My friend (23M) and has been looking for almost a year with almost nothing coming back. Market's brutal right now and he's in a situation he needs to get out of urgently, so I'm asking strangers. He didn't ask me to do this, but I've been watching him spend hours every day job searching and be really stressed so I want to help him out because I see how much its affecting him and how much he wants it.

He's got a CAD certification and SolidWorks experience. He's also worked a couple years in fine dining service and has a bit of experience in formal sales, so he's comfortable. He has been pretty open to anything and just needs something that pays enough and is stable enough to get out of his current situation. From what I know, he has a lot of interest in automotives, business, and tech, but I know he can excel in whatever it is bc he has that drive and capability.

And if there are any business owners here, he's also really motivated to learn business, so if you're in need of an apprentice with that kind of drive and hunger that you want to pass your knowledge onto, he's the one. He wants to understand how a business actually works from the inside, and he'll earn it.

And referrals count just as much as openings. If your company is hiring and you'd be willing to pass his resume to whoever does the hiring, that'd honestly be amazing too.

I know its a weird ask and he probably wouldn't even want me helping him, but its hard seeing him be stuck in his situation and seeing all the drive and hunger there without it being put to use or recognized, so I'm asking anyway because I know if someone gives him a door, he'll do the rest.

Hello, I am a 21 woman, studying in CSULB attempting to get an entry level job in CHOC, I have attempted three times and Ive had no luck, I have four years of customer experience, lead, management, serving, and I have listed what I am studying in school. Yet no luck, I am looking for an ER registering job, a patient transport, or front lobby. I assume these are all highly competitive as I cannot find jobs in Choc, UCI, nor St Joseph. (I live 5 minutes away by each on freeway). Is there any guidance I may have? Thank you, all help is appreciated.

Currently live in koreatown and work in El segundo.

Potentially New job hiring manager suggested that they'd be glad to allow me to come in only three days per week through October, at which point i would relocate to some point in between Koreatown and Costa Mesa that could make the commute more manageable.

Email from recruiter:

“Yeah, it will be a decent drive from Koreatown for you. I remember you said your lease expires in October, which could hopefully give you the flexibility to move somewhat closer while remaining fairly close to where you're currently at still. This could alleviate this concern somewhat, if this is still true.
As for compensation, we do intend to be competitive with market leaders, especially when factoring in our equity upside, and we'd intend to give you a sizeable raise if you joined, both due to your commute plus your skill set. While specific numbers will be clearer after we complete final interviews, I do expect that your salary will be approaching [42% increase] with over 100k in equity on top of that.

Also, we'd be willing to include a sign-on bonus of some kind to help offset any moving costs, breaking of a lease, etc.”

I really don’t want to move but there’s no other option that would make sense. I’m thinking about saying forget it because I’m prioritizing hybrid or remote for a new role. This will be 100% in person.

Getting a room for the weekday isn’t worth it. Not moving and commuting is soul-draining. I don’t want to move. If I did move I’d wonder what are some good areas in between LA and Orange County, or IN OC?

hi !! I have been with my current employer for 8.5 years now (I started as a clinical intern at age 16 in March of 2018). I started my bachelor’s program at OU in Fall 2024, and since my supervisor and our higher-ups have been accommodating to my school schedule. I was informed about a month ago that “operational needs” have shifted, and these operational needs have forced me to put in my resignation with the company (our operational hours are now Monday-Friday 6am–6pm, which leaves me to get 20-22 hours at max with an hour long lunch). I am saddened to leave, though am thrilled to learn new skills. I have been apart of this company for a 1/3 of my life — my muscles and body know this job all too well.

I put in my resignation about a month ago. My last day will be July 31. I have been applying to so many jobs in the OKC metro area, and have received ZERO call backs, emails, or any messages of interest.

I am seeking help in where to apply that will pay me a livable wage for the skill sets I have, and am wanting to explore new skill sets to learn! For the next year I will need to work 10-hour shifts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays as my school schedule on campus will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This school schedule is 100% non-negotiable. I will be cramming 36 credit hours between the Fall, Spring, and a summer abroad semester. I’ve applied to Costco, Picasso Cafe, Duckie’s Woodfire, a local flooring company, Pink’s (window washing company), Aldi, Tamashii, and Sprouts to name a few.

