Stockyards Restaurant. Thoughts?

Been some chatter recently, just curious what the consensus is for those that have checked it out.

Anything noteworthy? Good or otherwise.

Looking to get some insight at working at Toyota

I was wondering if anyone on this thread could give me some insight on working at the Toyota factories;
Wondering what the work / life balance is like?
Wondering if the pay wage is worth the shift schedule?
Also just wondering if ppl are overly happy working there
Thanks again for your insight if you comment

I am on assistance and have been traveling around for interviews but the traveling expenses have been piling up.

City of Kitchener an US-based cloud services

I'm annoyed and disappointed. The City is moving some services to a third party platform. Apparently they were unable to find any Canadian options. SO happy to read this (WCGW?):

"As part of this change, vendor name and vendor address will be stored using a cloud-based service located in the United States.  Personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act s.11(1) and will be used for the purpose of processing invoices and payments. This information is accessed only by authorized City staff and is managed in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)."

Vietnamese-Canadian refugee. Divorce got strange — so I wrote an EP in 6 weeks.

I survived a boat, confessed my darkest secret, told the truth, and watched the world burn.

'85' is a public record of what happened. They blacklisted me for it — but they can't delete the music.

Lo-fi hip-hop born from trauma, created with AI. Confessional. Dark. No apologies. Just the document.

Our community needs a little help right now!

Hi everyone,

We’re currently seeing a drop in community food and fund drives across Waterloo region, while more households are turning to food assistance for support.

If you’ve ever thought about hosting a food and fund drive, this is a really impactful time to do it. Even small drives with friends, coworkers, schools, or local groups add up quickly and directly support neighbours in need. Food and fund drives are a big part of how we keep shelves stocked and fill gaps in our inventory.

If you’re in a position to host one, it would make a real difference right now! You can learn more and register here: https://www.thefoodbank.ca/host-food-and-fund-drive/

Was there ever a proposal to make a corso type downtown?

I come from a city that doesn't have a main square, but a corso, a pedestrian street with bars, restaurants and other amenities.

Was it ever proposed to close King from Queen to Water, and allow restaurants to have larger patios, maybe some trees and greenery?

It seems like a no brainier that would revitalize the downtown that really lacks a similar area, especially since Charles, Duke and Weber should be able to easily handle the traffic.

If such a proposal was already considered, why did it fail?

Victoria Park is becoming a problem on holidays

Went to enjoy the very hot holiday we had yesterday.
MULTIPLE TIMES I watched kids and adults throw plastic and garbage into the water. Food they were done with, wrappers, and I ended up confronting a family when they watched the kids throw a garbage bag into the river and laughed about it. The park was disgusting yesterday and the police on duty are more concerned with chatting with each other than ticketing families. If their morals don’t stop them for polluting the park then maybe a fine will.

A group of kids shot fireworks during the day at geese but I think one got arrested.

Do better, we’re very privileged to have a wonderful park in this city.

Tornado watch / severe storm rolling through Kitchener right now—anyone seeing anything yet?

Hey everyone, just saw that Environment Canada dropped a severe thunderstorm watch for the Waterloo region, and they mentioned a tornado is possible. Winds are supposed to get crazy (up to 110 km/h) and there might be ping pong ball-sized hail.

https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?onrm71=

It's been so insanely hot today so I guess a crazy storm makes sense, but has anyone actually seen any rotation, massive clouds, or hail yet?

Stay safe out there and head indoors if it gets wild! Let me know what it looks like in your neighborhood.
