Any local metal or punk shows coming up?

I’m not a local, I’m coming into town to visit family, & I was wondering if there’s a local death metal or punk scene? If so, are there any shows coming up this weekend or next? Thank you for any help!

Uber or rental car advice (Johnstown Amtrak station & Johnstown Airport)

Hi there, I'm from Johnstown but haven't lived there in 20 years so a little out of the loop.

I'm coming into the Amtrak station on Walnut St, but then not sure how I'll get around. My return trip is leaving from Johnstown Airport. I saw the airport has a Hertz counter, so I thought of renting a car and returning it at the airport when I leave. It looks like there used to be a Hertz near the train station (Bedford St) which would be ideal, but from what I can tell it might not be there anymore. (Does anyone know?) My destination is Bedford, to visit family, but Johnstown has the closest train and airport, as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions on how to get around, either to the rental car place, or instead of a rental car? Last time I was there Uber was pretty spotty and I don't know if I'll have luck getting someone to take me from Johnstown to Bedford lol. Would anyone know of a way to get from the Amtrak station to the airport (to pick up a rental car) - is there any kind of shuttle? Do you think I'd be likely to get an Uber?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks :)

Looking for a Kidney

Most people don’t see the part after the transplant.

In 2023, I went through a liver and kidney transplant. My liver survived. My kidney didn’t. Since then, it’s been dialysis (at Latrobe), weakness, learning to walk farther again with a cane, and trying to stay strong enough to qualify for another kidney transplant.

Now I’m fighting for a second chance.

A living donor could save my life and cut years off the wait. Even sharing this post could help the right person see it.

If you’ve ever wondered whether one person can truly change someone’s future... this is one of those times.

Please share. ❤️

Thank you!

William

Where do you meet people in the area

I posted here about ten months ago, but life got in the way and now I'm back to the search. I'm not sure how easy it is to meet people and make friends in this area. Since I'm going back to work soon, I'm hoping for something that's not a big commitment, and I already asked in another thread about volunteering. The hobbies I take part in now tend to be pretty solitary (reading, writing, going for walks through Westmont or Stackhouse, etc). But I really just want to meet people, so I'm open to anything.

I'm afraid it's too late, but Frank Burns should be voted out in the primary for his shameful vote to not ban "white-only" neighborhoods in PA. And yet, he's running unopposed. The election is on the 19th.

Looking into Johnstown/Altoona due Affordability

I'm looking into the Johnstown area due to affordability. I work virtually and my daughter is in cyber school. I am Black and she is mixed race, I'm wondering what life is like there not just for diversity but also things to do, places to eat, walkability, etc.?
