I can set the style of the subtitles if i do each one individually, but if i select a group of subtitles, i cant. any reason why or any solutions?
doing each subtitle one by one takes is so tedious

The original text is "This is a \n test". But the \n is missing on the video.
I tried \\n \\\n with no luck.
Tried Googling with no luck.
Kdenlive docs mentioned \N, but I am not sure if that is related somehow.

there is a text effect that I use alot and I want to be able to but it somehere where I can Reach it and mass with it without needing to put cuts in the clip the text is on so it matches different segments.
so if was able to make a fake clip it would Basically be a placeholder for the text effects.
anyone know how to do that?

For some reasons, switching between this reset my view settings.
For example if I hide Clip Monitor, switching to Logging then back to Editing will spawn the Clip Monitor back.
I am not sure what are these for, but is that intended behavior? What if I mistakenly clicking on those?

How long should it take to render a 9-minute video with just trimming and text on a laptop RTX 3050? I used NVENC H.264, and it took about an hour, but I think it should be faster.
Anyone know what causes these red borders flashing randomly? Some PNG/image clips on the timeline keep randomly blinking red, like when media is missing. But the files are not actually missing, because the preview still plays correctly.
The weird part is that when a clip blinks red, the effect controls panel also glitches: Transform and other effects for that clip appear/disappear as if Kdenlive is losing the clip state and then restoring it.
I tried clearing the current project cache, including audio/video thumbnails, but it did not change anything. Timeline preview and proxy clips are both 0 B. Reloading/relinking the image sometimes fixes it temporarily, but then the blinking comes back randomly.
Has anyone seen this before? Is this a known bug with still images/PNG clips, Transform effects, or project/media cache?
I'm on Ubuntu 24.04 and Kdenlive 26.04.2 (app image)
PS I can render the project just fine as though nothing is wrong!
could using both be like davinci resolve's edit + fusion tab? does anyone have this workflow and is it easy to incorporate both softwares in a single workflow?
The video appears fine in the editor, however when I render it, the top and bottom get cut off. I recorded the footage in 1680x1050 (16:10) resolution if that helps.
hey everyone, wanted to share this short abstract multimedia piece i created on kdenlive for a class project. the original one had a voiceover narrating poetry about the sea to tie the random imagery together (that's why it might feel a bit incoherent) but i am way too embarrassed by the sound of my own voice so i stripped it out for this upload and put a song over it instead. i feel like a lot of the context gets lost without the voice, but i wanted to share anyway lmao.
i'm coming back to kdenlive after its latest upload and i can say that i'm liking it WAY more than barely just last year. i hope the updates to come will be as good as the last one!
I don't know if there's a dedicated tool to achieve this or if it's a mix of different effects?

I'm trying to edit videos from an old Sony Camera, videos are AVCHD, 1440x1080, 1.33 pixel aspect ratio, 29.97 fps. Project settings are 1080p, 29.97fps.
In the Clip Monitor these videos display correctly as 1080p, however when I add them to the timeline, they get rendered with black bars, the actual size of the video is 1440x810 there. The actual size of the video on the canvas is 1080p, when I transform, the black bars look like they're part of the video.
Considering they show up as the correct size in the preview, I wonder if this is some issue with AVCHD files? I'm puzzled and thankful for tips!

Hi. I'm new to Kdenlive and am making a film invovling a montage of scraps of video and photos. Some of the video was taken a couple of decades ago and is 320 x 240. I figured it made sense to use these frame dimensions for the project settings. Higher res video and initial photos I've added have slotted in fine (with changes in transform) but some photos I have added recently are highly blocky and pixleated. All the photos I've added were born-digital. The ones that have worked without any issue are 4.74 MB and the ones that are causing problems are 1.49 MB. Can anyone advise on what might be the reason for the problems I'm having and if there is a better way I should be going about this whole thing? Any advice much appreciated.

i have multiple different clips and while working on one i lock the others, after a while when i unlock them i can't move them up, down, front or back, or delete them. i tried to restart the program but it's still the same.
i'm new and trying to make a simple edit to practise but this problem is making me unable to do anything.
any help or suggestion is appreciated

I've tried enable/disable Pause playback when seeking, enable/disable Play/pause monitor on click but it isn't works. It's annoying to me, can anybody help me?

The animation was cropped ( using a online tool ) after rendering because it kept showing a white line flickering on the side and i couldn't figure out how to fix it.
This has happened since I got the software. Rotoing just does not work. It offsets itself to the right just enough to be a problem and no one else seems to have this issue. It happens with mask and without. Every frame has to be rotoed twice essentially, which can add hours to an already tight schedule. Please. I am loosing my mind trying to fix this and cant find a solution. I'm on linux if that helps.
Basically, I have the files I want to put in my videos, and I'll have moments where as I'm about to put a file into the timeline, I somehow click and move the entire timeline window. I feel like this is happening to me more than it did before. This didn't happen until one of the more recent updates. I don't know if this was from one of the updates, or if I'm doing something to make this happen. But yeah, I'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else.
