looking for work

recently got rejected from a conservation company and honestly feeling pretty discouraged. i’ve been unemployed for a while and keep getting rejection emails/texts and it’s starting to wear on me.

i have some hands-on experience already. i took s-212 chainsaw training (didn’t fully pass because of a chap strike issue), still worked as a backup sawyer, and i’m comfortable with power tools and physical outdoor work. i’m a girl and i genuinely like tough, hands-on work.

i’m mainly interested in tree work, but open to anything hands-on. i’ve applied to a lot of tree companies in my area and either got no response or got rejected, same with park ranger type jobs and other entry-level outdoor roles. at this point i’m not sure if it’s my resume, experience, or just me not being what they’re looking for.

if anyone in oc has advice or knows companies actually hiring entry-level outdoor/labor work, i’d really appreciate it.

looking for work

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for a job and wanted to see if anyone knows of places hiring. I’m a college basketball player and a business student, and I have experience working front desk, in food and beverage, as a private household manager, and as a personal assistant during YouTube video shoots where I helped with errands and behind-the-scenes tasks.

Right now I do stat keeping and Uber Eats, but I’m looking for something more stable and consistent. I’m open to different types of work and I’m reliable, hardworking, and a quick learner. My classes are online so my schedule is very flexible. If anyone has any leads or suggestions, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

Tired of looking for plumbing job in OC

That’s the brutal truth about plumbing and a lot of other trades right now — companies only want experienced techs.
I’ve been calling plumbing companies for months trying to get a helper/apprentice position with no luck.
I honestly don’t know if OC’s job market is just cooked right now or if plumbing is like this everywhere.
I have about a year of experience, but everywhere I call wants at least 3 years. And it’s not like you can fake that in plumbing — it’ll show immediately in the field.
People say the trades are in demand, but most companies don’t even want to train anymore. At that point it starts feeling like any other industry, maybe even harder to break into.
If you have any available entry level position for a construction worker or a plumber helper/apprentice with a year of experience let me know

Anyone hiring in IT in OC ?

Hello everyone ,

I’ve been actively applying and pushing hard over the past few months for roles in AI, automation, and project/ product management positions, but I haven’t been able to secure the right opportunity yet.

I come from a background where I’ve:

* Worked on AI and automation across companies like EY, and P&G.

At this point, I’m opening this up to the community:

If you know of any roles, teams, or people I should connect with, I would genuinely appreciate it.

I’m open to:

* Full-time/ part time roles

Even a small lead or conversation could make a huge difference.

Thank you all 🙏

South OC- summer jobs for teachers?

Hi Orange County! I am a second year teacher in South OC who is looking to find a summer job that… is not teaching (or nannying/babysitting).

I LOVE TEACHING don’t get me wrong, but I teach middle school all year and I would love a time where I can work in a more adult facing position.

Does anyone have recommendations for places I could look for summer jobs? The downside of my resume is that 95% of my work experience has been in teaching in some capacity.

I’ll work in a restaurant, I’ll work in retail, I’ll do almost anything that I can learn to do to avoid working as a teacher, nanny, or camp counselor this summer.
I spent a ton of time this afternoon applying at chain restaurants, fast food spots, and a few chain retail stores. If anyone has any more recommendations for seasonal or part time work (I could work nights and weekends during the school year, too!) I would really appreciate a point in the right direction!

The OC fair is a bit too far of a drive with gas prices as they are right now. I need something Irvine and below.

Outside of teaching, I’ve done art lessons, volleyball lessons, administrative assistant work, and art commissions. I can take care of pets and animals pretty easily and my summer hours are totally available. I am not taking any trips and plan to be around and available to work.

Thank you all in advance!

Any interview tips from those working for the County of Orange?

I recently applied to a county IT position that was a "continuous" opening. Given the pace of government hiring and how long the position had been posted I wasn't really expecting anything, but within three days I got emailed to schedule an SOI assessment.

For anyone that's been through these, how technical were the questions or are they more typical STAR/behavioral even for tech jobs? Are the hiring manager/members of the team even part of this process?

All I've been told is that it's a panel, everyone gets asked the same exact questions, and top scorers go onto an eligibility list. Does that mean they aren't really hiring right now and you just get pulled off a list when the job process gets going at some point?

Thanks for the help!

Hard time finding a job

Hello, as stated I've been applying to jobs for about 7 months now. I don't have a college degree, but I do have work experience in retail & warehouse work. My availability seems to be the main thing hindering me, I have to conform to my mothers work schedule since she refuses to drive so I have to be available to pick her up and drop her off when needed. ( she's tried to take the driving test multiple times and I'm convinced she fails them on purpose .... not to mention that she kept a dog my sister left behind when she moved out that isn't trained at all so she can't be left alone at home)

She currently works a 4 work day 3 off , 3 work day 4 off alternating schedule. Starts on Wednesday ends on Saturdays. 530pm-530am

I've been desperately looking for a job since I got laid off in September of last year and haven't had any luck.

If anyone has a family business or know of any company's hiring that would be able to work with my schedule please dm me.
I'll take anything at this point.

Help!

I've been having a rough time landing a job. I've been turned down at so many sites I'm ready to just quit. I don't get much feedback from the interviews so I'm not exactly sure what I need to improve on. Does anyone know where I can go for mock interviews? Please don't suggest AI. I've already gone down that path and it clearly hasn't helped much. It would be great to receive some human feedback. TIA!

Valet restaurant (looking for a job)

Hi,

My wife and myself just relocated to Huntington Beach (coming from Ponce Inlet FL).
I have been a Valet for over 2 years and am looking to keep doing the same thing. Would anyone have a contact or a place in mind that has a valet system?
Maybe someone you know is looking to hire?

I’m a very hard worker, excellent driving skills (can drive stick shift comfortably), bilingual (English / French) and am available to work any day at any time. I can forward my resume in private message.

Available to work in Huntington / Newport / Costa Mesa / Laguna beach areas…

I will hook it up if someone find me an opportunity 🙏🏼

Thank you and have a great rest of your day.
