ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಲಿಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಯಲು ಸಹಾಯವಾಗಲೆಂದು ನಾನು ಒಂದು transliteration ಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ರಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

Hello everyone!

To help us all type Kannada in English letters in a consistent manner, I have published a Kannada transliteration scheme for Roman (English) letters.

I have also created an Anki flash card set for all the vocabulary words in this blog post meant to demonstrate the pronunciation of the transliteration, which can be found on Anki Web or Google Drive.

Hi guys, one more question regarding Banu Mushtaq's Heart Lamp: what are the dhola and dholi in the following fragment? For the context, Meher comes back to her family after discovering her husband is cheating on her, and threatens to kill herself if they try to send ter back to him. To this, her brother responds:

This is too much, Meher. Those who want to die don’t walk around talking about it. But if you had any concern for this family’s honour then you would have done that instead of coming here. The house that your dholi goes to should be the house from which your dhola comes out. That is the life of a decent woman.

( I am helping with the Polish translation of the book, and unfortunately, for fragments like this one, lack the knowledge of the context to be able to figure out what is being said... )

Once i watched a drama in Halegannada. In the whole drama i could recognize only one word, that too because it was of sanskrit origin. I can understand Kannada.

Is there any connection between Halegannada and Kannada? The vocabulary seems totally different, with no words in common. Shouldn't Halegannada be called by a different name?
