Or, if anyone knows of a place that I could get custom designed fabric, that would also be great.

Thank you in advance 🙏😭
