Kudos of Kel Tec Customer Service!

Especially to Lynne B in the office.

Emailed a few months ago as i found the cut for the "sights" on my P32 were uneven. (I know its a point and shoot, and it shouldnt matter, but they were off). She sent me a replacement slide, no questions asked. She also sent an envelope to return the defective slide. ALL GOOD!

I followed up a few weeks later with a random question on the availability of replacement grip frames. When i bought my P32, I could only find the grey color in my area.

After some digging, she was able to find a black grip frame, took my CC over the phone, and got it right in the mail.

Couldnt be happier overall. The fact they would go out of the way to make me happy was awesome to see.

(PS: changing out the frames takes 5 minutes after watching a youtube video)

KSG Hard to Rack

I was shooting a buddies KSG and it was almost impossible to rack once loaded. I would have to smack the forward grip to get it to cycle back almost every time. I took it home and checked it out. Is this part (the hammer bar I think it is) bent? It's not supposed to look like that is it?

Would you say that's the root cause of the hard action?

Failure to fire with brand new p32

I picked up a new p32 from my LGS today intending to make it my new EDC but after trying to shoot it I don't know if I'll ever trust this gun.

Immediately after purchase I took it to the range and attempted to fire 100 rounds of Magtech 71 grain. Close to half the rounds did not fire, and every failed round had a small dent on the primer. At this point I figured it may be my fault because I didn't oil the gun or anything before trying to shoot it, so I took it home for a cleaning.

After everything got oiled I went back to the range to try it again, but this time I made notes. I had a 36% failure to fire rate with the Magtech and a 48% failure to fire rate with S&B 73 grain.

For a gun that I was planning to carry, this is completely unacceptable. You could play Russian roulette with this thing. Is my gun just a lemon or does KelTec commonly have issues like this? I've submitted a support ticket but have not heard back yet since it's only been a couple hours.

TL;DR my new gun is garbage. How is their warranty/repair service?

CMR30

I just emailed keltec basically begging to produce a CMR30 in 5.7 before PSA and HK released their 5.7 PDWs in turn for my slavery and they said they would forward it to their dev team. I’m sure they were just saying that to shut me up but pretty cool they actually read the email. Cool guys over there.

Pr 5.7 vs. PR-3AT

I've been really interested in both of these pistols because of the stripper clip feeding and the ease of takedown. Wondering which would would be more reliable and economical to shoot

RDB Recoil Action Spring and Firing Pin Spring Failures

Hello! Got just 30 rounds through my RDB and discovered two broken springs. I shot it with the gas valve "as it came" straight out of the box, fine, and then a few days later to zero an optic with the gas settings set "halfway" with two clicks more for reliability. The gun failed to cycle with 62 grain until I dialed the gas back up, and then the next thing I ran into was frequent light primer strikes (every 3-4 rounds).

I cleaned and inspected the gun afterwards which led me to discover two broken springs. The firing pin spring (Part #309) was in 3 pieces, which blocked the firing pin from extending fully into the chamber every now and then. This was a good discovery, and Keltec is sending me a firing pin repair kit.

The other surprise was this Action Spring (Part #316). It looks like the last loop of spring broke from stress or an unlucky manufacturing defect. This spring is firmly secured somehow to the Bolt Carrier Weldment (Part #322). I later learned that the rod it's connected to, the Action Spring Rod Weldment (Part #319), is supposed to be remain with the Bolt Carrier Weldment assembly as one unit when field stripping the gun. I disassembled and cleaned the gun the day I got it, but I was probably too inexperienced with the RDB platform to recognize this separation as an oddity.

Keltec customer service says my gun was manufactured in 2024 and can be ran with or without a replacement firing pin spring. (The issue with bolt slam-firing induced negligent discharges was fixed about 7 years ago with a sear redesign). However, for the Action Spring, the tech told me the spring is welded/retained(?) to the rod and not serviceable by customers. Sigh. I have a few questions for the community since I couldn't find any discussion on this online:

  • Has anyone else experienced this spring failure?
  • Are aftermarket replacement springs available?
  • Does anyone know how to replace it ourselves? I hate the idea of sending it back to Keltec for warranty repair after I just got it.

I'm not a spring engineer but I suspect the failure region is the area of highest stress in the coil since it transitions from a slanted coil to a radial plane, perpendicular to the axis of the rod it's tightly wound to.

I'm hoping I just got unlucky with these two springs, but so far Keltec's reputation is proving to be accurate despite my excitement for the gun. Thanks for the help in advanced!

PR-3AT is a bust

I wanted to love the gun. I just can't. I was getting malfunction after malfunction when I got it. The slide wouldn't go back far enough to feed, the bullet would nose up over the chamber when feeding, or the slide would lock back instead of feeding. I used 3 different brands of ammo and couldn't get one to work. I sent it in for repair. They changed out the barrel, trunnion, recoil assembly, and follower. They also buffed the feed ramp. They claimed it didn't malfunction when they then shot it and they sent it back to me. First shot malfunctioned. Second shot malfunctioned. Third shot malfunctioned. Fourth shot. Need I keep going? Every once in a while I would get 6-7 shots in a row without malfunctions, but that was rare.

Don't get it. The trigger sucks too. Worst trigger I have ever felt.

Aluminum ST50

Has anyone put out a video reviewing the aluminum st50 kit? I was hoping that stuff and things or someone else would eventually make an aluminum kit as the poly st50 seems to have a lot of fitment issues. But now that stuff and things came out with their aluminum kit Im wondering if they fixed those issues.

Cmr 30 not firing rounds

Is this a gun problem or an ammo problem? Did this with multiple rounds but Im hoping it was just the ammo.

CO33 top rail laser light?

I’m finishing a CP 33 build and I’m thinking about a light laser for the top rail that would be lower than the mounted red dot. Please let me know if that’s a possibility. I’m open for all suggestions. The laser is preferable over the light. I do have a riser for the red dot if necessary.