I will give a brief history of my work experience:

1. I worked at City Bites for 1.5 years (cook, cashier, trainer, lead)
2. Mango Cannabis for 6 months (I don’t much consider this worth detailing) as a budtender and receptionist
3. Martin Bionics for 8.5 years as a clinical intern, prosthetist technician, assembly technician, production and assembly lead, supervisor of assembly and production, fabrication assistive technician, research and development technician, and overall warehouse worker, stocker, inventory management, etc.

I currently make $21.25 an hour, and this is truly an abomination of my worth. For example, a technician with no experience at a local prosthetic company called Scott Sabolich start off at $26 an hour.

Needless to say, I am confident in the skills I have attained and am wanting to apply these skills to my new job.

I’d love to learn HVAC or other technical skills, though I’m unsure if that would be feasible with my year’s hourly needs. I understand that I may have to work in the service industry…. But who is hiring? And will I make a livable wage?

Any help or suggestions are so very welcomed!

TLDR: I need a job in the OKC metro (preferably downtown, Paseo area, Asian district area, midtown, etc so I don’t hav to use lots of gas in commuting) I have excellent technical skills and the ability to work well alone and with a team!

Hello, curious to hear if anyone has any ideas for me. I graduated from Chapman with a BS in Business Administration in 2024. During university I worked in B2B sales of packaging supplies for a small business (left because pay wasn’t competitive, not enough hours and low commission split. Also difficult product to sell with very little differentiation from other market offerings). I also worked as a restaurant server and actually made better money doing that than the sales gig. After graduation I got my real estate license and have had some success but the housing market is rough right now and I think it may be time to look for employment that offers a steady salary. I’ve pondered going back into restaurants as a server or bartender but I’d really prefer to utilize my bachelors degree and get into something with the possibility of upward mobility. Chapman career fairs are a joke. Wondering if anyone has any ideas for how I could find steady employment with the above resumè. TIA!

Hi everybody! I left OC nearly a decade ago having lived in Anaheim most of my life. I’ve been missing my friends and the family that still lives in the area. I’ve been weighing a return but I just wanted to ask y’all how life is back home. Specifically, the opportunities and the economy. I live in Boise and the cost of living unfortunately has gotten untenable. I know, California costs more of course but the wages are considerably higher as well. I’m not old but I’m not as young I used to be. Ideally, I’m looking to get into a trade while my body can still handle the work. How are y’all getting by day to day and how is life in Orange County?

Hello everyone! I figure this is a long shot but I feel so hopeless. I’m stuck in a job that I took just to get by until I found something that is an actual career. I’m stuck waking up every morning at 4:30am to go to a Colonoscopy clinic.. kinda shitty (no pun intended). I don’t make enough to live comfortable at all even though i work full time making $25/ hour and my rent is only $1555. I have no family really due to having an abusive mother and my Associates in Business has gotten me no where because i don’t have connections. I’ve worked as a server for 5+ years, did remote court reporting with Veritext that barely made me 2k a year after putting myself through the schooling (deposition officer). I have also been a sales manager for a Laguna Beach boutique, and now for the past three years I have been doing patient care coordination (office admin work). I am extremely personable, capable, Intelligent, and hard working yet in this current job market there seems to be no hope. I have considered medical programs but in Socal they are either too competetive, expensive, or not online. I know everything is about connections so please if anybody can help me get into something else it could save my life. I will clean houses, or be a personal assistant ANYTHING PLEASE. I promise you I am capable and any single job i’ve ever had i’ve been able to pick up the information within a week or less. Please PLEASE anyone in Southern California, Orange County area if you have work available I will learn anything possible at this point.

Hi, I work with many neurodivergent adults who are unsuccessful at finding jobs on their own or with their job coaches due to sensory issues, customer facing or the intensity of the work.

I am looking for recommendations for recommendations for Part Time work, with little to none customer interactions, sensory friendly (not outdoors, bullpen style layout or with fluorescent lights). Most of them have AA’s, are skilled in many areas, have difficult clearly communicating summaries, but excellent at performing to clearly described goals. Any guidance would be appreciated. They all have interacted with Regional Center and Department of Rehab agencies like Easter Seals, Project Independence, No Ordinary Moments, etc. TIA
