How are the people and local culture?

Is it peaceful/safe for someone new?

This post is based on my experience of the past 7 years of living in kota during the adolescent phase of my life.

In my opinion this is an issue which manifests itself in a form which is very different from anywhere else.

I have tried to list all the probable factors and how they contribute to this issue.

1. Mindset of Temporariness - people come to kota for serious aim oriented study and do not consider forging inter human relationships worthwhile.

2. Niche nature of economy - the city's primary source of income is hyper specialized and it is obviously driven by the coaching industry. And because of this reason every business is targeted towards students. It severely lacks any avenue for social interaction apart from studying. This is not the case in any city where there is a diversity of social infrastructure.

3. Influence of dummy culture over normal teenagers of this age group - in kota individuals who do not follow this prepare for jee/neet (sometimes from a very early age) by pursuing anything apart from this are considered deviants instead of the other way around. (I speculate kota has the largest no of non attending aka dummy students in proportion than any other city in the WORLD). This dummy culture is so detrimental for the mind of a young individual. In these dummy classrooms there is an extreme skewed sex ratio since parents are comparatively more reluctant to send their girl child to kota for study. Apart from that there is a very tyrannical segregation of female students and male students where usually 1 out of 3/4 rows are seperate for girls or even different batches sometimes. Mixed sex classrooms during education is extremely important for secondary socialization seems to be lacking. (There is a new type of social stratification as well in kota which is very different from any other city, here people are UP and Bihar are not discriminated against because they take up jobs of the native people but because they are from those states. Even while they are the ones sustaining the economy of the city which would be dead otherwise.)

4. Marginal cultural modernization - we are stuck in between. The city is not modern enough to have a vibrant dating or clubbing culture but modern enough to not have traditional ties of kinship, childhood friends, cousins etc.

5. Absence of realisation - people think this problem only affects them, or they are the exception but in my observation both in physical interactions or by impersonating on reddit (not really proud of that). This problem seems to be unanimous.

I’m currently doing an operations research project on the "real, day-to-day operational challenges of running a PG or hostel in India"

So far, I’ve been visiting PG owners locally in-person, but to build something that actually works across India, I need to look past my own city. I know a lot of PG/hostel owners (or their kids who help them run the tech side) are on Reddit, so I'm turning to you guys for help.

We are trying to understand what actually breaks in daily operations. If you own, manage, or family-run a PG, I would love your honest inputs on a few past-tense, real-world scenarios:

1. Rent & Cash Flow:

Out of your total beds, how many tenants were late by more than 7 days on rent last month?

When a tenant delays rent, what is your exact step-by-step process to follow up? (Do you send WhatsApp reminders, call tenants/parents, face-to-face?)

Have you ever lost money on a move-out dispute recently? What happened?

2. Food & Waste Management

How do you decide the daily cooking quantity? Do you just guess, or do you track how many people will eat daily?

What is your estimated food wastage percentage on an average week?

What was the last major complaint you received about the mess?

3. Daily Operations & Staff

When you are away from your PG, what are the things that give you anxiety and tension?

How do tenants raise complaints (WhatsApp, calling, register), and how do you track their resolution?

How do you handle police verifications right now—online portal, local agent, or visiting the station yourself?

4. Existing Tech

Have you ever tried using an app, software, or Excel sheet to track things? What made you go back to registers or simple WhatsApp groups (if you did)?

What we are trying to do:

Based on the data we gather from 30–40 owners, we want to build a dead-simple, no-nonsense operations tool that takes away the headache of rent chasing, tracks complaints seamlessly, and keeps parents/tenants transparently looped in without the constant phone calls.

Guys I know it sounds absurd but you read it correctly, I am tired of being single. And none of the dating apps work in kota , only coaching classes and having a pet cat can do something and I don't have both of the options.

I am 24 , 6.1 tall , looking for something serious, never tried dating before, have a nice job as per kota standards , damn guys this post is becoming a matrimonial shit .

This whole post is gonna look like I am a despo loner loser, but what can I do except this , can't go on dating apps might get scammed. And I am sick of doing the same things daily, I go home and play games on PC or go for a spin on my bike .

I am happy in other ways but I don't have someone except family ( parents & sister). I can't talk about everything with them .

Friends are busy with their adult life, 1 friend has been married 2 times yes FUKING 2 TIMES AT THE AGE OF 25 , seeing that much while being single 😭😭.

I'm willing to find a group of students (mostly) who are interested in running in the morning. I am new to the city and don't know much about the parks here too where I can run (for free). I know some very small small parks near allen sankalp and all but they are not for running. If there's a great spot or some empty straight road where people often used to run in the morning, so let me know by any chance ?
