Hi umm what Kate bush album do you recommend to listen to first. 🎀
reddit.comResponse I got from the AI when asked about bird sounds used in an advertisement.
The bird sounds—such as those of pigeons and blackbirds—featured in the advertising videos for the Range Rover SV line bear a striking sonic resemblance to the work of British artist Kate Bush. On her acclaimed 2005 double album *Aerial*, she incorporates samples and recordings of real birds into several tracks, with the second disc (*A Sky of Honey*) dedicated entirely to this theme. Although there is no official statement confirming whether the Range Rover sound team used Kate Bush's tracks directly or simply drew upon nature recordings from sound libraries that evoke the folk-ambient style of *Aerial*, the inspiration is evident.

Cómo conocieron a Kate Bush
Cómo fue la forma en la que ustedes conocieron a Kate Bush? Y cuál fue la primera canción que oyeron de ella?
Taking a very hopeful shot in the dark for my fiancée
Long shot, but does anyone know the best legitimate way to contact Kate Bush or her team for a heartfelt personal request?
Mysterious Kate and Beth Orton meeting...
I'm a longtime music journalist who just published an interview with the singer-songwriter (and noted Kate fan) Beth Orton—and there is a teensy bit of possible Kate news in the story. Since we all know any signs of Kate are exceedingly rare, I wanted to share it here.
During my chat with Beth, which took place a month ago, she mentioned that she had recently met Kate. As a big Kate fan myself—I once interviewed her and reviewed a couple of her albums when I worked at Pitchfork—I was surprised, and excited, to hear this! Naturally, I tried to learn more about the meeting, but Beth was tight-lipped about it. Which makes me think there might be something to it. Maybe! Here is the part of the interview in question:
>If you could sit anyone down and make them listen to your new album, who would it be?
>Beth Orton: Briefly, yesterday, I met Kate Bush, and I just didn’t know what to say to her. I should have just said, “How are you? I hope you’re good,” and talked to her like any other human. But instead I was like, [cartoonishly dopey voice] “I’m such a huge fan!” And she’s just like, “Yeah, OK. Whatever.” I suppose it’s more like I’d love to sit down with these people and have a real conversation.
>How did you come in contact with Kate Bush? She’s pretty elusive.
>I know. So that’s why I shouldn’t really tell the story, because I can’t follow through on it. I just have to leave it there.
I know this is not a lot, but it's something?!
If you like Beth Orton—and music journalism in general!—please considering checking out the full interview. The story is published on Hearing Things, a worker-owned newsletter and website that I co-founded alongside four other great music writers.
Hopefully we find out more about this meeting soon!
The Big Sky - Meteorological Mix
How did I not know about this before? The big sky is my favorite Kate Bush song of all time and I am only now discovering this. It's so good, especially the part with a bunch of people describing the clouds they see.
[1984-1994] Female alternative singer, lyric similar to “I am a child of the world. I am a child.”
I’m trying to identify a female solo alternative artist I listened to on CD sometime between about 1984 and 1994.
Here’s what I remember:
• Solo artist (not a band)
• Two-word name (first and last)
• I think her first name may have been Laurie or Lori, but I’m not confident enough to rely on that.
• Distinctive, emotionally powerful voice.
• Artistically she reminded me more of Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, early Tori Amos, or the Cocteau Twins than mainstream pop.
• I bought the CD in a regular bookstore or record store, so she had commercial distribution.
The only lyric I remember is something very close to:
“I am a child of the world. I am a child.”
That may not be exact after all these years.
I also vaguely remember seeing the word “Chyld” or “Chylde” somewhere, but that could have been in the CD liner notes rather than the lyric itself, so it may be a false memory.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Kate Bush’s strange Scottish UFO encounter
It's time for the annual Far Out article unearthing another wonderfully obscure Kate Bush anecdote from the archives!
“Weight of Desire” by Tennis could not be more Kate-koded if it tried. Also, it’s pretty great.

Why is Kate Bush hated by so many people online?
I’ve been a fan of Kate Bush for a while now, so naturally I tend to get videos about her on social media platforms like Tiktok or Instagram. But a trend i’ve been noticing is that people seem to dislike- or even hate- Kate Bush. For example i’d get videos of people covering a song of hers, then the comments would say that they sang it better than kate ever could. I’d also get videos of people confused on why kate ever even became popular in the first place because of how horrible she sounds. Then there are people who hate Kate just for the sake of hating her.
Idk this just confuses me, she’s an inspiration to so many people and managed to live down an incredibly impressive career without any controversies.

Fav deep cut from Kate Bush?
So what’s your favorite deep cut/or non album cut?
Going back to Kick Inside from a AIR Studios rabbit hole and whoa it’s a great album from her and from the 70s so now I’m going back to her deep cuts or lesser known songs.
So far I like Kite and The Saxophone Song from previously mentioned Kick Inside,The Kiss Inside,Mother Stands For Comfort,In the Warm Room, and Leave it Open
Got the Kate bug
I’d been a casual listener for years before Stranger Things, but mostly just listened to singles. The Wuthering Heights remake pissed me off by not having Kate’s song featured anywhere, and that led to an INTENSE binge. I’ve literally been listening to nothing but her entire catalogue since March, with no signs of stopping. Do any of you long-time fans just hop between albums for extended periods, with no other artists? Is this normal for a newbie or what falling in love feels like? Nothing compares, or even comes close. Also, there is a song of hers for almost every post on r/SongsThatFeelLikeThis. Let’s flood it.
Bought my first Kate Bush record❤️
I was so struck by the song 'Breathing' two weeks ago that I decided to buy the record straight away. My favourite Kate album, I think, is 'The Dreaming', but this song reminded me of the really terrifying film 'Threads', and overall it feels more and more relevant with every passing year. It’s astonishing how Kate always managed to talk about difficult subjects you want to turn away from, yet she does it in such a way that you simply can’t tear yourself away from the song, even though there’s a horrible meaning inside it (this applies to a lot of her songs, and to 'Cloudbusting' too, of course)
Favourite and least favourite songs from each Kate bush album. Anyone completely opposite?
First one is my favourite, and the second is the least
(I love all Kate bush songs a lot, but we all have like preferences from album, and albums like aerial are really hard to pick a favourite)
The kick inside: Kite, Strange Phenomena
Lionheart: Kashka From Baghdad, In search of Peter pan
Never for ever: Violin, the infant kiss
The dreaming: Night Of The Swallow, leave it open
Hounds of love: Hello Earth, mother stands for comfort
The sensual world: This woman's work, reaching out
The red shoes: You're the one, the song of Solomon
Aerial: Mrs. Bartolozzi, Bertie
Director's cut: Deeper understanding, Rubberband girl*
50 words for snow: Lake Tahoe, 50 words for snow
B sides: Passing through air, The empty bullring
*Specifically this version, I like the on the red shoes but the unusual muted vocals put me off it.
